Calum Von Moger ‘Finding His Own Place Back in World’ Talks Bodybuilding and Future Plans

Influencer and bodybuilder Calum Von Moger is still finding his footing in life after suffering from a series of setbacks. In a recent YouTube video, Von Moger discussed his late brother Eddie passing away, his thoughts on bodybuilding, and what’s to come next on his journey of self-discovery.
“I’m a fitness influencer, I also used to do a lot of bodybuilding competitions back in the day. I’ve had a lot of setbacks recently but I’m also very well known for my comebacks and this is a part of my story,” Von Moger shared.
Von Moger became an instant sensation in fitness and bodybuilding following his portrayal of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the thrilling docudrama, Bigger. Having displayed a striking resemblance to the legend, fans expected that it was only a matter of time until Von Moger was dominating the bodybuilding stages.
However, on his way to superstardom, he encountered adversity that would derail his career. Last January, Calum slashed the tires of a man’s car in a fit of road rage. The situation escalated after police found several weapons in Von Moger’s vehicle, such as brass knuckles, a tomahawk, and a hunting knife. Even though he admitted to the offense, these troubles were just the tip of the iceberg.
Von Moger had close-call with death when he leaped out of a second-floor window. While he recovered fully, Von Moger was in a coma for six days. He later attended rehab for a drug problem. With time to reflect, the Australian native decided to change his life for the better.

He started posting regular YouTube videos again, where he showcased his training sessions. In March, tragedy struck. His brother, Eddie Von Moger, had gone missing and was later found dead off the coast of an Australian beach. Von Moger is still in a state of mourning but hopes to embark on a new journey in life. In his latest endeavor, he updated fans on his mental outlook, struggles, and plans for the future.
Calum Von Moger on Future: “I’m Not Really Worried About My Fitness Goals or Ambitions Anymore”
The 32-year-old said he’s still trying to wrap his head around the sudden loss of his brother.
“The biggest adversities that I’ve had to face this year have certainly been losing my little brother Eddie. That was and still is the toughest thing that I’ve had to deal with. It came really suddenly and unexpectedly and it’s something I’m still trying to process. It’s not easy. It’s not something I’ve ever experienced before having lost someone.”
It’s been a difficult year for Von Moger, and he’s unsure what the future holds for him.
“That and also finding my own place back in the world, back online, social media. I’m having to work on getting a lot of self-confidence in myself again, accepting who I am today and what my goals and future are going to look like. This is something that I’m discovering as I go along. I just hope that in time that it’s going to reveal itself to me. I’ve got to have faith.”
“It’s been really hard. I won’t lie. It’s been really hard. I’ve struggled a lot with depression following the events of this year and yeah, I’ve found myself in like a lot of times of weakness and vulnerability, and just a lot of times where I’m by myself and just asking what am I doing, what’s my purpose, what am I here for? Where are things going to lead to next for me?
Yeah, it’s hard because it’s something that I have to figure out on my own I feel. It’s not something that you know… feels like Im in a jungle and I’ve got a machete and I have to hack my way through all these obstacles and there’s no clear path. It’s not like this is the way out, I have to make my way out and find a way through it all. That’s the struggle and the difficult part.”

Looking back on bodybuilding, Calum said the sport influenced the way in which he judged himself and his appearance.
“Bodybuilding is a very how do you say – it’s a very critical sport, a very judgmental sport and I am hyper-judgmental of myself. If I’m not confident in myself and my appearance, it’s hard to share yourself with others and be open and stuff.”
His future plans involve growing a number of business ventures.
“Right now, I’m working on myself as well as getting back online and working with these companies. Boxed Up, Young LA, my own brand, I’m hoping to find yeah stability and I want to find myself in a place where I’m comfortable and I can work.”
Additionally, Von Moger intends to reconnect with his son. In 2020, Von Moger was accused of keeping this child a secret. He later set the record straight and confirmed the child was his.
“I’m thinking that also something I haven’t touched on. I do have a son, a three-year-old son, who I haven’t been able to be in his life very much. That plays in my mind a lot now. He’s in California. I think that I’m thinking it would be good for me to be closer to him and be and it would be nicer to be closer to him and see him regularly and be in his life.”
“I think that would help me find my purpose again, in life as well,” Von Moger added. “I used to always focus everything on me and what am I doing, what are my goals, my ambitions, but that focus has really shifted. I’m not really too worried about my fitness goals or ambitions or my appearance anymore. I’ve accepted that I am how I am.”

