Losing muscle while dieting is actually a misnomer. You are not losing muscle cells. What is happening is the muscle cell is stripped of the protein and the water is flushed out but the cell remains intact along with the nucleus which holds the dna muscle memory information. The cell is simply much smaller but does not disappear. Once the cell is needed again due to heavy lifting the cell expands and along with adequate protein it goes back to its original larger size. This is why bodybuilders quickly regain there muscle once adequate lifting and calories are resumed. :chicken:
