androgel or testim or what prescription HRT best

aloha
i was on long term hormone replacement therapy. intially it was a prescription years ago but recently it has been self prescribed. now that i have run out and can't get anymore my numbers have been around 207 - 220.

Still they make me take the tests again and now they want me to use dhea as a replacement for testosterone instead of using the testim or real testosterone.

I would like my levels around 400 or so.

is it actually possible to do this with dhea?

p.s. i have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia.

I am considering scrweing with the test results by taking dhea before i do the test. I am not sure how much i would need to take.
i have a bottle of 5mg capsules.

The dhea isn't going to increase your test like that...they're crazy if they think so.

what kind of increase might i get from it?

lastly why is 200 considered acceptable?
anyone below 300 should get immediate help in my opinion.

heck i have seen tests that say 300 IS the LOWER LIMIT

DHEA does not increase testosterone like that. To become testosterone, it has to be converted in the body to androstendione, and then that has to be converted into testosterone, and that all if you are lucky to have copious amounts of the enzymes necessary (which the general population doesn't have). DHEA has never been considered a replacement for low testosterone. Whatever doctor told you that it was is a complete quack. Go to a urologist or a endocrinologist. If you test low as you say, they will most likely put you on testosterone cypionate. That's what I'm on and have been on since I was diagnosed low at 30 years old.

so i went to another doctor and begged for testim and he gave me a year prescription. now i call the pharmacy and they say only have androgel.

which one is better?

i could try and call around to other pharmacies.

they actually said testim is not made anymore, but they always say that when they cant get it.

depo test is what i was using myself once a month
has anybody ever gotten a doctor to give them permission to self administer this? if i had to go to doctor to get twice a month or so it woudl be pain in ass plus i would feel like i am begging for it each time when i already have 1 year prescription

what i found locally

i found testim at a hosptial pharmacy. i got a prescription for 60 vials. anybody want to guess what that will do to my testosterone level from a baseline of 200?

androgel is also easy to find and i used that once before.
does anybody prefer androgel over testim?

i know androgel i think goes on the balls and testim on the shoulder. not sure why that is, if it does not sting i would put in on the balls for best absorption.
am i wrong ?

Wallgreens carries first testosterone at about $60. if my insurance company wont authorise then i will buy that one myself.

thats kind of what i have been talking about. I got a prescription and if i need to my doctor will change it to what i want.


kind of bummed because nothing happened all day today and yesterday to get the authorization from my insurance company to cover the cost.


so now i have to wait till monday

if i had gotten a prescription for first test then i would have purchased it myself by now

Get an injectable. Your prescription for a 200 ml 2 gram bottle runs about $109 at Walgreens. You can get a FREE prescription card helper online (google them), that knocks mine down to 55. I take one shot per week for my trt. Insurance will not cover this most of the time.

Wow, that gel stuff is incredibly expensive. No wonder they are pushing it. The drug companies get more money that way. Regular testosterone cypionate is far cheaper, and is just as or more effective than the gel.

we will see how things go. i just learned that the doctor can call in the authorization.

I also learned that test propinate injection does not need authorization.

but how often would i need to inject that?
