Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol Breakdown and Results (TBA)

Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol Breakdown and Results (TBA)

Canelo Alvarez will go to battle against the WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol.
Canelo Alvarez vs Dmitry Bivol will be a very intriguing match up to behold. Both men are extremely talented boxers in the prime of their careers. Alvarez will be the lighter man moving up in weight to take on the talented Russian champion. Let’s take a quick look to see how these two match up.
Canelo Alvarez
Canelo Alvarez continues to hunt down more belts and build an insane legacy as he faces off against WBA (super) light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. It’s a truly intriguing match up that will see Alvarez test the limits of his abilities against a larger opponent.

The ever ambitious Mexican boxer has tremendous power in both hands. Canelo Alvarez is a born and bred pressure fighter who excels in the short and mid range. He’s an excellent counter puncher who can use contact blocks or slick head movement to defend against opponent’s punches, returning fire before his foes can return to their guard. Look for Alvarez to test Bivol’s body throughout the twelve round affair.
Dmitry Bivol

Where Canelo Alvarez is a master of multiple ranges, Dmitry Bivol is the quintessential outside boxer. He likes to collect data with the jab and move around the ring before launching himself into his patented jab-cross combination. The WBA light heavyweight champion will also be the taller and naturally bigger fighter and will likely use this to his advantage.

Expect Dmitry Bivol to utilize his jab and movement playing matador to Alvarez’s bull. He’ll have to do his best to stay off the ropes, keep Alvarez guessing with feints, and keep the Mexican superstar at the end of his reach. It will be no easy task, but Bivol does have the kind of game that could give Canelo Alvarez plenty of trouble.

How Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Just Changed Women’s Boxing

How Katie Taylor vs Amanda Serrano Just Changed Women’s Boxing

Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano was must see boxing.
Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano just changed women’s boxing. At least that’s what promoters should take away from the event. These two women put on an absolute classic and demonstrate what’s possible if women’s boxing is giving the right kind of promotion.
In a weekend filled with a vast array of competitive combat competitions, there was one fight that may have stolen the show. While Marlon Vera dominating Rob Font was quite eye opening, and Shakur Stevenson putting on a masterclass against Oscar Valdez was illuminating, the fight on most everyone’s minds this past weekend was the battle between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano.
Why you may ask.
It’s because both women displayed exactly what the term fighter means. They both went to battle in an absolute war of a contest that you couldn’t take your eye off. What Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano did for women’s boxing, nay, boxing in general was nothing short of incredible.
The Story of the Fight

Amanda Serrano never took one step back in this fight. She was in seek and destroy mode from the opening bell until the final bell of the contest. She put her hard hitting, high volume pressure style up against Taylor’s more outside fighting style and nearly won. In fact there were a great deal of people in the sold out Madison Square Garden arena who believed Serrano had done enough. But it would be Katie Taylor who got her hand raised.
Speaking of Katie Taylor she did a phenomenal job in her own right. Through the bout she made Serrano miss and pay, using slick defense and counter punching throughout the ten round affair. When she employed the hit and don’t get hit style that made her the popular champion she is today she looked truly impressive.
With all that said both women gave as good as they got. The fight could have easily been scored a draw, but in the end the judges favored Taylor. But more than the ultimate outcome there was so much more to take away from this event.

More Than Women’s Boxing
We must acknowledge that what happened on April 30, 2022 was pretty rare. A night filled with combat sports and it was women’s boxing that stole the show. Women in mixed martial arts have been given their time to shine and have become a proven source of skill, will, and entertainment that all fans can appreciate. Yet for so long women’s boxing hasn’t been treated with the same fanfare.
That is until now.
Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano headlining an event at MSG is something for the history books. But while their match booking may have been an encouraging sign of the growth of the sport on the women’s end of the equation, it was up to Taylor and Serrano to deliver. Suffice it to say, both women showcased the kind of heart, will, technique, and determination that is worthy of the moniker “instant classic”.
What we saw on April 30 may have just turned the tide of women’s boxing. When you build up stars who have great personalities and the awesome fighting skills to back that up you get the opportunity to see something amazing come to fruition. The fight between Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano proved that no matter the gender if the people are giving a compelling match up you can fill arenas and build great interest.
Katie Taylor versus Amanda Serrano should be the blueprint to what women’s boxing should be. It should be given the same build up, presence and respect that men’s boxing receives. After the performances both women put on for the fans at MSG and around the globe, it’s clearly time that boxing makes this a regular thing and give the women of the sport more exposure to make this a common occurrence.