Lastly, Von Moger talked about the scars on his arm, which he presumably received after jumping out of the two-story window.
“I have these scars, I have 87-something stitches in this arm. So I’m changed and I’m still accepting this who I am today. I know that I’m not going to be who I once was but it doesn’t matter . I don’t have to be that, I’ve already been it.”
This wasn’t the first update from Calum regarding family matters. In April, the fitness star opened up in an emotional interview about his brother’s death. Von Moger explained that his mind is constantly elsewhere and was thankful for fans at the 2023 Arnold Classix Expo who were considerate of his feelings.
Calum looks to be done with bodybuilding, but his love for training continues to draw him to the gym. Despite an uncertain future, Von Moger appears to be in a more tranquil state considering the events he’s endured lately.

Calum Von Moger: ‘I’m Not Looking to Be a Champion Bodybuilder Anymore; It’s a Different Path for Me’

Calum Von Moger: ‘I’m Not Looking to Be a Champion Bodybuilder Anymore; It’s a Different Path for Me’

It appears Calum Von Moger has closed the door on a possible bodybuilding comeback. In a recent video on the Bucked Up YouTube channel, Von Moger discussed his legal troubles, injuries, and retirement from bodybuilding.

“I’ve gone down this path that I think probably other people could see me going down it, but I couldn’t see myself going down that path and it’s scary… I feel like each setback was an increasingly harder test for me, my mentality, and my person,” Calum Von Moger said.

Calum Von Moger enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame after he assumed the role of a young Arnold Schwarzenegger in the docudrama Bigger. Given his aesthetic features and comparisons to an all-time great, many fans thought it was a foregone conclusion that Von Moger would ascend to the top of the sport.
Injuries and legal troubles would prove to be the 32-year-old’s downfall. He stabbed the tires of a man’s vehicle during a road rage incident. The situation escalated after authorities discovered a handful of weapons in Calum’s car, such as brass knuckles, a tomahawk, and a haunting knife. Despite pleading guilty to the crime, Von Moger’s hardships were about to multiply.

Von Moger survived a near-death experience after jumping out of a two-story window. He made a full recovery after waking up from a six-day coma. He’s also taken to a rehabilitation center for drug use.
Aiming to turn his life around, Von Moger appeared on his YouTube channel and began sharing training sessions. Tragedy struck the Von Moger family last month, however, when Calum’s brother, Edward, was declared missing in Australia. His body was later discovered off a beach coast, prompting Calum to issue a heartfelt dedication video in his sibling’s honor.
Calum Von Moger Talks Legal Troubles, Injuries, Shuts Down Bodybuilding Future
Von Moger shared that many of his struggles stemmed from isolation and loneliness.

“One of the hardest parts of all was trying to navigate through all these different life experiences but I was doing it on my own out here. I didn’t have a lot of people or friends or anyone to really fall back on for a long time, so it was difficult. Sometimes I could have used some good advice and good mentors and stuff.”

While there were lows, Von Moger said winning bodybuilding shows in different countries was the pinnacle of his career. Eventually, he lost interest in bodybuilding and said the lifestyle was ‘too much, too fast.’
“One of the most pinnacle moments of my career was definitely when I was at the very top and I was winning competitions all around the world, South Korea, France, Australia, America, I was traveling month-to-month going to expos, I think there was one year every single month I was in a different country.”
“I got to this stage out here, where I just wasn’t happy. I lived this lifestyle where I was just handed a lot, almost too fast, too much, too soon. Everything was just thrown in my lane and I was in this fast lane for so long and I kind of just lost interest.”
“As I sat, misfortune and fortune intertwined together. I had these years of great fortune and happiness and the times were good and then… I ended up having a few downfalls. It started off with injuries. The cliff injury was – I snapped my quadriceps tendon off the bone and tore my bicep again. That was a challenge. I couldn’t train for several months.”

