Well, my parents have gotten into their mid 50s and have both decided to get into shape. So they asked if I minded helping them out with what to eat, cardio tips and the such. These are the same family members that bought a Total Gym XLS because my dad is an infomercial sucker lol. But to their credit they've both been using this and seeing results. They're only doing that as far as any type of "lifting," but they're both making strides. Which isn't hard when you did nothing to begin with though. I'm kind of proud of them, my dad has come down from 235 to 201 in a little over 3 months. He's actually listening to my advice with the exception of getting him to eat 5-6 meals a day. He's being stubborn there, but he's been eating 3 clean meals a day with snacks (fruits, beef jerky, nuts) in between. That's about the biggest thing I can gripe about with him. He's stuck at 201 and I've told him that simply getting in more meals will get him to break that 200 threshold. My mom just started into everything about a month ago and she's not seeing any weight loss weight, but she has been noticing that she's tightening up (losing the flab in the tricep area, waist is getting thinner....). She's happy with the visual changes, but like a typical woman is gauging things off the scale a little too much. She's only lost 2 pounds, but I've tried explaining that it's typical to gain weight at first because of the addition of muscle and that you have to go off the mirror first and foremost and to forget the damn scale. Overall I'm happy that they've asked me to help them out as needed instead of paying some stupid shit head a bunch of money to just run them through the same thing their last 10 clients did.

Has any of the trainers out there ever been approached by family members? I'm no longer a trainer, but I still find that this is the hardest set of clients I've ever worked with simply because I feel over scrutinized. It's one of those things where you know you'll get to hear about how bad you suck if it doesn't work lol

Lol nah never trained any family mainly because I was raised by wolves in the Forrest . But if I did have a mom and dad I wouldn't want to train them lol

I really wish my family would seek my help. They all workout but really don't have a clue. They waste their money on all sorts of gimmicks. I have been in the iron game for over 20 years and competed in bodybuilding and strongman competitions, but they have never asked for any advice. Consider yourself lucky.

Yea, I was shocked when they started asking me questions. I mean I'm no big guy by any means, but I've competed in a few shows and have been a trainer in the past. My dad asked me last night what I did for abs and I'm pretty sure he thinks I was lying when I said nothing. I'm a firm believer that you have to take that layer of fat off of your stomach before you should consider doing abs. And I also believe that you get better looking abs from a diet than anything you can do in the gym

lol, I wouldnt even consider it. I dont have the patience. Also, family memebers just dont listen. I bet Bill Gates kids call "Geek Squad" to fix there computer. Im sure you get the drift

When my wife wanted to get trained I was smart enough to not want to deal with the stress. lol
My friend owned a gym and him and his wife, both ex competitive bodybuilders, were personal trainers.
I paid them to train my wife. She listened to them (when she wouldnt have with me lol) and tried
harder with them then she would have with me. Funny, she would tell me something great they
told/tought her and it would be something I had been telling her for years. lol
Its great your parents listen to you, in my case it was better to back off. lol
