I notice all the low carb products now have these instead of sugars. So, what's the difference. Does your body treat them any different then straight sugars ?

I also would like to know if they spike insulin the same way as sugar, if so, then they are a waste i would think

Sugar alcohol has little to no effect on insulin in small quantitys, although large amounts can spike insulin. Sugar alcohol contains 1.5 - 3 calories per gram (depending on type). Bloating and diarrhea can occur when sugar alcohols are eaten in excessive amounts. Sugar alcohols can cause a laxative effect. Weight gain has been seen when these products are overeaten. The American Diabetes Association claims that sugar alcohols are acceptable in a moderate amount but should not be eaten in excess.

thnx bro, very good explanation, now the sme could be said about eating sugar in excess amounts, lol, so do you think they are that much better?

Thats all my wife and I use! We go through 2 gallons of unsweetened coolaid soft drink mixed with splenda a day, its the best tasing stuff around and actualy quenches my thirst unlike the other sugar substitutes like equal and sweet and low.

yeah it tastes great, I cant drink straight water to much, I even used the splenda drink right up to my show and it was fine, good stuff

i know this sounds really stupid, but if you make koolaid and splenda out of springwater then that counts as water intake? obviously?
