Maxout today on bench , I used a spotter that I never used before because my spotter was not with me. He was one of my friends regardless , On the lift off of 315lbs. He took his hands off of the bar , before I had elbows extended on the unrack. So weight falls to my chest bounces , and goes onto my throat , which not all of the weight I think pushed onto my throat before I pushed it back up. Because I would think my throat would be crushed.

Happened really fast.

Holy shit man! Hope you're alright. What did he have to say after it happened?

God that is a real scare---man I hope you are ok. Could of cracked your sternum. I never do power moves without my husband there just can't trust people. I hate doing legs on the smith machine but that is the only alternative if he is not there.

Im fine , when it first happened my throat was a little sore , but other than that no problems , no paints or even sore spots on my chest , just a red looking scrape. I dont think im going to ask for lift offs anymore either. Regardless of muscle fatigue from lifting off of the rack , shouldnt be too much of an energy loss. Besides the benefits of not getting hurt on lift off would even it out.

After I got up off of the bench I slapped him in the eye with a 2.5lb plate , left about an inch gash on his eyebrow , about the same look as when boxers get cut above the eye.

I always lift off myself. I had a guy (who I thought knew what he was doing) give
me a spot. When I got stuck he used one hand and just lifted one side. I was lucky
I didn't blow out my other shoulder. Dam, I should have hit him w/a weight!!
I am very selective nowadays.

Holy shit. I would smacked him with a 45lber. If you can't lift the weight off the bench yourself don't lift the weight. Something I learned long ago. I never fully trust anyone especially when it comes to lifting heavy weight. Also I stopped doing "max-outs" long ago due to the nature of injury it can cause if you or someone else screws up.

My maxes come in multiple reps.

Ya I would have knocked him out don't blame you. That dumbass!!! Glad you weren't hurt.

i am lucky that at my gym there are plenty of hardcore guys who i am freinds with that i can actually trust, that and since i am the night manager i have one of the trainers (real trainers not those bally fucksticks) help me out

I must be one of these spotters, I was pissed yesterday, I get in the gym, not even there 2 sec's and a friend of mine was like can you give me a spot. Now just getting over a back injury from a couple months back and taking it light in the gym, i say yes, cause hes not a big kid. I get over to the military press and he has fucking 315 on the bar. I told him i couldnt give him the lift off, to get someone else and he said he had it... To my surprise He couldnt lift the damn thing an inch and im standing there bent over trying to lift 315 with a bad back.. Guess what, this morning woke up and my back is hurting... Damn Friends in the gym ( HATE THEM )

so far all day its been feeling alittle shifty.. will now have to take a couple days off just to rest and make sure it doesnt turn into something worse..
