Over Training a Myth?

I'm in the middle of my 3rd week of a High Frequency High Volume routine by the "Govenator." Last year I was doing a full body routine 3x per wk then went straight into the same HFHV routine I'm doing now but had to basically drop to doing calisthenics because of dry joints / bone pain ; I blamed it on over training but think it was too much arimidex ( I didn't fully understand arimidex at the time )

i feel amazing this time around ; managing arimidex dosage better & feeding my body 225g to 250g protein ed & carbs are not throttled back any ( 380g to 420g ed ) . I've moved over a ton of weight ( literally ) per major muscle group by mid week w/ the muscles feeling energetic & recovered .

I'm starting to become a believer in the adaptability of the body and over training more of a diet / sleep issue not a limitation issue , what do u guys think about over training ?

You are benefiting from a change. I wouldn't stay on that program too long. I try to change things up about every 6 to 8 weeks.

i dont think over training is a myth... people do hitbrick walls from training too hard and sometimes it develops into chronic fatigue syndrome... but generally thats with marathon runners and cyclists. .id say its harder to over train with bodybuilding. If your on the gear i would say its highly unlikley you will over training due to how rapidly your body recovers

I agree i like to change things up every 8wks but i do change up the days during the whole 8 wks. Their no set day for a set muscle group so theirs a constant change. And i do keep the excise that work for and try to train them in different angles bar, dumbbells, cables ect. So in short change is always good keep what works for u and change/switch things around.

As long as you are eating enough. Gear is all about increased protein synthesis and recovery in my opinion. So eating enough is number 1 and sleep is number 2. Hey I just noticed your fucking avatar... Is that Eddy from Iron Maiden? Steve Harris is an amazing bassist. Bruce D was a little weird though from what I've read. hahah

I just did 20 sets of 20 reps on calves and they think they are overtrained at the moment. I'll let you know what they say to me tomorrow morning when my feet hit the floor. i am on test and primo.

Exactly!! You have to know your body and better yet you have to listen to it. What some consider overtraining others consider commonplace and a warm up. LOL

I really think the issue I had last year w/ the same routine was crashing my estrogen w/ arimidex - this go round I'm not really saying I'm gonna take X mg of adex - it's more like if I start to feel dry joints ( if u have ever had them u don't forget that experience ) I back down the dose / then if I notice puffiness then I bring it back up a bit . Using nolva as a buffer to keep estrogen high enough for joint comfort but blocking unwanted sides - I get sides really easy.

Also my carb intake is 100g more than last year so lots of energy ready to go in the gym. This routine had my dick in the dirt until I increased my carb intake - specifically during workout .

I know the brick wall scenario but it can be overcome w/ patience & adjustments - over training by bb standards I'm not so sure of - I think like all things it's a cause and effect influenced by diet & sleep

once again I'm moving this into the proper forum and out of the general conversation forum

everyone is different , my buddy who is natural has 19in arms and will sometimes train them 3-4 days in a row, same with every other muscle group

At my age (54) over training can be an issue if im not careful. I do everything I can to recoup between sessions but some times it just dosent seem like im recouping as fast as I used to haha. Getting older has made me think harder and smarter when it comes to my training. I wish I could train like Branch Warren (well almost like him) but I realize that if I want to make back to my gym I have to train smarter.

I don't believe in muscle over training as far as injury but more in stunting it's development. I do believe in over training your CNS but causation from bodybuiling no.

Yes, everyone's different. I believe you can def overtrain! You've got to give the muscle time to recover...and that time is different with everybody. I may take me a week before fully recovering from chest day, where someone else may recover in 3-4 days. But you learn to listen to your body and know when it's really ready to be worked again. The muscle grows and gets stronger while at rest.... I have to remind myself of that all the time.

52 here. I alternate heavy training part of the year with lighter stuff another poart of the year. Then periodically I drop weight training down to 3 days a week or even 2 and grapple and run more and drop all steroids and do that for 4-6 months. I also stretch a lot. That helps probably more than anything.

I do believe in overtraining...but as stated above it's more the nervous system

if your nerves are firing 100x more than the average person during training they will wear out

I don't think that there is anything that can speed up there recovery process-like AAS or GH

caffeine will stimulate them but it won't help recovery

Without gear I think it's definitely possible and on low doses of gear as well sooo use more gear and train like a rabid silverback gorilla.
