So i want to trim down some more for summer and the elliptical and treadmill wasnt cutting it for me. It was just way too boring for my hyperactive brain...So two weeks ago i started jogging on the mountain bike trails around my place and i have to say its been a great break up from the usual cardio methods.
I noticed the uneven terrain is a factor as far as difficulty goes. I find it way easier to go longer distances on a track or treadmill. I'm embarrased to say my first night 1.5 miles almost killed me but I've been going every other night now and last night I finally went a little over 3.5 miles.
One thing i really noticed is its much harder on my knees and ankles but it has been worth it so far. Hell i even found myself missing the gym last night in place of going for a run....
The good news is theres endless opportunites for new trails around my new place so it'll be hard to get bored.

I used to love it too. Getting out of the gym and actually seeing stuff go by instead of on a treadmill is great. Yes it is definitely more difficult with the terrain changes, just make sure you've got some good shoes to run in.

What kind of sneakers are you wearing for this running bro? Might sound like a dumb question but im seriously curious as to what type your running in. My wife has certain sneakers for certain types of running so i was curious what you ran trails in

i got a pair of Merrell gore tex shoes for it. It rains here all the time so i had to find something with decent tread and could keep my feet fairly dry. They're working out so far

Awesome...I've been thinking about hitting the trails myself. I get bored easily on the treadmill and have been slacking off lately.

That's something I miss. I have to walk carefully or I can hurt something. The most cardio I've done in the last decade was 40 minutes walking on a treadmill. It kind of sucks....