Tyson Fury’s Promoter Bob Arum Believes Fight With Francis Ngannou “Should Be Easy To Make”

Tyson Fury’s Promoter Bob Arum Believes Fight With Francis Ngannou “Should Be Easy To Make”

Could Tyson Fury and Francis Nggannou put up bigger numbers than Mayweather vs. McGregor?
Tyson Fury has not been shy about calling out a fellow heavyweight champion in recent years. Fury and UFC champ Francis Ngannou have been going back-and-forth about a potential crossover fight. According to Tyson’s Promoter and CEO of Top Rank Bob Arum, this fight might not be that difficult to set up.
Fury made remarks about this meeting once again following his knockout victory over Dillian Whyte. The crossover affair has been compared to another of its kind. Of course, that is Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor. Arum believes that this fight could be even larger.

“I think Fury and this UFC heavyweight champion, Ngannou, do bigger business than Mayweather and McGregor,” Arum recently told BoxingScene.
“They know each other and they know how much there is to be made for that fight…This UFC guy, assuming that he’s able to fight, that’ll do monumental business.”
That fight between Mayweather and McGregor saw 4.3 domestic buys, which is the second-highest buy rate in pay-per-view history. This was just behind Mayweather’s bout with Manny Pacquiao, which sold 4.6 million. Mayweather reportedly made around $280 million for the fight while McGregor, in a losing effort, took home $130 million.
Prior to his fight with Whyte, Tyson Fury announced that it would be his last and he had plans of retiring. This is true of official bouts but Fury has shown interest in appearing in exhibition fights and even teased a match wearing MMA gloves.

When McGregor made the switch to box Mayweather, it was the first time that a UFC fighter under contract was permitted to do so. This would not impact Francis Ngannou, who has no fights left on his current UFC deal. As champion, Ngannou is tied to his deal for another 12 months beginning this past January. Even so, Ngannou will not extend his contract if there is not a clause that allows him to take on Fury.
“The Tyson Fury fight has to be part of the discussion,” Ngannou told The MMA Hour.
“That’s not an option. It has to be part of the discussion because if that’s not part of the discussion, it never will be…If I sign another contract now, basically the same model of the contract, I’m screwed.”
According to Bob Arum, there is interest from both ends and we could see a Fury vs. Ngannou watch set up very soon.
“I don’t know what Ngannou’s contract situation over with the UFC is…Obviously, it’d be a massive fight, and it should be easy to make,” Arum said.

Benzino To Fight Aaron Carter After Failing To Lure 50 Cent Into Match

Benzino To Fight Aaron Carter After Failing To Lure 50 Cent Into Match

Benzino did his best to set up a fight with 50 Cent but was unsuccessful.
It looks as though Benzino will have a fight set up in the ring but not exactly with who he wanted. The Love & Hip Hop star has been attempting to get 50 Cent to box him but has been unsuccessful. Instead, he will have to settle for a match with Aaron Carter.
TMZ learned of this arrangement from Celebrity Boxing’s Damon Feldman. The contract has been signed by both men and the fight is scheduled for June 11 at the Charles Dodge Center in Pembroke Pines, FL. There is no exact word on how this fight will be structured.

It is clear that Benzino and 50 Cent have had their issues for awhile now. This includes calling each other snitches when it comes to federal issues. Benzino has called out the rapper but has not gotten the outcome that he wanted. Now, Carter is stepping in on behalf of one of his favorite rappers.
Aaron Carter shared a video on Instagram once this fight was announced.
“Why would you make fun and pick at one of my favorite rappers, 50 Cent. Why would you do that, huh?
“I will meet you in the ring and we can dance and we can have fun. it will be so much fun, right? this is a legend so don’t call yourself a legend. Nobody believes it, you little cry baby.”

This will be the first celebrity boxing match involving Benzino while Carter has competed before. In his first and only match to this point, Carter was knocked out by Lamar Odom in the first round. Carter has remained active on social media and believes he will have an edge in this match.
“A message to BENZINO let’s dance! I fought a giant and ended up with three concussions and was still standing! I’m curious to see how this plays out…. I had the BIGGEST celebrity boxing match EVER w @celebrityboxing1 and Damon So you’re lucky I’m even giving you this platform. MY LAST POST WAS REMOVED but you CANT remove me!! I’m back and this time it’s gonna hurt. @celebrityboxing1 I’ll be waiting for my contract. Have a blessed day ?,” aaron carter wrote on instagram.
Aaron Carter believes that his match with Odom will put him in an advantageous position. Benzino will have a chance to get a fight under his belt just in case 50 Cent ever wants to step in the ring. To this point, it seems unlikely.

After Scoring Massive KO, What’s Next for Tyson Fury?

After Scoring Massive KO, What’s Next for Tyson Fury?