According to Von Moger, his life started to unravel following the Covid-19 pandemic. He said he was shocked after waking up from the coma last year.
“After the pandemic hit, that’s when things kind of got a little bit hairy for me. There was a road rage incident where I was arrested and locked up. It was in those moments I was really looking at myself thinking, ‘What are you doing to yourself, what are you doing to your life?’ That was the realization I lost my way.”
“I’ll tell you, going from where you know, I’m just getting pulled aside and all sorts of different public scenarios and places and then, waking up last year in a hospital; I came out of a coma. I think I was in it for five or six days. I was shocked. I didn’t know what the heck was going on. I woke up in the hospital and I couldn’t remember hardly how, what I was doing there.”
Von Moger explained that he’s no longer pursuing a bodybuilding career but remains optimistic about his future.

“I got to show everyone I can do this and that it’s not too much for me. I really thought I had a grip on everything; I thought I could handle it, I really did. I thought I was strong enough and I had enough willpower to be the master of my own ship and take control. But I needed help. I really needed it.”
“I have accepted where I am with my physicality, I know that I’m not going to be or looking to be a champion bodybuilder anymore, I’m happy to tie up those boots and retire from competitive bodybuilding. Now, it’s a different path for me. There’s forks in the road and I’m still trying to work out and navigate which direction to go down,” said Von Moger.

While he’s shut the door on a bodybuilding return, Von Moger has been pushing his limits in the gym. He explained that his current goal is to downsize his physique and recently showed off a high-volume leg day training session.

Having accepted the state of his life, Von Moger hopes to move forward with help from others. There won’t be a return to a bodybuilding stage but at least Von Moger will continue to showcase his fitness journey with fans in 2023.

Calum Von Moger Reacts to Brother’s Death: ‘Every Second of the Day, My Mind Is Elsewhere’

Calum Von Moger Reacts to Brother’s Death: ‘Every Second of the Day, My Mind Is Elsewhere’

Calum Von Moger has issued his first statement since the tragic death of his brother Edward Von Moger. In a YouTube video dedicated to Edward, Von Moger attended the 2023 Arnold Classic Expo with a heavy heart and reflected on losing his sibling.
To say it’s been a tough few years for the Von Moger family would be an understatement. Calum, who once portrayed a young Arnold Schwarzenegger in the docudrama Bigger, appeared to be headed for greatness in bodybuilding, but a slew of personal issues prevented his career from blossoming.
The 32-year-old faced legal troubles due to a bizarre road rage incident. He slashed the tires of a man’s car with a knife and police found several weapons in his vehicle like brass knuckles, a tomahawk, and a hunting knife. While Calum pleaded guilty, his hardships were far from over.

Last May, a troubled Von Moger jumped out of a two-story window. His motive for the incident was unclear, but Von Moger was in a coma for six days before waking up. He’s since gone to rehab and taken measures to get his life back on track.
However, last month, Calum’s brother, Edward Von Moger, mysteriously went missing. After an exhaustive search effort, a body was found off the coast of Australia and was presumed to be Edward. Having endured a massive loss, Von Moger took to his YouTube channel for a cathartic experience.
Emotional Calum Von Moger Issues First Statement Since Eddie Von Moger Death
According to Von Moger, he discovered his brother was missing the day he flew out to Columbus, Ohio for the 2023 Arnold Classic Expo.
“I was excited to meet you all at the [2023] Arnold but during that same time, I was going through the toughest moment in my life. On the day I flew out to Ohio, I found out my brother was missing…”
While attending the Expo, Von Moger ran into fitness influencer Jesse James West, who dressed up as The Terminator from Schwarzeneggger’s famous franchise. Calum apologized to fans for being overwhelmed with emotion at the gathering.
“Every second of the day, my mind was elsewhere thinking about Eddie. I know I was physically there but mentally not present. I want to apologize to those who approached me and sadly I had to turn away because I was too emotional. Thank you everyone for the love and support during this time. This video is dedicated to my brother Edward Von Moger,” Von Moger shared.

