I've tried everything. Pre exhaust, heavy weights, high volume... my chest just really doesn't respond. Its strong, but I can't go superheavy for lower reps or I pull something. I tore my right pec doing 365 on the incline for 9 reps years ago. Right now I'm pre exhausting with cable flyes 130lb for 15 then 245 on incline barbell for near 20. Its very prone to injury, but its SO frustrating. I use the lying flat Hammer machine 5 plates a side (all it will hold) for 17. Advice or ideas are definately wanted!!

Apply some igf to them, that should work.

yea, the chest is lagging a little bit. But who doesn't have a lagging part, right?
The chest usually responds well to heavy weight, but if you cant overload it without tearing something...then you're kinda stuck in a rough spot.

did you have a slight pec tear on your left pec ?

Its actually pectus excavatus. Its an uneven formation of the sterum and breast plate bilaterally. I can have a small implant put in to correct it, but it would be a cosmetic procedure (not covered by ins) and I'm scared as to how it will look and the time it will take away from my training. Ya, got screwed in the chest department.

ok, You a a strong guy, and one thing I notice about guys that throw big weights around on chest day, is the dont work on the negative part of the movement. I like that you pre exhaust them with cables. Myself I do flyes first. Also use drop sets and drop sets only. Its the best way IMO to get the most out of a set. Flex and stretch between sets as well, as that would help get the bloodflow going to the chest. Well this is just my thoughts. Just try to have a bodybuilding frame of mind. Let the weight work you.

Pre-exhaust
work the negative
drop sets
Flex and stretch between sets

and good luck.

That's some effin' solid advice right there..I think I am going to go with that also, my chest is a little behind the rest of me .. lol.. time to kick it up a notch... AND, I am not particularly strong in the chest dept. I almost never use flat bench BB anymore and have started see kick ass improvements.. so that may be something of consideration The Dude...

Good points. Maybe I need to completely forget the weights I'm using on chest and focus on feeling the muscle the entire time. I've definately gotten away from that. If I don't see some real improvement I may have the condition corrected by surgery.

also stick with more declines and low inclines. I notice alot of guys when doing inclines they keep the weight over their head instead of the chest, sure your stronger that way, but also using alot of delt. So a low incline makes it easier to keep the weight over the chest. Declines to me pretty much takes the delts out of the eqaution alot and alow you to really squeze the chest and the top of the movement.

If you train alone, machines would be good for drop sets, as it is easy to just move a pin. Also it allows you to ajust the seat to bring it where you need it. And neagetives are great with machines as well, because if you cant get anymore just let it go, and you dont have to worry about weight falling on you, lol.
