With all the different ones out there, which ones are the most legit,
prefered, or best to have. I'm in Calif. (if that matters)

I know my wife and I have ISSA and out here in New Jersey it is a very reputable certification, but it varys so much from state to state that It would be wise to check in a couple different gyms local to you to see what is prefered out by you.

I have ISSA too and NSCA carries weight too. CSCS, what you see in almost all magazines these days is the NSCA cert of strength and conditioning specialist i believe

I don't have one and I have 34 clients that train on a weekly basis. The funny thing is out of the last 7 years I have been training (from my home) not one person has asked me about certifications. I have a degree in A & P but thats it. I guess thats one of the perks of owning your own business. :)

I have A.C.E. Personal trainer and Weight management consultant . Been a trainer for 10 years . Experience is the best teacher . I learned way more on the job . I've trained people from the age of 11 to 80 . One of the craziest was a one armed woman . That was a challenge

I have an ISSA and thought about going and getting my CSCS before I stepped away from training for my new job. CSCS is what a lot of the famous trainers are going with now and it requires a college degree, but to my knowledge, it doesn't matter what degree

Is CPR and firstaid certified a requirement on any of the mentioned? Curious..

CPR and now AED is required . I think first aid is optional although the gym may require you to have it if you work for them .

Reason I asked is guy around 70 had a heartattack on elliptical trainer and neither the gym owner or personal trainer knew CPR or how to use the aed o site but lucky for the gent a fireman was working out to save his life till medics arrived who defibbed him 3 times to get going..Washington state..