Considering all that Calum has been through over the past few years, the bodybuilding community was happy to see him turning his life around. Lee Priest, a fellow Australian athlete, extended his support and stressed that anyone could find themselves in the type of trouble Von Moger faced.

Determined to lead a more healthy and productive life, Von Moger redirected his focus to the gym. The last time fans heard from Calum, he shared a high-volume leg day training session. During the workout, Von Moger revealed that his plan was to downsize his physique in the months to come.
Despite his grief, Calum decided to honor his brother’s memory by attending the 2023 Arnold Classic Expo. Fitness Volt extends our best wishes and support to the Von Moger family in 2024.

Calum von Moger Makes Statement On Faking Emotions: ‘They Will Be This Entirely Different Person When You’re Not Around’

Calum von Moger Makes Statement On Faking Emotions: ‘They Will Be This Entirely Different Person When You’re Not Around’

Calum von Moger makes statement amid recent troubles.
Calum von Moger entered a rehab facility in June after being released from the hospital following an incident where he jumped from a two-story window. On Tuesday, von Moger made a statement on social media explaining his feelings on people being fake around him following his recent struggles.
Following checking himself into rehab, von Moger’s team made a statement on Instagram sharing an update on his situation. It was regarding his health and feelings on being used for clicks within the media. von Moger seemed to take another angle when sharing his thoughts on people faking emotions.
“It bothers me that people fakes their true emotions. They will be this entirely different person when you’re not around, but the moment you show up they put on a facade and arouse their inner thespian. To express my feelings in the most simplistic terms I can say “I’m sick of fake people. Period.
Sometimes it seems that the louder someone claims sainthood, the bigger the horns they are hiding.Throughout my life, I have seen people play the role of different characters around their peers. At times, they could be the worst of people.People happily wear these metaphorical masks depending on who they are with. “

Calum von Moger: “I Don’t Like Being Fake”
Calum von Moger pleaded guilty to possession of drugs during a recent court appearance. He was stopped in an unregistered vehicle with testosterone, prescription drugs, cannabis oil, and needles in the car. This appearance came when he was still recovering from his injuries.
During this time, von Moger believes that people should not be using his name in a negative way and should not change how they act.
“Instead of embracing their true personality, they change who they are around select people..  It frustrates me when people would rather keep their mask on, instead of taking it off and revealing their true colors.I don’t like being fake. You may not like what I say but you’ll always know where you stand with me.”

Calum von Moger has been an inspiration to many who have been following his story. He continues to write his next chapter and looks as though he is working to get better.
“If my actions tell you that I like you then I’m not acting. I’m a genuine person. It hasn’t always been that way but people learn and they grow.I don’t understand being nice to someone’s face and then shit talking them behind their back. I don’t understand not being upfront and forthcoming about your feelings of others.”

Calum von Moger’s Team Provides Update On “Long Process” After Checking Himself Into Rehab Facility

Calum von Moger checked himself into rehab a week ago and his team provided an update on the “long road” ahead.
Calum von Moger has checked himself into a rehab facility to fight against his drug addiction. After one week, von Moger’s team shared a video to his official Instagram page explaining his current situation and outlining his upcoming journey.
On May 6, it was reported that Calum Von Moger jumped through a second story window while under the influence of methamphetamine. He received many injuries, including lacerations from the glass and spinal damage from the fall. He was hospitalized, received spinal surgery, and was in a coma for many days.
During the first week of June, von Moger shared pictures of his wounds from the jump. He is now out of the hospital and has decided to take the necessary steps to get himself back on the right track.
Calum von Moger Currently Has No Timeline in Rehab
Calum von Moger’s manager Popeye shared a video on the bodybuilder’s Instagram account. He began by introducing himself and discussing the current condition of von Moger in this facility.
“How is Calum doing, is Calum okay? Some great news for you guys. Calum is on the road to recovery. It’s been a week now since he checked himself into a facility. I’m very excited about that. It will be a long road. It’s a long process,” Popeye said.

