Leg day today. First day at a new gym - wife and I JUST moved back into our house in NJ from Las Vegas area, where we've been living for 2 years. Still a little bit jetlagged hut was having a great workout! Did heavy leg presses, leg extensions, supersetted seated calf extensions in there... Then on to hamstrings and thinking maybe lunges after that. Was doing stiff leg deadlift, not very heavy at all, and halfway through the second set I felt like I'd been stabbed in the low back! Goddammit, now I'm gonna be half crippled for at least a week!

I start a new job tomorrow, and I'm gonna be half hobbling in! This happens to me every now and then, usually when I'm squatting relatively heavy. It seems like my glute yanks on my lower back and strainsbit. But never has it happened during stiffleg deads! Shit! Shit! SHIT!!!!

So now I'm popping Advil and sitting on a Gottverdammt ice bag. And probably NOT working out tomorrow! Did I say SHIT!!!

Damn sorry bro rest as much as possible, NSAIDS, and ice. That sounds like a situation that would fall under "shit that happens to me" I almost always get sick the day before I start something new, have it be an intense University program, clinicals at a new place, a new job etc

I tore my teres minor last week. Been spending lots of money on different things due to my upcoming life changes, but I NEED to budget in some IGF. I'm going to try to do back tomorrow. Light, but I think I can still get a great workout

No 2 ways about it, injuries SUCK!! This one will pass, but DAMN a hurr lower back puts a cramp in EVERYTHING!

Dude, I don't even know what a teres minor is, but I've had torn tendons before and that ain't no fun...

sorry to hear this brutha! lots of advil should help! let us know how your feeling today, and where a bouts in NJ did you move back to? not specifically, just north, south central, i ask cause I'm in New jersey and was wondering where ur at and training out of curiosity

Y, I'm on a steady diet of advil! As long as I'm moving around I'm in tolerable shape. Still hurting but getting by ok.

Presser,
I'm right smack in the middle of NJ, on the outskirts of the Pines. Training at Retro Fitness; there are 2 fairly close by, one is about 5 min from work. What part of NJ are you in?

Just warming up on pull downs. I still have some nerve problems and spasmed areas from the thing with my neck. I need massages, but they won't cover those and they're really expensive. I can't take most NSAIDs b/c they interfere with the fusion process. I'm a master at training around little injuries so I'm not really concerned

Everyone on here is getting injured.... Well good luck with it and baby it a bit, and good luck with the healing process. Let me ask though, with the fusion process why is the inflammatory response needed?

I have 2 to 3 "muscle tear" issues every week, getting old sux lower back, upper trap, neck, lower bi oh and the damn shoulder...but I cant stop liftin heavy. Cripes I need 225lb on my back just to push me down to parallel on the squat these days :satan: but to my point; FOAM ROLLER, 10-15 bucks and 15 minutes a day its a wonderful thing!

I think it has to do with keeping blood flowing to the area, carrying nutrients. Not sure about this, but I di know for absolutely certain that NSAID's interfere w fusion. Applies to broken bone healing as well.

That sucks bro. I know the feeling, Im dealing with a hernia issue and back issue too. Now I just really take it easy and watch how I move. it's funny because I only feel pain outside of the gym, but squatting and lifting heavy actually makes me feel comfort in those areas.

I did a back workout today - no deadlifts or barbell rows - and felt pretty good. As long as I'm moving around I feel semi ok. But when I get up for my middle-of-the-night pee I can barely hobble to the toilet! It is improving, but SLOWLY!!! And it doesn't hurt all the way down to my knees anymore... I really can't believe all this from lightweight stiffleg deads!

sounds like it should be fully healed in no time brutha!

Finally, FINALLY woke up today not in pain. I think I might be pretty much all better. Did lightweight deadlift this morning and cautious barbell rows during my back workout, and don't seem to be suffering for it. Thank God that's over!!!
