Arnold Schwarzenegger Discusses Plant-Based Diet He Has Been On For Five Years
Arnold Schwarzenegger has mainly followed this diet plan for half a decade.
Arnold Schwarzenegger continues to be a huge voice in bodybuilding and fitness. He sculpted one of the best physiques of all-time in the gym using some massive lifts. Out of the gym, his lifestyle was up for the challenge and he has continued some of his diet tricks to this day. Schwarzenegger recently discussed his plant-based diet, which he has been following for the last five years.
Schwarzenegger has been standing by this diet plan at an 80% clip. In his recent newsletter, the legendary bodybuilder discussed the benefits of this diet along with some of the foods that are difficult to turn down.
““I have been about 80% plant-based for the past 5 years of my life. Even though I still eat meat sometimes, because I can’t resist a juicy steak when I have friends over or a crispy wiener schnitzel in Austria, I mostly eat plant-based because it is better for my overall health, and as my friend Jim Cameron taught me, better for the environment because the clearing of forests and the raising of animals for meat causes so much pollution,” Arnold Schwarzenegger said.
Arnold Schwarzenegger made it clear that he is not only following this diet plan because of his health. He is also interested in the impact that it has on the environment. He mentions that pollution is a major factor in the United States. Schwarzenegger claims that eating less meat means that less and less forests will be cleared, ultimately creating more food for animals.
Along with the impact that it has on the environment, Schwarzenegger discussed what the diet has done for his health. His cholesterol is very low because of it and this has helped him feel better all-around.
“My bad cholesterol number is so low that my Doctor thought I might be a different person and feel healthier and younger overall. If any of you have recently gone vegan, what are your favorite recipes? And if any of you are thinking about going vegan, what’s stopping you? Send me an email with the subject VEGAN and let me know!”
This is not a diet that Arnold Schwarzenegger followed during his competition days. There are some critics who believe this would not work for active athletes. Now that Schwarzenegger has been off the stage for years and years now, it is the perfect time to give this diet a shot. It seems to be working for him.
This is the perfect diet for a person looking to take in less meat and drop cholesterol levels. For an athlete who wants to maintain mass, specifically bodybuilders, this might not be the direction to go while competing.

Akim Williams Reportedly Out Of 2022 Arnold Classic
Akim Williams has not yet commented on reports of his withdrawal.

Williams has not yet made an official statement on his status for the competition. The Arnold Classic is scheduled for March 3-6 in Columbus, OH.
Akim Williams has continued to share workout videos on social media but has been short with his captions.
With Williams pulling his name out of the competition, this leave 10 bodybuilders vying for the Arnold Classic title in Men’s Open. It became with Rafael Brandao withdrew from the competition for undisclosed reasons. Then, both Nathan De Asha and Mohamed Shaaban were forced to pull out due to injuries.
2022 Arnold Classic Lineup
William Bonac
Maxx Charles
Brandon Curry
Samson Dauda
Regam Grimes
Steve Kuclo
Cedric McMillan
Fabio Giga Rezende
Justin Rodriguez
Brett Wilkin
It is still a lineup full of big names despite four competitors withdrawing. Curry continues to be one of the favorites to win the event after back-to-back runner-up finishes at the Olympia. McMillan will also make his return to the stage while Kuclo is looking to build off a third-place finish last year. Wilkin is considered a dark-horse to win the show and jumpstart his 2022 campaign.
Akim Williams finished fifth during the 2021 Arnold Classic. During his career, he has won three shows and continues to improve as time goes on. Williams’ first victory came during the 2016 Tampa Pro. In 2020, he was victorious during the 2020 Chicago Pro followed by a win during the 2021 Puerto Rico Pro. He has competed at the Olympia four times, including a sixth place finish in 2020.
After withdrawing from the Arnold Classic, Williams will have to find another way to qualify for the 2022 Olympia. He can do this by winning another show or earning system points. There is still plenty of time as the Arnold Classic typically begins the bodybuilding season.
Fans were looking forward to watching Williams perform in Columbus but they will have to wait a bit longer. It will be interesting to hear the reason for his withdrawal once the bodybuilder makes an official statement.

