Shins and deadlifting

I pull deads with a sumo stance and drag the bar up my shins. My shins are scarred up from this and everything I let them heal I end up cutting them up again as soon as I get into my 2nd set or so. I cut them when I have pants on, high socks, anything. Anyone else have this problem? I mean I don't mind it until summertime because now I look like a child who skinned his shins on bike pedals and I get asked all the time what happened. Then when you tell them they have no clue what you're talking about
 
I was JUST going to post about this. I wore shorts while doing deadlifts for the first time today and scraped the fuck out of my knees. Didn't realize I did that till now.
 
I pull the bar all the way to my shins before I lift but I have never seemed to scrape up my shins or my knees. Not sure what I'm doing wrong...LOL

It only happens like this when I'm doing sumo style. If I go conventional stance I just bruise my knees from hitting them with the bar. The reason sumo does this is because the gnurling is on my shins instead of the smooth part like when I do conventional

Yea to the ignorant general public, they think deadlift is something you do as a funeral home employee
 
Chicks dig scars. Mine bleed down my shins when my trainer had me doing deads only for a workout.
 
always helped me, but if your already scabbed over all you'll do is reopen the scabs

From soccer and deadlifts, my shins are all scar tissue. At times it is an adrenaline rush, but it does look bad at work since I deal with the public and wear shorts
 
Why don't you try shin guards that soccer players wear? They even sell the ones that inside the socks that would be more comfortable.
