In the 90's I remember reading an article That Yates stated that his main purpose in the gym was to send a message to the particular muscle cells he was training that day. The message was one for stimulus for growth and adaption. This is all he would focus on before he went to the gym and while he was there. Yates went on to say that once the message was sent he stopped. The example he used for stopping was if you hit a nail into a board with a hammer and the nail is embedded in the wood would you keep pounding it afterward? Since then I employ the same method. Make the particular cells you are training an offer they can't refuse to grow.