Jujimufu Crushes A New PR With A 700-Pound Squat
Jon Call, known as Jujimufu, is known for his feats of strength and recently set a new squat PR.
Jon Call, or Jujimufu, has built a massive following on social media for his feats of strength that can compete with many around the world. His strength and flexibility allow him to pull off some impressive lifts and he recently set a new PR. Jujimufu completed a 700-pound squat in a recent training session to set a new mark.
Call loaded up the barbell in his home gym and stepped up with a lifting belt and knee wraps to assist. He shared the lift on his Instagram page for his 1.6 million followers.
“700 lb (318 kg) SQUAT PR! Sam surprised me with a bonus camera angle she filmed without telling me. ?”
The depth that Jujimufu shows on this squat is incredible. This is what has made him be able to add weight to his lifts and perform some inhumane movements. The 700-pound club is a coveted group for powerlifters. Call did not reveal his body weight but all you have to do is take one look at his physique to see that he is in top physical shape.
Jujimufu took the world by storm five years ago when he appeared on America’s Got Talent. Here, he performed a barbell shoulder press while going a split with both feet spread out on two chairs. This was an insane lift that showed his flexibility, core strength, and balance. Since then, Jujimufu has continued to rise as a fitness star.
Call began training in martial arts and strength training at an early age. He has teamed up with many strongmen for workouts and has built a huge social media following. During his career, he has even taken part in three sanctioned powerlifting competitions.
Jujimufu set PRs during the 2020 and 2021 WRPF Hybrid Showdown competitions. During the 2020 Showdown 11, Jujimufu completed a 666.9-pound deadlift and 1,736.1-pound total. The very next year, he took down a 672.4-pound squat and 418.9-pound bench press. He even tried his hand at bodybuilding in 2021 during the NPC Worldwide Amateur Olympia Orlando, where he finished fifth in the super heavyweight division.
There is no doubt that Jujimufu is multi-talented. He is extremely strong in many ways and continues to show it on social media. It is still early in the year and Call could have some other plans for 2022. It will be exciting to see what the powerlifter takes on next.

Russel Orhii Sets New Squat PR And Unofficial World Record With 755-Pound Lift
Russel Orhii could be looking to build on his world record in the 83kg category.
Russel Orhii has completely asserted himself as one of the top powerlifters in the 83kg category. He has not competed recently but has continued to gain strength and shows it off on social media. Recently, Orhii shared a video of a massive 342.5kg (755lb) raw squat.
This is a new PR for Orhii and an unofficial world record in the IPF. Orhii won the 2021 IPF World Championship in the 83kg category and currently holds the squat and total world record. According to his Instagram, this lift was 22kg (48.5lb) heavier than that of his current record.
“755LBS/342.5KG ???
All time squat PR. I’m fucking hungry.
#GetBetterToday“
Russel Orhii is a two-time IPF World Champion and five-time ISAPL Raw National Champion. In 2021, he set some new PRs in competition and will continue to build upon these numbers. This includes a 323kg (712.1lb) squat and 843kg (1,858lb) total during the 2021 USAPL Raw Nationals. During the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships, Orhii completed a 333kg (734.1lb) deadlift. His bench press competition PR came back in 2019 with a 195kg (429.9lb) lift.
Orhii has competed in both the IPF and USAPL in his career. For a world record to count as an IPF record, it must be in a sanctioned competition by the organization. This means his world records are actually lower than his competition PRs.
The 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships was the site of both of Orhii’s world records. This includes a 320.5kg (706.6lb) squat and 841kg (1,854.1lb) total.
Russel Orhii will not only focus on powerlifting in 2022 but has plans to compete on the bodybuilding stage as well. His ability to maintain his elite strength while preparing for bodybuilding is extremely impressive. It is unknown when he will make his debut but it is likely to come some time this year. During his training, Orhii has implemented some posing routines and other aspects that will help on stage.
It is clear that Orhii is the top powerlifter in the 83kg category. Right now, it is difficult for other competitors to come close to his lifts. As he continues to transition to bodybuilding, this is a chance for Russel Orhii to show his versatility and overall skill in multiple areas.

