Well, I am starting to notice a little weight in my midsection and I don't like it. I guess the good thing is I know I'm not eating to little, but I guess I am eating too much. So here is my question. To try and keep the weight gains as lean as possible should I...

1) Remove some carbs and just eat less calories
2) Remove some carbs but replace them with some protein to keep caloric intake the same
3) Keep eating like I'm eating and add some cardio into my training
4) Other ________________________

I'm not sure which option would be the most effective so I thought some other opinions may be useful. Any input is appreciated :)

Yeah like press said, i just started hitting 1hr of cardio at 3.0 mph and im getting leaner and my strength is going up and weight is holding at 240.

10-4 thanks guys. I am trying to decide now, would it be better to do cardio post workout in the AM or split it up and work out in AM and cardio in PM?

I like getting home and pounding a protein shake right after working out and wouldn't be able to with cardio in AM. But, with getting out of class at 8pm, cardio at night wouldn't leave much time for anything else. Hmmm...

yeah cardio is a good start...But also, maybe on your offdays lower the amount of carbs your eating, and just have an lower cal day to throw the body off...No reason to have extra carbs in there if your not going to use them...

With cardio I would start out with 20 mins on the treadmill (higher incline) at 4 x week

Crg914, can you list your diet for us? There might be something else we could identify.

Sure bro. Here ya go.

Sometimes I switch things out. For example, instead of the chicken I may have 8 oz of Tilapia, or turkey. Or instead of a baked potato have mashed potatos (homemade, not instant). Things like that. I have already stepped it down as I was eating 5000+ calories and saw that was too much. I was gaining lots of weight but not quality weight. Just want to keep my gains as lean as possible.

Also, to answer Chris, on my off days I do eat less. I typically burn 800-900 calories during my workout so on off days I try to eat that many less calories to balance things out. Do you think I should eat even less on off days?

what are your stats? also, i don't see any greens in there, i'd deff add those into every real meal..maybe cut the pasta and switch to a big sweet potato instead of regular potato

25 years old, 6'1" 195lbs. I am not really a fan of sweet potatos so if theres any other options that would be better. Sometimes I eat baby reds instead of russet potatos.

well, maybe just drop one or the other, i would say your macro split should be around 40 40 20 and you're higher in carbs right now.. other than that, looks good to me, so i'd just add in some cardio like the others said. i hate dropping my cals if i don't have to.

Thanks bro. I hate dropping cals too. I find that even with 4500 calories a day, I still get hungry from time to time. I would hate to have to eat even less.