After knocking out Dillian Whyte, what’s next for Tyson Fury?
After putting in a masterful performance against Dillian Whyte, what could be next for Tyson Fury? With so many different options on the table, there’s no shortage of opportunities for Fury. A match with one or two dangerous heavyweight boxers; a possible bout with a UFC champion; it’s clear that Fury has a number of options.
So what should be the next move for Tyson Fury? Let’s take a look at a few options for the WBC heavyweight champion.
Option 1: Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua Winner

Perhaps the most obvious choice for next match up is a battle between the winner of the Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua rematch. Tyson Fury has yet to fight either man and a boxing match with either of the two would determine who the absolute king of the modern heavyweight division is.

While Anthony Joshua has a number of losses on his ledger, a match with him would undoubtedly be must see television. A bout against the undefeated Oleksandr Usyk would be just as compelling. Usyk soundly defeated Joshua and has a style that could potentially give Tyson Fury trouble.
Fighting either man would certainly be a welcome treat for the fans.
Option 2: Francis Ngannou

Perhaps one of the more intriguing options for Tyson Fury is a potential match up with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou. Having wanted to box got quite some time, Ngannou has been campaigning to show his striking in the boxing ring.
While the benefits for Francis Ngannou would be quite significant with a win or a loss, Tyson Fury may find the prospect of a match with the UFC champion less than enticing. If Fury beats Ngannou then it would come as no surprise. Should he lose to Ngannou it would be a major blemish on his record.
With that said it would definitely be an intriguing match up, one that would garner a great deal of attention.
Option 3: Retirement

The third option is one that could likely be the next move for the WBC champion. If what he said in the ring wasn’t a bargaining tactic, Tyson Fury could likely retire. No athlete can compete forever and Fury has already achieved a great deal during his tenure as heavyweight kingpin. With an epic trilogy of fights against Deontay Wilder under his belt, Fury has already cemented himself in the greatest of all time conversation.
If his final bout was indeed against Dillian Whyte then it’s safe to say Tyson Fury had one heck of a career.
What do you think Tyson Fury should do next?

Errol Spence Jr. vs Yordenis Ugas Fight Results

Errol Spence Jr. vs Yordenis Ugas Fight Results

Errol Spence Jr. vs Yordenis Ugas is sure to be a barn burner.
The battle between Errol Spence Jr. and Yordenis Ugas promises to produce fireworks. Both welterweight boxing champions with great amateur backgrounds, Spence and Ugas hopes to showcase just how incredible both men’s skill sets are.
So who wins come Saturday night? Let’s take a closer look at the two fighters competing on April 16.
Spence vs Ugas Analysis

Errol Spence Jr.
A fighter with incredible fundamentals and genius tactics, Errol Spence Jr has been able to establish himself as one of the best boxers of this generation. Spence has already tangled with some of the best welterweights on the planet in Shawn Porter and Danny Garcia. He was able to secure victories over them by using a technical fundamental jab and superior positioning. He is always in place to throw offense and his pressure is difficult to deal with.

If Errol Spence Jr. wants to defeat Yordenis Ugas he’ll have to rely on that strong jab of his. Ugas is willing to set his feet and counter and Spence can use that. Having the bigger power and a dedicated body attack, Spence can use Ugas’ willingness to counter against him by baiting the counter and crashing into the pocket before his opponent can strike. Spence should constantly look to take up space, push Ugas back into the ropes then unleash hell when he’s cornered. Spence can use his dedicated jab to occupy space, duck under when the counter is thrown and obtain the clinch. Eventually he can use those opportunities to breakdown Ugas with body shots before stringing together combinations for a potential finish.
Yordenis Ugas
When it comes to brilliant footwork and counter fighting Yordenis Ugas is a master. A Cuban national trainer in the famed Cuban amateur boxing system, Ugas was drilled with the skills that has made that program world renown. His performance against boxing legend Manny Pacquiao opened a lot of eyes. He was able to counter the legends shots and constantly beat him out of critical positions. It was a hard fought victory, one that put Ugas on the map.

Now faced with another monumental task, Yordenis Ugas is set to face the talented Errol Spence Jr. If he hopes to defeat Spence, Ugas will have to use his footwork to stay off the ropes and avoid a fire fight at all costs. While he may have decent pop on his punches and the willingness to throw, Ugas was not blessed with devastating power. He’ll have to look to catch Spence out of position and counter over his southpaw jab. Building off that he should choose to pot shot from the outside and keep his feet moving to avoid an inside fight at all costs. Staying in the pocket is a dangerous proposition for Ugas and if he hopes to attain a victory he’ll need to win this fight from the outside.
Fight Results
After an entertaining back and forth battle, Errol Spence Jr. defeats Yordenis Ugas by TKO (doctor stoppage).
The bout was back and forth through the first six rounds. Yordenis Ugas even hurt Errol Spence Jr. in the sixth round. In the seventh Spence came back strong and hurt Ugas multiple times. Eventually it would be the swelling of Ugas’ right eye that would force the doctor to wave off the fight.

