My cortisol levels came back from two times the normal levels. Im looking for some suggections , natural or pharmaceutical, as to what would be good for suppressing or keeping blood levels low.

As some of you may know super high corisol is considered cushings syndrome where your pituitary signals for too much cortisol due to tumors on the pituitary or adrenals. My docs havent concluded whether I have cushings or not but I would like to block some cortisol activity in the meanwhile.

Let's see if I can remember....natural blockers are:
Beta-Sitoserol (spelling?)
Phosphatidylserine
vitamin C is also supposed to help block cortisol

Here's a web link on Cushing syndrome and psychiatric issues (I don't know why it's there in a site for antiques, it just is):

Text excerpt of it below--lists a few strong drugs that lower cortisol levels:

Psychiatric Issues of Cushing's Patients

by Dori Middleman, M.D.
posted with permission from Dr. Dori Middleman

How common are psychiatric problems with Cushing's, and what problems do Cushing's patients have?

In some studies, as many as 90% of Cushing's patients suffer from depression. In part, this is due to actual chemical changes in the brain from high cortisol. The depressing effect of having a serious and impairing illness may also contribute to depression. High cortisol levels also can be experienced by the body as anxiety, and insomnia is extremely common in patients on steroids and with high cortisol states. Elevated, agitated mood, like in mania, can also be seen in a minority of patients, and some actually hallucinate and have psychotic symptoms. Problems with concentration and memory are common and may improve or continue after recovery, depending upon the severity and length of the Cushing's symptoms.

What treatments are there for Cushing's patients' psychiatric problems?

Ultimately, the most important treatment is control of the cortisol level. Thus, surgery or radiation are needed for most patients with Cushing's Disease and Cushing's Syndrome due to adrenal tumors. On a temporary basis, medications, such as ketoconazole, metyrapone, and aminogultethimide, have been used to lower high cortisol levels due to tumors and may be helpful in alieviating some of the psychiatric symptoms associated with the high cortisol state.

Note: The drugs listed in the excerpt are to lower cortisol, not treat for psychiatric symptoms. I just happened to find them listed in this article.

man, that is a great read! i definitely have severe symptons of everything mentioned above. especially the part about the hallucinations and psychotic symptons, that is exactly the way to describe my mood sometimes. i get in these little depressed stupors and it actually feels like im drugged, and i cant snap out of it.

7-OH, a more orally active form of 7-OXO is supposed to work wonders.

At twice the normal level, i don't know, but it might be worth a try.

It's in a Designer Supplements product called Lean Extreme at 50mg/cap. I've heard that over 200mg/day can give you stiff joints (think it just dries them out like winny does), but you might want to risk it.

Just a heads up.

phosphatidyl Serine is also supposed to be great, but needs to be taken at around 800mg/day which can get cost prohibitive.

Id supplement with more sleep , more food, multivitamin , shit load of vitamin C, a week off every 2 months of lifting and maybe vitamin E ... any thoughts?

Thats good for minor issues or overtraining bro, but if you have a chemical imbalance, you need something a little more specific to the problem. Phosphatidyl serine works well, at 600-800mg per day, and its really not too expensive. Add 5htp in at 300-400mg daily, and for minor depression and catabolic issues it works well.
