Glutamine use

When getting ready for a show I use glutamine mornings, night, and I like to throw some in my water bottle when I'm training. Now I know conventional procedure is to have it immediately following your workout to aid in quicker recovery. My theory is that if I'm sipping on it thru-out my workout it gets into my system sooner for use. What do you guys think, good idea or am i basically wasting it?

I think if you are drinking a lot of water it may flush it through faster than you'd like. I take mine in the morning.

I am taking the pro performance gnc brand.....
2 capsules 600mg per capsule...

What is the dosage your taking. JS
 
I buy Schwartz labs and use a tsp in the morning and one at night.

You may get better absorption with a shake or food than just water?
 
i'm using around 40 gms of glutamine peptides , and u know how bad they taste , so i just mix it with my post workout and before bed shakes which are pretty big .
and as far as sipping glutamine during workout , i think a 50 gm whey shake would take care of most things , especially the higher bcaa content in them is good , i dont really like during workout drinks , water is best .
 
I wouldn't know what to think. I'm torn on the whole glutamine issue. Some say it's worthless and some it's priceless. I have heard both from guys that are huge.
 
actually , going by science, its supposed to be like expensive sugar lol , but either way , if there is any hope , the peptides are the best delievery method u have along with normal protein powder , as simple as that .
 
I would definitely take it immediately after your intense workouts KR. Use the powder form (5g) over the capsules. Mix it with whey protein isolate and water in a shaker during your drive home............then have a Huge Shake with all your supps when you get in.

It's helped my physique out tremendously bro!
 
I honestly think it doesn't do a damned thing.

Anyone who has worked with me or knows me, knows that I don't give 2 shits what Dr. Jonny says, nurse suzy, guru jimmy or spongebob buffpants about whether something works or not. I have to see for myself. I have used glutamine at doses higher than 50g a day for extended periods of time and have then cut them out completely and have noticed no difference in strength, condition, fullness, etc.. Now, that may not be the only way to tell if something works but if I don't notice a difference in ANYTHING at all after dropping from over 50g to nothing, I don't feel it has much promise as something that has received so much hype over the years. Yes, it may have other positive attributes but if they don't impact my gains, condition, strength, etc., then I don't give a shit.

I believe that it would need to be delivered in a different manner than orally to be effective.

This is just my opinion, though.

anyway i find i recover a tad quicker with the glutamine. It aids in sugar cravings while dieting and helps boost the immune system! Now lets talk BCAA and i dont mean what can be used in drinks im talking extra.... that my friends is the key to my success..

IN prep i recomend 10 before 10 during and 10 after and Please find someone that doesnt respond with harden muscle and faster fat loss!!! I use this same system and have shared it a few others at the national level that swear by it also! ... If you want an edge somtimes its not in an amp!

very true bro ! cant agree more , even when i was natural , i had read poliquin's writings recommending atleast 20 gms bcaa while training , so i religiously followed this , and i grew very quickly , again during fat loss , i'm sure it helps like u said .

Skip-And thats what I'm really looking for here, prior experience and opinions, cuz I can read the scientific studies all day long and actually digest very little useful information from it. I like to hear what other people actually do.

Now lets talk BCAA and i dont mean what can be used in drinks im talking extra...
DP- I was also in the habit while dieting to take BCAA's before a workout and do feel it helped to decrease muscle catabolism, specially on the low carb days. Maybe I'll just do that again but also add more immediately afterwards.

I agree it absolutly helps me and my wife says the same recover faster, when I first started training years ago I would have said glutamine didnt do anything either but I can definatly feel the difference it makes now, dam skip I would think a fine tuned machine like urself would notice these little things, or maybe ur recovery is amazing in itself,lol, could be

I would notice it as I have extremely constant variables from day to day. I train at the same time, all meals are the same and at the same time everyday (except for saturdays when I have high carb days), and my supplementation is the same, daily, also. I am one boring and predictable phuker. hehe
In my case, I just didn't notice anything at all and I have put it in and taken it out of my supplement schedule many times with the same results. Might just be me, I guess. *shrug*

Maybe I am on so much gear that these "small" things don't matter. lol

Same here. I always use new supplements by themselves so i know what effect is has.
Glutamine doesn't do anything for me at any dose.
