Hey guys, IM lacking in this area.... Looking for ideas to develop it.

Looking for just a list of things you do such as:

incline bench with close grip
low seated peck deck

Also try incline dumbbell flys and a cable crossover that pulls from a lower angle. Like if your hands are about 45 degrees from the ground and make the motion pulling up.

I personally think it is how you do your inclines ...

do you lock your delts into the pad of the bench, and keep your chest up nice and high...Mid back is off the bench, but your delts and butt, lower back is down and touching the bench...

you cant really isolate one part of any muscle. when you contract your chest the WHOLE thing contracts. and we know your muscle grows from progressive resistance, and diet of course. so my advice would be to keep it simple, learn to push with your chest(mind muscle connection), and concentrate on getting stronger in that area with heavy basic movements. i gaurantee your chest gets bigger from inclining 315 for reps, rather than doing low pulley cable crossovers.

Agreed about adding the weight will add size but some people are never going to be able to incline 315 incline for reps.

He asked what would isolate his upper chest. Not what is going to tear his labrum.

obviously the weight is relative to your strength. i also know that he wont be able to close grip incline 315 ever. ask anyone that has a thick upper chest how they got it and zero people will say low pulley cable crossovers :lurk:

Zero huh? I guess I should not be doing incline dumbbell flys either? I guess only the fags I see at the gym do those. Tough guys only do 315 for reps on the incline. Its not about any one exercise He wanted suggestions of different things and I gave him some. Thats all.

I dont think you understand my point. I'll crawl back into my hole.

Thanks for playing.

This has really helped me fill out all areas of my chest especially on flat and incline bench....wasnt able to push as much weight due to me contracting my chest more but i can definitely see a major improvement.....i also think flyes should be strictly a finishing movement to get a pump and further exhaust a muscle and presses should be more relied on to really gain mass and fill out.....

i already incline 315 in my routine.... db knows this i think. But yeah, I can work on this technique.

but what about going with close grips? i thought that helps isolate inner chest???? I said this to a trainer today and she looked at me like i was a moron. I always thought this works inner... ????

Incline dumbbell press with about 70% max and seated cable flys. I know everybodys muscles reacts differently but this greatly improved my upper chest and strength as well.

Sorry to break it to you dude, you cant get a big chest with cable flys. I learned this today.

Btw everyone on the internet is an expert.

you know guys, i remember reading somewhere that some people can respond to just flat bench and incline. I think getswole posted something about developing the chest. DB most likely is one of those people is all.

Everyone is different. What works for me wont nessiceraly work for you. There are basic movements we should all incorporate(like incline bench) but to isolate certain parts of the chest like you asked for you need to try different things. Hence why I reccomended a few things that got shot down.

Everyone knows more weight=bigger muscles but this only goes so far. This is bodybuilding not powerlifting. Big Difference.

Like Chris250 said there needs to be a little mid muscle connection and concentration on the body part you want to hit.

Your right, you can't get a big chest off cable flys, I just did it for warm up and it seemed to help me.

you are still new here...but u will learn that you cant disagree with db...ever! :) obviously, just by looking at him, he knows his shit. but its HIS shit...that works for him. my chest doesnt grow great off of presses as my shoulders are stronger than my chest and takes the resistance. i still do presses, but machine flys make my chest hurt more. i advocate them too. not everyone is a db.

Bro, DB's point is that you have to increase weight progressively, and inclines are a compound exercise, working more of the muscle at one time in a motion that is natural to the chest, i.e., pushing. When you try to "isolate" too much, you aren't going to get the full growth effect you want to build mass/size. The 315 weight was just an example. The thread's purpose isn't to convince DB, but to give Normal some suggestions, and I'm sure Norm is glad to get all your suggestions.