Brian Shaw And Gabriel Peña Team Up For Massive Deadlift Session
Brian Shaw and Gabriel Peña recently shared a huge workout in Colorado.
It has become a tradition and popular style of training when two strongmen get together for a session. In this case, it was Brian Shaw and Gabriel Peña who were able to tea up in Shaw’s home gym in Colorado for a massive deadlift session.
Shaw is a four-time World’s Strongest Man champion who continues to perform near the top of the game. Peña has made a name for himself by pulling some massive deadlifts, using both the barbell and dumbbells. This is where the two got together for a session and Shaw shared the video to his YouTube page.
“Deadlift day is the best day.”
The workout for the two strongmen began with 15 minutes of single-leg Romanian deadlifts and reverse hypers. Shaw’s coach, Joe Kenn, added some chains on a loaded barbell while Shaw and Peña completed mid-shin paused deadlifts. The weight began at 225 pounds and it increased each set by 40 or 50 pounds.
After the paused deadlifts, the lifters moved onto vert pull deadlifts. This focuses on the eccentric part of the lift. The barbell began on blocks and Shawn and Peña pinned their shins against a T-bar. This forced their shins to remain upright and applies more tension to the posterior chain.
“That starting position is what we’re trying to emphasize…If it’s another way to fortify my deadlift…I’ve got an open mind and am ready to learn.”
Brian Shaw and Gabriel Peña focused on the eccentric portion of the movement but also wanted to make sure to work on explosive strength. The workout ended with yoke walks. The duo focused on exercises that will be present during some of the major strongman competitions.
Shaw is not a competitor in the 2022 Arnold Strongman Classic. He will plan to compete during the 2022 World’s Strongest Man competition. This will take place from May 24-29 in Sacramento. Shaw has a chance to tie Mariusz Pidzianowski for five victories, which is the most all-time. Shaw finished second during the 2021 show. He will also host the third annual Shaw Classic in 2022, which will take place from Aug. 13-14 in Loveland, CO.
Peña was forced to miss the 2020 WSM with a heart issue. He was named an alternate during the 2021 show and could be looking for a big return this year.
Brian Shaw and Gabriel Peña showed off their elite strength in this workout and that means they are working to do some impressive things in 2022. It will be interesting to see where the two strongmen go from here.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Pays Tribute To Director Ivan Reitman
Arnold Schwarzenegger worked closely with Ivan Reitman on many projects.
After a bodybuilding career that dubbed him the greatest of all-time, Arnold Schwarzenegger took his talents to the big screen. This is where he worked with director Ivan Reitman on many projects and the duo got to know each other well. After the passing of Reitman, Schwarzenegger took to Instagram to pay tribute to his former colleague and friend.
Reitman passed away at the age of 75 at his home in Montecito, CA on Saturday. The cause of death has not been specified at the time of the announcement. Reitman found great success directing comedies such as “Animal House” and “Stripes.” He worked with the likes of Bill Murray and John Belushi, along with Schwarzenegger, during his career.
Together, Ivan Reitman and Arnold Schwarzenegger put together “Kindergarten Cop” and “Twins,” which also featured Danny DeVito. On Tuesday, Schwarzenegger shared a heartfelt tribute to the director.
“Ivan Reitman is a legend. In Hollywood, he was bigger than life. He was comedy royalty.
In life, he was a mensch – a wonderful father and husband, a fantastic friend, a great human being. He was kind, he was generous, he was smart as hell, and he was always there for you.
I am devastated, and my thoughts are with the Reitman family.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger continued by describing how Ivan Reitman took a chance on him from the beginning. Schwarzenegger became a massive figure in bodybuilding and was able to use his impressive physique and charisma to put together a successful movie career.
“If you knew him, Ivan had a way of making himself a part of your story, and he certainly wrote a chunk of mine. I’ll always be grateful that he took a chance on this Austrian action-hero in a comedy during a time when the studios just wanted me to focus on finding new ways to kill bad guys, blow things up, and show off some muscles. I knew I could make it in comedy, but I needed someone else to know it to make it a reality. That’s why Ivan was a great director and friend: he could see something in you that other people didn’t, and he could help you show the rest of the world.”
Schwarzenegger ended his tribute by describing some experiences that the two had while putting together films.
“Making Twins, Junior, and Kindergarten Cop with Ivan was heaven for me. Spending the last few years working with him on Triplets, and once again seeing his passion and genius up close, was a joy. Just last week, I was talking about how excited I was to be on set again with Ivan this fall.”
Arnold Schwarzenegger remains an active voice in bodybuilding and beyond. It is clear the impact that Ivan Reitman made on his career and this led to a great tribute from the former bodybuilding champion.