Martyn Ford Down 58 Pounds Since Boxing Training Began: ‘Getting Back To Feeling 21 Again’

Martyn Ford Down 58 Pounds Since Boxing Training Began: ‘Getting Back To Feeling 21 Again’

Martyn Ford has seen significant changes in his physique since he began boxing prep.
Martyn Ford might not be fighting the Iranian Hulk anymore but this does not mean that he will stop training the way he has been, especially when he is seeing incredible results. Ford has admitted that he has lost 58 pounds since he began training like a boxer.
Ford took to social media to express how he is feeling the best he has in years. Ford was training with heavy weights and this is how he has built incredible mass. Once he made the transition to boxing, Ford was able to cut weight but maintained his shredded physique.

“Lifting big ass weights VS Boxing …… 360lbs vs 302 lb ….. October I started this journey, and like anything I’ve done in life that I’ve really wanted to do, I’ve given absolutely EVERYTHING and more. This is by far the best and healthiest I’ve felt in years, getting back to feeling 21 again is insane …. if you have a serious goal to achieve get in touch today …. link in BIO … www.martynfordcoaching.com”

It was announced two weeks ago that Martyn Ford would no longer be taking with the Iranian Hulk. Ford made the announcement via Instagram explaining that the event is still on but he would not be featured. There will now be a new main event for the night of boxing on April 30 at the O2 Arena in London.
The Iranian Hulk did not take well to this announcement responding that the cancellation came from Ford’s side and he was going to sue. Ford made a statement once again explaining that the fight was canceled for health and safety reasons along with concerns about mental well-being following a television interview by Sajad Gharibi.

Before the fight was canceled, Ford was sharing videos of his training. He was focusing on speed and agility rather than strength like he has in the past. Clearly, this led to a major physique change and this is something that Ford is interested in maintaining.
Martyn Ford has been linked to other opponents but it is unknown who he will take on in the ring. It seems like Ford still has a chance to step in the ring in the coming months.

Martyn Ford Says Fight With Iranian Hulk Canceled Because Of Concerns On “Mental Well-Being” And “Health And Safety Risks”

Martyn Ford Says Fight With Iranian Hulk Canceled Because Of Concerns On “Mental Well-Being” And “Health And Safety Risks”

Martyn Ford shared some more information on social media about his cancelled fight with Iranian Hulk.
Martyn Ford revealed last week that his fight with the Iranian Hulk was canceled. What ford left out was an exact reasoning as to why this happened but framed Sajad Gharibi as the reason. This is something that did not sit well with Iranian Hulk as he fired back. Now, Ford is claiming that there were many concerns out of the ring.
Gharibi quickly responded following Ford’s video and shared that the cancellation came from Ford’s side. Because of this, Iranian Hulk was prepared to sue for a contract breach since it was not his decision to pull out of the fight.

Despite the back and forth between fighters, there was still no reason revealed and this left fans in the dark. Ford recently shed some light on his side via social media when one person asked point blank why the fight will not be happening.
Martyn Ford responded that there were “concerns on mental well-being and also health and safety risk involved with this matchup.”
“They say a picture speaks a thousand words. Let’s just say, what they turned up WAS NOT what was sold to us by the investors. This followed up by crying on the TV and saying that he wants to end his life. Was enough for us.”

It seems as though the cancellation did indeed come from Ford’s side but they had reasons. He is referring to the television interview that recently came out of the Iranian Hulk explaining the relationship with his family following their stare down. Gharibi became emotional when discussing how his family reacted to the situation.
Ford also shared a picture of Iranian Hulk where he is looking significantly downsized. This was to be expected as he trains in different ways to prepare for a fight but the weight he lost is eye-opening and apparently was a cause for concern for Ford and his camp.
Despite the cancelled fight, Ford has continued to train and will likely step in the ring soon. In his original video, he revealed that it will not be on April 30 but the event is still on at the O2 Arena. The main event will feature a new fight that has not been shared yet.
Martyn Ford has recently shared some dream fights, including one with The Rock, but it is unknown who his next opponent will be. Ford has also been linked to Hafthor Bjornsson, following his victory over Eddie Hall.
As of now, we have a reason as to why the fight between Martyn Ford and Iranian Hulk was cancelled. What we do not know is if Iranian Hulk will respond once again or if they will ever step in the ring. Now, we will have to wait for Ford to announce his next opponent.
