I am having to do my flat and incline bench presses on the smith machine now, due to my pec tear. Today was a first. It felt good on my chest, pain wise, but it didnt seem to work me like free weight. Just didnt get the pump that I used to. Ill keep at it though and see how it goes.

I do... I don't usually have a spotter and I feel more comfortable using the smith for some reason.

I'll use it for incline but that's it. Nothing can compare to the flat barbell (free wight). But for me, the incline hits the pecs WAY more than free wight - really takes much of the shoulder out of it. I think it's because the shitty gyms I go to have the beches that are fixed too high. The smith allows me to use an adjustable bench (allowing me to lower it considerably) and I find I get a much better chest pump rather than a front shoulder feel.

I use it sometimes, mostly when my partner isn't there. Sometimes we'll use the Smith though, if one of us is stuck at a weight, it's easier to put 20 more pounds on the Smith and then the next week try and do the same weight with the barbell.

I use it every once in a while to help me get through a sticky point when I am trying to go up in weight on my regular bench. This along with heavy dumbells seems to help. I also use the smith for shoulder press all the time.

its weird benching with a smith. I guess im used to moving fore aft a lot. That strict up down movement is weird to me.