Jake Wood Might Require “Doctor’s Clearance” For Bodybuilders To Compete At Olympia
Jake Wood continues to attempt to make the sport of bodybuilder a safer environment.
Olympia President Jake Wood has been an advocate of safety moving forward. The sport of bodybuilding. He has spoken out about possible changes and plans that could be coming in the future. Recently, Wood revealed another plan that includes athletes getting clearance from a doctor before competing at the biggest competition of the year.
Wood joined The Menace Podcast on the Muscle and Fitness YouTube page to discuss the current happenings in bodybuilding. This includes the recent deaths that have happened around the bodybuilding world. This has caused Wood to reconsider some aspects and one could be getting some outside help from doctors.
“I thought about it, you know. What about at the Olympia? What if we said, “Hey before you come, you need to get a doctor’s clearance just like the NFL does at the beginning of the season?” We could do that.”
Of course, this is just discussion at this point and it would require some planning by Jake Wood. During the interview, it was suggested that this could begin as early as amateur level for bodybuilders. Before earning their pro card, competitors could get checked out before receiving their step forward.
“I think that would be a step in the right direction, as long as it’s done correctly. Of course, who established the criteria and what are they testing for and when do you say that it’s no good. I mean, when do you say you failed the test?”
The bodybuilding world lost George Peterson prior to the 2021 Olympia and this was a huge shock. Unfortunately, it was not the only loss and Wood has been speaking out in order to make the sport safer.
In August, Alena Kosinova passed away while preparing for the Europa Pro. This is when Jake Wood made a statement on the future.
“I AM DEEPLY SHAKEN BY THE LOSS OF ALENA. I AM NOT ONE FOR EMPTY WORDS. INSTEAD OF MAKING POSTS I’M MAKING CHANGES. I HAD A PRODUCTIVE MEETING WITH JIM AND TYLER MANION THIS MORNING AND WE’RE ALL SICKENED BY THIS TURN OF EVENTS. WE AGREED THAT CONDITIONING IS OVER EMPHASIZED IN THE JUDGING CRITERIA AND SOMETHING MUST BE DONE. I WILL PUSH FOR CHANGE IN ALL DIVISIONS,” Jake Wood said following the death of Kosinova.
It is unknown how Jake Wood could put together a set of rules to enforce this. It does not seem as simple as a doctor’s clearance. This is a plan that might not be put into motion but the face that Wood mentioned it is telling.
It is clear that the sport needs to become safer. This was a difficult year with many losing their lives and Wood is part of a group that believes it will change.

Woman Makes Over $13,000 Selling Breast Milk To Bodybuilders
Mila De’brito has made a nice chunk of change off her breast milk.
The term “liquid gold” can mean many things and be used to described fluids of all kinds. For Mila De’brito, a mother in he UK, this has taken on an entirely new meaning. In this case, it is breast milk.
De’brito recently shared that she has made $13,522 by selling her breast milk to bodybuilders. This was revealed in a TikTok video where De’brito is seen holding a pouch of her own breast milk, referencing it as liquid gold.
To no surprise, this caused some comments under the video from viewers who want to either try out the method or are critical of it.
“Fair play!,” one comment read. “I know I would if I could produce enough milk but could only do 2 weeks.”
Another added that the method was “genius” while a third mother commented “Omg I can’t get enough in a bottle for a feed never mind sell it, jealous.”
Of course, there were some critics to this method as well. They did not agree with it or argued that the milk was better off being donated and not sold. This is where another commenter came to the aid of Mila De’brito.
“For everyone arguing about money. Donations are only taken up to a certain time after pregnancy. After that, milk quality drops but still sellable.”
The benefits of breast milk have been outlined by many bodybuilders. There are plenty of benefits in regards to nutrients. There is less protein in breast milk than regular cow’s milk but this is not the only factor looked at. Breast milk carries more cards and fat, including overall calories, and this is a reason that bodybuilders believe it will help.
Bodybuilders are a group that want to build as much muscle mass as possible during training and breast milk is a way to do so. This is not the first case of breast milk making some money for mothers willing to sell. De’brito has made plenty of money from her endeavors in this field and it is likely to continue.
When looking at the milk that bodybuilders drink, it can vary from skim to whole depending on the goal of the athlete at the time. What we do know is that breast milk carries many benefits. To see it make a mother this much money is something that has gained much attention from others.
Mila De’brito has been active on social media in sharing her accomplishments. For any further information, keep an eye on her TikTok profile to see if there are more updates shared.
