Who runs for cardio? I think that shit burns up waay too much muscle and is shitty for the joints, but I'm gonna start doing in once a week jus for my PT tests (plus the weather's is nice and there's bound to be bitches at the park, haha). I usually jus walk on an incline treadmill or do a couple sets of sprints if I'm in need for some intensity. This will be my first time running in 8 months, so we'll see how I do. Wish me luck!

i dont run much knees arent what they used to be and thats sad for me to say since im so young, 13 years of catching will make you old quick i guess. I do alot of inline walking about 2.8 3.0 mph at 10% incline or so i burn just as many cals on that as i do on the eliptical. I do alot of eliptical too just dont like it lol.

I havent ran in years. My daughter ran some cross country at one of her summer
camps and loved it. She wants to keep doing it and I always want both my kids to
always be doing some kind of activity. She is only 12 so I am starting to take her,
trying for 3 times a week. I aint crazy about running but I'm interested to see how
the cardio works for me. Hope my body holds up.

I've been a runner for about 10 years now, there's no better exercise for you in my opinion, I wished I had started when I was a kid. The thing about it is that it's actually not bad for your joints at all, the human body was made to run. What's bad for your joints is upping the mileage or speed too quickly. If you ramp it up slowly your joints will be fine. I'm going to try and start running more regularly myself.

wow, fuckin good point mikeswift... it does make sense that we were meant to run, so why would it be that bad on the joints, hmmm... again, good point!

bad point mike fuck that runnin shit lol i weigh too damn much lmao. Still hurts the shit out of my knees unless im on a nice track or a park with fine gravel on the walk. But i still pay for it later. sucks to be 22 and have the knees of a 45 year old lol.

Thanks for the input Mike. All you hear is "running is BAD for the joints".
I used to run cross country - we would run about 12 miles a day then sprints.
I felt like I could hit a pace and run all day. I'm going to give it a shot, just
increase gradually.

helli played baseball through highschool then shoulder injury as most bros know. But our coach was the cross country coach too lmao. We spent more time on that fucking track then they did it sucked balls.

well, the body was made to run. If not, we would have starved all long ago.

BUT, the body also isn't made to be 200+lbs. I run fine at 160lbs, my normal athletic weight. But at 200+lbs, not so comfortable. and bulked at 230lbs...forgetaboutit.

I ran marathons at 190lbs. so I know if you increase your running mileage and intensity slowly you can do it without hurting your joints. Hell I know overweight women in their 50's who run marathons.

Running and Arthritis - Running and Jogging Exercises for Arthritis
Information on running and arthritis.

Running may still be good exercise for those with arthritis if they run on softer surfaces. Walking or more gentle forms of exercise may be a better option for those with arthritis in their lower extremities. Research indicates, contrary to popular belief, that running does not cause osteoarthritis in those with normal, uninjured knees.

mike likes to run though i cant stand it. I hate cardio period lol. My knees swell up from torn cartilage etc. so i stick to the treadmill ;).

you gotta do what works for you man. I used to hate running so much because all I knew how to do was walk or sprint. When I finally learned how to control my pace and actually "jog" it made all the difference in the world
