Ok so this guy at the gym told me about this, he has done a multitude of contests in the past, great guy (in his 50s now) figured id share this.

What is Rolfing?

Rolfing, also known as structural integration, is a form of bodywork named after Dr. Ida Rolf, a biochemist who was influenced by osteopathy, physical therapy, and yoga.

The goal of Rolfing is to improve health by bringing segments of the body (e.g. pelvis, legs) into proper alignment.

Rolfing is based on the idea that fascia--the fibrous layers covering muscles--stiffens, shortens, and loses its elasticity after prolonged poor posture and mental and emotional stress.

Practitioners of Rolfing use their elbows, fingers, and knuckles to stretch and open fascia to correct the habitual patterns of misalignment in the head, shoulders, abdomen, pelvis, and legs. This is believed to help open up breathing, improve digestion, balance the nervous system, and improve physical and emotional health. Conditions Treated

  • Poor posture
  • Muscle tension and pain, especially in the neck, upper back, and low back
  • Other conditions caused by poor posture
What is a Typical Rolfing Treatment Like?

A typical course of treatment is 10 weekly, 1 hour sessions, with each session focusing on a certain area of the body. The practitioner begins by examining your posture, and take photographs so that you can see the before and after changes.

You will be asked to sit or lie on a massage table or floor mat, and the practitioner will begin the Rolfing movements. The practitioner usually asks you to breath in sync with the manipulations.

Is Rolfing Uncomfortable?

Rolfing usually does cause some discomfort and pain when the pressure is applied. Practitioners say this a "reaction pain" that may be necessary when releasing tissue adhesions and correcting habitually poor posture. <!--/gc-->

this is the best to get if you can fing somebody good at it.
yeah thats what the guy told me, he said not to many ppl really even do it at all, he said there was a 72 year old woman that did it beachside but moved.. He said u get that done than lift (after waiting like 2 days bc u cant lift right away) half the weight and get more of a pump than anything else

yeah it is pretty intense.

I was thinking the same thing brutha, kind of sounds like the same thing

and I love deeeep body messages, I would love to try this as well!
I was thinking the same thing too. It seems like the rolfing they are actually doing alot more, not just appling pressure but untwisting tendons (from what the guy told me) but im not sure as this is a new thing for me

My brother-in-law got it years ago. He said it felt like the guy was moving or rearanging his back muscles. Said he hurt for days and
was one of the most painful things he ever experienced. I seriously think my back could benifit from it but dont hear about it to much
anymore and I would definitly want someone who knows what he is doing.

I feel the same way but that even goes with reg massages

I used to get this done many years ago, pain like you have never experienced, makes deep tissue massage feel like you are being touched with feathers. It is insane but unreal how you feel after a few weeks of it. If you find someone who does it, don't feel weird when he gives you a towel to bight on during treatment.

Yeah he used to beg me to be quiet and not yell during treatment (many people do) when he had new clients in the waiting room, he did not want them to think he was going to hurt them too but he was a cool guy I used to fight him off me sometimes and he would push right back, he would laugh, he loved giving people pain. I would even see him out from time to time even at clubs and he would want to give me a quick treatment to help my carpal tunel so others would see me squirm, he got a kick out of how much pain he could give someone with such little effort.
Sometimes during treatment he would have 2 girls working on my legs and calves, those bitches would dig into my calves and hams with their elbows. After my 1st treatment I got up and fell down because I could not stand, must have been something they did separating the muscles and breaking up the fascia. He had my other friend doing full splits on the ground after a month or so of treatment, you really become flexible.
