Holly Flock! I've got the worst frigging shin splints after walking like a mile (they started at the 1/2 way point). Not sure if it's all the water I'm holding following the show (up 18 lbs in 2 days), or the tren I loaded in the days leading up to the show, but man do they hurt! Everything feels tight, though - biceps, forarms, legs

I know the feeling, I just got over them a few months ago.

The only thing that helped and didn't make a huge difference was wrapping them, and ibeprofin.

jog backwards pushing off ur toes, this will alleviate the shin splints pain for a while, works for me befor a game if i have shin splints, been along time but its usualy from massive weight influx and the shins dont addapt so fast , they hurt like hell

or you can freez paper cups of h2o and then peel side off and rub them up and down you legs! My damn legs are so swollen lol I have cankles now! I look like fat bastard!

I like the cups ice thing... it massages and ices down...Jogging backwards helps as does walking up a treadmill at the highest incline possible picking up knees high and dorsi flexing toes towards knees.
If pain persists and you dont want to take ibuprofen put your legs into a large bucket of 1/2 ICE and 1/2 Water for about 10minutes a day. YOu'll love it.

I think it's just because I'm retaining so much freaking water. Everything is cramping, even my knuckles!

oooh i know that knuckle shit, like u cant make ur fingers touch ur palm cuase there so bloated, been there

I used to get them all the time when I was running real big (6-10 miles/day). I switched to Asics shoes and they stopped. I tried other brands and they restarted, then I went back to Asics for good and they stopped again.

sundevil is right, if your shoes are worn out, that can really contribute to having shin splints big time.

I saw something in a mens health mag before, and was suprised at how quick these running shoes wear out, even though they still might look fine.

I had...

a great post on this once (if I my say so myself;))

Don't know if it's still around with all the reorganizations this board has been through. Try the search button.

I want to start running myself too again, but since I've gotten quite heavy I'm pretty scared too. IMHO running is not something a serious bodybuilder should do. Your 'build' is more than your 'frame' can support.

Damn... I feel for anyone with shin splints... mainly because I have been complaining about mine all damn day. *smile*

Started about 2 weeks ago and I have just been grinnin and bearin it... but I don'T think they are getting better... if anything worse.

I've always thought they were just one of the many reasons I hate to run. *smile*
