:arcade: i need to go to the doc tommorow. and right now i got the injection spot infected. it got a big lump and its red and warm. i will be seeing my doc tommorow but i dont know what to tell him. do i tell him the truth and tell him i took 1 ml of the steroid or should i tell him something else help me

he shouldn't. i had infections in both of my tri's about a month and a half ago from dirty aas and she fixed me right up in about 3 days.

I had to go to the ER before because of injection pain and swelling. I told them the truth. You will be fine, they can not release your info. But you will feel alittle sheepish! Because most places have not delt with steroid cases, so they send for other doc's to look at the problem.... I think I had 4 dr and 2 assistants look at my ass. All of them asking me why I take AS I am big enough do i realize the risk!?! WOW! GOOD LUCK bro... Feel like you are back in school having your mom asking you 20 questions!
>>>Tell them the truth bro you will be fine.

I agree about telling the doc the truth....but I might consider using a doc unfamiliar with me and who will not report to my insurance company....
Pay cash.

big ass bump..go to a walk in clinic

Here is some general advice on "accidents " as happened here. If you want to sticky the info please do it under someone elses name.
I am an ex-lawyer...so this is not legal advice.

When you get a prescription the pharmacies keep a unified data base of prescriptions which you have given permission by way of your insurance contract to release to the insurance company.
Fear not. the trick is to tell your cash paid doctor up front that you are taking your medical records with you when you leave his office. If he allows this....this is your doc buddy...from now on.

If the insurance does try to contact him he is under an obligation of privilege not to reveal anything...so they never talk to the doctor...they go to the insurance preparer of the office and act as though (without saying) that you paid by way of insurance for the service....the typical paper pushing idiot then looks for medical records which are not there. If the insurance company ever contacts you about the prescription (and you know if they do this schema worked) you can always say you had an infected ingrown nail or other plausible excuse as to why you needed antibiotics. Do not get hospitalised or you are screwed.
Comprende?

Truth

Bump. Don't lie, tell the truth...I am with Cyphon on this one.

The Iron is the Answer!!

Actually to if it is an insurance issue, then that is another question. It all depends on yoru relationship with your doctor though. I have an open one with mine and he learns from me about AS b/c he really doesn't have much experience with it. He uses my experiences and bloodwork to further his own knowledge and have even checked out the sites a few times...

I did a search for practical advice similar to what I described above....you got some great stuff here....but it is all over hell and back. If interested next weekend I will start compiling the information for a general advice sticky to be put under a moderators name....But I will only make the effort if there is an interest in such....and of course I will add my own editorial comment and additional 2 cents.

Weekends I tend to be bored and I love nitty gritty research.

I would not suggest telling the truth. They'll fix you up either way.

What good can come of it? Are they going to be able to treat an infection any better? An infection is an infection.

either way, let them look at it and tell them your symptoms (hot, swollen, reddish...). they'll know it's an infection and can give you meds for it. it's your choice to tell them how you got it or not.

i wouldn't tell the truth... the possibility of it getting back to your insurance company alone isn't worth the risk. yeah chances are that it will never get back to your insurance but it has happened and just the precedence alone is reason enough for me to err on the side of caution. and being that my wife and family don't know, this would not be a good way for them o find out...

i had an infection in my quad in the spring from an inject, went to the doc and played stupid... he made his own assessment said i probably just had a small muscle tear in my quad and it got infected, and this is a sports medicine doc...

remember that the doc's office is a business and you are a customer... you don't need to tell him anything unless it will affect your treatment... he does not need to know that your on.

there are times i would absolutely tell him but in this kind of circumstance the risk outweighs the benefit

Only if you used insurance to pay or the insurance company pulls the trick I described above. And if you think they won't do the trick every now and them....lol.

No disrespect ratchet, but if the seniors aren't interested the effort would be wasted.

No Disrespect taken Bro.

However, I would like to point out that just because the "seniors" are not interested does not in any way indicate your effort would be wasted.

On the contrary.

It is usually those who have never been through something like this for the first time that would benefit the most. These are the people who are generally not considered to be the "seniors".

The dissemination of good knowledge is good for all.

If the seniors do not buy into the idea...then no sticky.
Information is good but my idea is just compilation of information which can be found with a patient and specific search. Compiling is only useful if it is to be made a prominent feature of site. other wise it just becomes 1 more item that appears with a search.
