I've always trained with fairly quick tempo, either high weights and low reps, or low weights and high reps. Usually to failure. But I've seen some BBing videos where they train slow, like 2-0-3 or 3-0-3. They use around 60% 1RM.
The physics behind it was interesting... A 3 second eccentric is about 4 times more work than a 1 second eccentric due to the increased force you must apply to descend the bar slower.
So do most people training for mass use really slow tempo?
