I had a knarly biking accident when I was younger and seriously damaged my right knee. So on heavy squats and presses I typicaly willl wrap that knee. Wraps are protecting the previous damage but I feel also inhibiting strengthening of the ligaments. Unfortunately if I don't wrap even with icing for a day straight I can barely walk for three days because of knee pain. So this is my stupid question. Should I wrap my left knee to inhibit the strengthening of that joint? I've been thinking that if my left continues to get stronger while my right does not because of the previous injury, I may have further problems down the road. Any thoughts?

great question bro! i would wrap the bad knee only personaly becuase i would be afraid that my left knee(the good one) would become weaker due to its dependency on the wrap, so u have a great question which i think needs a better answer then some ones opinion like i just gave you,

If you are going extremely heavy you should be wearing them, but until you develop that area, you should be hitting it lighter and strengthening it. Wraps are good for teaching the body to handle higher weights as well, they don't do the work of the ligaments and joint, they supplement it.

bro do u think your knees would get dependent on them especialy the good knee he doesnt need the wrapo for?

i always wrap during the heavy sets. the one thing you dnt want to do is wrap for every set, then your knees will become dependent on them

same as I was going to say. If your knee hurts for three days after I would
try to only wrap for the heavy sets. See how that works for you.
Personaly I would only wrap the knee that needed it.

I don't think wraps are smart for bodybuilding, more for strongman or powerlifting only!!

what about if your trying to hit new PB's on leg exercises though? Would wraps be a place to start?

I guess you could, you know like straps presser for heavy shrugs and all, you know how when you shrug heavy with straps for awhile, your overall weights go up without them...thats how the knee wraps perform.

Bump that.