As Calum von Moger continues to battle drug addiction, it is unclear how long he will have to remain in the facility.
“Right now, we don’t know if you guys will hear from him personally. In eight weeks, 12 weeks, six months, a year. the best thing for him is to recover. Is to go through this process.”
The process for Calum von Moger has been long as he earned his Pro Card in 2020 but has not competed in a show. He is a three-time Mr. Universe winner but has not stepped on stage as an IFBB Classic Physique competitor. He has dealt with different injuries and legal troubles over the course of his career.
The entire journey of his recovery and return to competitive bodybuilding was chronicled in the documentary feature film Calum Von Moger: Unbroken.

Calum von Moger’s Team Wants To Avoid Clickbait And Remain Positive
As the video went on, Popeye explains that he does not feel it is right to be using Calum von Moger’s name for clicks during this time. He needs to be surrounded with positivity and that is not the way to go about it.
“We will continue to be a positive light and regardless of how dark it’s been lately. I’ll tell you, 60 percent of the stuff that’s out there has no base. It’s idiotic. These idiot YouTubers or Instagramers or influencers that think they’re trying to make their name off Cal. It’s heartbreaking to see people act that way, be that way. Try to get some clickbait.”
The video ends with Popeye thanking von Moger’s fans for the messages and faith. There are many that feel inspired by von Moger and the journey that he is currently on.
“He continues to inspire, and he will continue to inspire regardless of what that ends up being. We thank you guys. Again, we’ll have more news for you guys soon. We apologize that it’s taking this long to get a message out to you guys. I’m happy we were able to now.”

Calum Von Moger Displays Accident Wounds From Hospital Bed In Update

Calum Von Moger Displays Accident Wounds From Hospital Bed In Update

Calum Von Moger showcases some of his wounds received after jumping from a second story window and being hospitalized.
After a somewhat long period of silence, Calum Von Moger shared a video of his wounds received after jumping from a second story window. The video was posted on his official Instagram and appear to be taken from his hospital bed. This post, along with another post made on Instagram earlier today, mark his first direct posts online since April 29th. Moger has been the subject of much media attention after multiple arrests in Australia that eventually led up to his shocking accident.
On May 6th, it was reported that Calum Von Moger jumped through a second story window while under the influence of methamphetamine. He received many injuries, including lacerations from the glass and spinal damage from the fall. He was hospitalized, received spinal surgery, and was in a coma for many days.
The news was a tragic and shocking turn of events after multiple troubling signs leading up to the May 6th incident. Local reports in Australia noted two separate arrests involving road rage incidents – one of which included Moger brandishing a machete. Since the accident, Moger has been reported to be in stable condition and awake. Today marks Moger’s first direct posts on Instagram since the accident.
You can watch the video post below:

The video, posted on Instagram, showcases Calum Von Moger filming his own arms. His arms have multiple laceration wounds stitched up and some bandaged. Moger appears to still be in the hospital bed during the time of the recording.
Three hours earlier, Calum Von Moger also made a post featuring a quote that appears to be from the Bible:

“‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and hope.’”
Calum Von Moger’s Accident & Mental Health In Bodybuilding
Calum Von Moger is a bodybuilder that became the pinnacle example of a new era of bodybuilding. His fame did not come from competitions but from social media. A video showcasing his physique and his training methods went viral – leading to his eventual fame and continued social media popularity. He was known as Arnold 2.0 due to his classic physique that matched the look of Arnold Schwarzenegger during his prime.
Moger took this popularity and ran with it – revealing not only a continued impressive physique but also a lavish and adventurous lifestyle. He was one part loved for his classic looking physique, and one part loved for his influencer style adventures and interaction with fans.
So it became shocking to the bodybuilding community when his social channels went silent. Calum Von Moger essentially disappeared in 2022. He returned to Australia, stopped competing in bodybuilding shows, and nearly stopped posting online altogether.
Following this silence, local reports came out of Australia of Moger getting into violent road rage incidents – being arrested twice as noted earlier in this article. This led to an online onslaught of influencer and blog coverage trying to “diagnose” his mental state.
Calum Von Moger eventually made a post on Instagram promising that he would work on his flaws and try to get better. Sadly, shortly after his accident involving jumping through a second story window occurred. This accident also confirmed earlier rumors of his use of methamphetamine.

