coffee/caffeine?

What is everyone's take on coffee to get you going in the morning? I haven't worked a day shift in forever, and getting a cup of coffee in me in the morning has got to be the best thing ever for my cardio sessions. I really don't approve of stimulants (stressing the body, then causing it to produce cortisol), but do you think the pros beat out the cons here?

Oh, and for you coffee drinkers, what kind of coffee do you drink? I'm new to this game.
 
If Cutler can drink a cup of black coofee in the morning, so can you and I. They actually have an artical in this months MD that says to drink one in the AM and be done with it. Drinking throughout the day restricts blood flow and causes high blood pressure.
 
I really don't like "coffee". Now I will knock back a white chocolate mocha or a caramel machiatto or however you spell it, because those are more like hot chocolate with a kick.
 
with a good diet i eally wouldent worrie about lossign muscle because of coffee "cortisol".
I have 2-3 cups a day.
shit that amount is good for you. iv seen alot more studys laitly showinf coffie is good for you as apposed to the "its bad for you " we hers many many years ago. i think when they did studys with coffee drinkers 20 or so yrs ago they should have taken into account the smokers (wich was most likly just abotu all of them lol)

i think keepinf it at a decent amount not goign over 6 or so cupa a day is fine. so 1 or 2 should not even be a worrie man.

btw i liek for my coffee (i make it at home in esspesso machine) blue mountian jamaican coffie beand or terkish beans both dark roast.



ps. sry for spellign i just woke up and havent had my coffee yet lol
 
I think coffee tastes terrible. In fact, I don't drink any caffeinated drink or use any stimulants at all and I find that my energy is steadier and more consistant throughout the day. I quit drinking caffeine about 6-7 years ago and now that I'm used to going without it, I can't imagine depending on it.

wow! It's not that what I drink I drink for the caffeine. Anything I drink, is because I like the taste of it. I don't like regular coffee's taste either. But I can't see going without diet cherry coke or iced tea... I think I'd kill somebody if I couldn't drink that anymore.

Well, sometimes I have a diet caffeine-free Coke, but not very often. I don't like iced tea (I'm a bad southerner, lol). I do drink hot tea sometimes but it's always decaf.

I drink decaf before bed, but that's about it. Hell, I'm born and raised northerner and we still used to drink suntea/sweet tea since I was waist high to a grasshopper. So for you to be southern and not drink it, you might want to keep that a secret before you get your "Good ole' boy" card revoked!! lol
 
Im a junkeine! I usually get about 400-500mg/day I don't drink it pre cardio because I don't want an elevated heart rate. Starbucks is by far the best, Green Mountain does some great flavors, and New England is above average.

I don't like coffee either, but I tend to stay away from stimulants, caffeine in particular because of the diuretic effects. I want to keep my water because my body doesn't really hang on to it.
 
i would drink black coffee just to wake myself up in the morning.... dont like the taste very much but it gets me up.. i used to make it at home , but i tried mcdonalds new coffee when they were promoting it for free for a couple weeks... theyre coffee is wicked! double double but with sweeetener and milk :)
 
i drink instant coffee. 1/2 cup of water micro waved for 90 sec, TWO scoops coffee, fake suger, and 1/2 cup milk. This way I can make it really strong and it dosent tast like total shit. You suck down a coffee made with 2-3 scoops and you can feel ur fn hair growing!!
 
I like coffee and sometimes drink that pre workout..but I like pre workout stims to ...so I switch it up from time to time
 
i used to be a big coffee drinker, besides a cup on the morning i used to have 2 more throughout the day

but since training has been more intense than ever i find its very hard for me to stay hydrated the way i need to be.
a gallon of water to me is nothing now and days. point is coffee dehydrates me to no end, so ive stayed away from it for the past year.

if i need caffiene i usually have a speedstack or a scoop of a low/no carb preworkout supp
 
I LOVE coffee... I never used to drink until I met Jon and somewhere along the way, I became an addict (even though I always swore I never would). A large iced black coffee from Dunkin' Donuts always does the trick for me!!
