I've been on trt for one month. I just got my blood panel back for my one month check up. i have not seen the DR yet. my original numbers were total test=376 free test=1.9 and estradiol was 76. my numbers after one month was total test= >1500 (not sure why it had the >) free test=46 and estradial was 126. im taking 200mg test cyp per week and 10mg of Tamoxifen for estrogen per day. Im worried about the estradial being so high. Any thoughts on why or if its blocking all the testosterone from working correct? thanks

Nolvadex (tamoxifin) does not decrease testosterone from aromatizing to estrogen - it merely binds to tissue in your breast and decreases your odds of gyno. Now high estrogen is not necessarily a bad thing, BUT you do have to consider several things:

1. How do you feel? Are you anxious, emotional, scared, aggressive, or moody?
2. What is your blood pressure? With that level of estrogen, a good amount of folks would have high blood pressure. It it is high, you need to get that down asap.
3. Your test is a little high. If your doc used lab corp, then the range is <1100 so he should lower your dose which will decrease estrogen.
4. How is your cholesterol? Sometimes a dose like that can screw with lipids which over time will cause damage to blood vessels.
5. How are your kidneys? If you bp is high, this is hard on kidneys.
6. How is your rbc? It it's high, go give blood, take 81mg of aspirin in the morning everyday, and drink at least a gallon of water every day.

If you still have estrogen problems after your test is lowered and your lipids aren't poor (if they are, you DEFIANTLY don't need an aromatase inhibitor like arimidex), he should prescribe an ai. After he does, be sure to get bloods done frequently. Never take an ai blindly.

If your doc told you that nolvadex will lower your estrogen, fire him and get a new one. That's basic stuff.

did you mean do? +rep anyway

i would think you would do better with an AI over nolva im not a doctor but you might want to get a second opinion

overall i feel pretty good. I wouldnt say i was aggressive or moody. My cholesterol numbers were great. right where they should be. my kidneys feel fine, no pain, years ago i had kidney pain from a poor lifestyle, so i know what too look for there. I havnt had my BP taken yet. but I def want to now. My rbc is also where it should be. Thanks for the reply

Ok then I wouldn't worry about the high estrogen if you feel fine. I get bad sides from high e2 personally. Since all your numbers are great, you could experiment with an ai, but watch your cholesterol.

IronJulius, I did mean don't bc ai's usually hurt the lipid panel. High estrogen usually helps it. That's one of the theories as to why women are much healthier heart wise then men.

Great post on the money with nolva dex comment!

I agree that you test range is high and the doc will probably lower the does for you, that should decrease your test reading and lower your estradiol as well. normally the higher the test level the estradiol seems to follow.

you think ur doctor will wind up lowering your overall dose of testosterone? That kind of sucks if in fact thats the case

Im hoping he keeps me at 200. He takes trt himself, so i feel like he will understand if i want to stay higher. Maybe not though. Hopefully he just finds an alternative to lowering the estrogen.

he wrote me the script for a year at 200mg per week. so im good on that part if i want to keep myself at higher numbers. i have to go back in 6 weeks to get tested again. then after that i could bump it back up again if i want. is there any side effects of staying at around 1500?

bigger muscles and lots of sex lol i would run cycles and just make sure working it around getting blood work. remember to lower dosage to 100mg 3 weeks before blood work
