Im gonna start really switching things up as i go. Right now im gonna use hammerstrength and other misc. machines for a solid month. Then im gonna switch to free weights and see how that goes. Ive always mixed in some machines but my new gym has everymachine i could ask for so i think this would be a good way to switch things up. Anybody else every go exclusive to machines for a period of time?

I've never used them exclusively but I do use them every 2 weeks when I switch my routine.. So I guess you can say for 2 weeks I'll use them exclusively but will then switch back to dumbells/barbell etc.. I always try to change up my routine has much as possible using diffrent grips, weights, reps etc.. Only way I grow.

lol thanks for that great knowledge full reply normal haha.

I hear ya pumpingiron thats the same with me i have to switch it up constantly as well. Im gonna try and shoot for a month but i might only make it a couple of weeks.

lol... i might consider it if i had an injury. Hammer strength has some great shit. But, there's nothing like the real thing baby g!

Coming back from my first dislocations, I did for a few months, didnt really see the gains I wanted. May have been from the machines vs freeweights we are taught all the time. May have been because I was a fricken pansy and didn't something to snap in the gym again :)

What's your definition of "machine?" For me, some of those apparatuses that use real weight plates aren't exactly machines. Machines to me are the ones that have a weight stack and pulleys, so my answer is no. I wouldn't be able to build my physique as well if I only used that type of machine.

only did machines for chest for about a year after a shoulder injury I recd. benching. Felt something was missing but didnt have a
choice. Man did it feel good to get back to a barbell and not have it hurt. I think I get the best results with dumbells.
I think it might work good if you did it like you said. Just machines and then back to the free weights. Could shock you into
some good progress.

i use some form of machines most of the time for chest and legs. most free weight chest exercises burn out my shoulders. machines let me overload the chest. same with legs, except lower back gets overloaded first

I dont mean the stacks some of those are just plain dumb. I always use machines in my leg workout really im just talking about like instead of db's or bb for bench use incline and flat hammer strength machines. The ones where you load plates on both sides. and instead of db flys use pec dec.
Back instead of bb rows etc use a high row and low row machine also from hammerstrength load plates on both sides.

I hit back today among other things but on back i used high row, low row and seated row and damn they hit me pretty good. I was able to really focus on hitting my back muscles and not pull with my arms. So far so good.

Hammer stuff is half breed machines and free weights..

As for using only machines no, I dont care for that..but the change woundnt hurt at all

hammer strength back machines are the bomb!!! They do isolate very well, and i like how you can load up some serious poundage.

i usually use machines for drop or supersets to help prevent me using leverage and avoiding injury

its def a different approach to shock the body..... itll help you focus more on muscle contraction than anything...

yup this is what im really likeing right now. I think im gonna stick it out well as long as i can lol. I really wanna hit some dumbells and bent over rows but i think if i can make it a month it will really help me grow when i switch it up completely again.

Been two weeks and im still really enjoying this. Strength is going up on all lifts. To be expected though since time was layed off. Easy to concentrate on the muscle at hand for sure. 2 more weeks then im going back to free weights.

Never done machine only but I have done dumbbell only workouts, especially for chest and shoulders.

Yeah i usually use alot of dumbells as well. I cant go too heavy on barbell anymore shoulder starts bothering me so i dont get much accomplished. These machines are kinda like hybrid i dont really use anything with a stack on it except for pec dec's.

I love Hammer Strength. I've done machine only before, but only due to nagging aches or recovering from injury. Some of them really allow you to focus on the muscle much more than you can with barbells or dumbells.
