Casein Protein

I want to start getting this protein before bed. However, I HATE cottage cheese. Any other good food sources for it?
 
You can get casein at trueprotein.com. I don't know of any other whole food sources for that kind of protein.
 
looks like i'm gunna have to man up and learn to like cottage cheese, huh? I know the casein is good before bed. It's a slow release protein and helps with muscle healing too.
 
i have two a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. The first is whey, glutamine, and dextrose. I use it for my pwo shake too. The second is whey, glutamine, and a slow carb. I wanted to add more to my a night time food to my diet that would keep me from being hungry at night, be acceptable for my diet, give me protein, and up my insulin levels as I sleep.

According to my research the casein in the cottage cheese gels in the gut which will slow digest the protein as I sleep. Plus, it will up my insulin levels. Which we all know is a natural HGH your body produces.

I try to keep as natural as possible. My only other supplements are CLA, Green Tea extract, and a multivitamin.
 
i do love me some salsa. I know cottage cheese pretty much a body building stapple. I'm new to this life style and constantly researching and asking questions. I guess if I'm serious about shedding fat and bulking up I gotta do stuff I don't want to. (i'm still staying all natural though)

Er...insulin is not a natural HGH. It can cause your body to produce more HGH if it brings your blood sugar very low (as in going hypo). Otherwise, it can cause you to put fat on.
 
Oh ok. learn something new everyday! Would you recommend the cottage cheese before bed? All the research I've done points to it being a good idea. I don't want to put fat on I want to lose it. Through some cardio, gaining lean mass, and keeping my metabolism high i'm losing the weight. However my caloric intake is too low but i'm working on that right now.
 
cottage cheese is good, but i too cant suck it down

i usually go with a high protein greek yougurt, usually 20g per cup
throw a few nuts and rasins in and BAM
 
Im with Saud. Just buy some casein powder bro. Its so much easier. I am preaching to myself with this as well. Ive been putting it off myself. LOL
 
If not casein powder or cottage cheese, go for some eggs. That's my favorite last meal of the day. Another option would be to have a shake ready to mix and down in the middle of the night when you wake up to piss. If you only have some whey, throw some extra virgin olive oil or macadamia nut oil in to slow digestion, then have the same shake in the middle of the night :thumbsup:
 
Got some cottage cheese to see if I have gotten a taste for it over the many years I've avoided it. If I can't take it, my GF loves the stuff, so I'll give it to her and grab some casein powder.

However, the eggs thing sounds good. I love scrambled egg whites.

How does greek yogurt compare to "regular" yogurt?
 
made with ewe’s milk contain about 5% milkfat, and cow’s milk yogurts contain 9%

-fage is a good brand - o fat one has-- 9 carb 20 protein-- 9 sugar
kinda plain taste, add alittle sugar free maple syrup YUMMY

- chobani is a good brand also, they have great flavors but have more sugar and carbs and alittle less protein. GREAT TASTE THOUGH