In the wider mainstream conversation beyond bodybuilding, there has been much said about the dangers of social media and how it influences mental health. While it is clear that Calum Von Moger has many personal issues that we cannot begin to guess about – his struggles also were clearly seen on social media.
While we are not willing to speculate on what caused Moger’s recent and tragic accident. The entire situation has sparked discussions about mental health in bodybuilding and in relation to social media. Did the added pressure of social media attention during a time of struggle contribute to his declining mental health during this period of time? That’s up for debate – and one the bodybuilding community has been discussing at length recently.
 Calum Von Moger’s Recovery
In either case, it appears that Calum Von Moger is on the mend. We had already received word that he had awoken from his coma – and these posts seem to show that he is ready to start engaging with the bodybuilding community online again. The video, while painful to watch, also shows that his wounds are healing. His spinal injury did no permanently disable him from walking. So for now it seems that Moger will be able to literally walk out of his accident.
Generation Iron wishes a speedy recovery for Calum Von Moger – and will provide more updates as they become available. It’s not clear what the future holds for Moger in direct terms regarding his bodybuilding career. That may become more clear as time passes during his recovery down the road.

Biography
Calum Von Moger was born June 9, 1990. He was raised in a small town called Geelong that is located in Victoria, Australia. He was raised on a small farm with his 5 siblings. The environment helped him become disciplined and learn about the importance of nutrition.
Calum played soccer for eight years and was very athletic. He grew up in an organized household. The entire family followed a daily routine. This adds to the discipline that groomed him at a young age.
He was only 14 years old when he brother asked if he wanted to join him in the gym. The gym was not the fanciest. There were plenty of equipment available at this gym, but everything was old and rusty. Though things were dated, it was all Calum needed to become hooked to working out.
The gym owner was trusting of Calum and his brother, so he often left a key in the letterbox for them so they could train after school. Sometimes a key wasn’t left for them, so they would take it upon themselves to still get inside to workout.
Calum saw his brother as his biggest competition at the time. His brother was always taller and stronger. This inspired Calum to lift and train harder because he saw himself as skinny growing up.
Calum was inspired by watching Arnold Schwarzenegger in the hit documentary ‘Pumping Iron’ and Steve Reeves in ‘Hercules’. This is what led him to use old techniques to form his classic shape.
After years of training and working on his physique, Calum decided to compete in local shows. In 2010, he won his first bodybuilding competition. In 2011, Calum was selected to compete in the WFF Junior Mr. Universe competition. He also competed and won the NABBA Junior International championship then continued on and took first place in the Jr. Mr. Universe.
With the introduction of the Classic Physique division in the NPC and IFBB leagues in 2017, Calum Von Moger decided to start training and prepare for earning his pro card. Calum’s journey into entering the NPC/IFBB league was chronicled in Generation Iron 2.
Unfortunately, his competition prep would be temporarily put on hold. In November of 2017 and later in April 2018, Calum suffered two serious injuries preventing him from training to full capacity. His first injury was a bicep tear only to be followed later by a knee injury incurred during climbing a cliff.
Calum Von Moger’s recovery and return to training at full capacity were chronicled in the documentary feature film Calum Von Moger: Unbroken. The film collects archival footage plus newly captured footage to showcase an inside look at his recovery and journey towards becoming a Classic Physique pro bodybuilder in the IFBB.
Since his recovery, Calum Von Moger has continued to train and perfect his physique in preparation of returning to compete. He had scheduled himself to compete in the Jay Cutler classic in 2020, but the Coronavirus pandemic effectively closed down the pro bodybuilding season. He continues to train and wait for his chance to return to the stage.
Calum Von Moger has also broken into the world of acting. He appeared in the 2018 feature film Bigger. The movie depicted the Golden Era of bodybuilding and followed Joe Weider’s rise in building the Mr. Olympia contest. In the film, he portrayed a young Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Calum also has utilized his physique to get some modeling work. He was chosen by Gucci to model their 2019 Fall Collection.
