2023 Toronto Pro Supershow Results (LIVE UPDATES)

2023 Toronto Pro Supershow Results (LIVE UPDATES)

This weekend is a feast for bodybuilding fans as seven events will light up the stage across the globe. But the one that stands out from the rest is the 2023 Toronto Pro Supershow, where 10 divisions will showcase their best physiques on June 4. The categories are as follows: Men’s Open, 212 Bodybuilding, Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Men’s Wheelchair, Women’s Bodybuilding, Figure, Bikini, Women’s Physique, and Wellness. The Fitness division is the only pro division that will not be featured in this show.
Amateur winners who earn their pro cards on Saturday, June 3, will also have the opportunity to compete in this contest.
Last year, men’s open bodybuilder Mohamed Shaaban claimed victory in Toronto and secured his spot at the Olympia. However, he won’t be defending his title this year as he is absent from the Men’s Open lineup. That leaves the door open for some powerful contenders who are eager to claim gold and the coveted Olympia invite.
The winner of this weekend’s show will join the elite group of athletes who have qualified for the 2023 Mr. Olympia competition, which will take place in Orlando, Florida from Nov. 2-5. The clock is ticking for those who want to make it to the biggest show of the year, as they have until October 9 to earn their tickets.
As the highest-ranking Mr. Olympia finisher, Iain Valliere enters this contest as the favorite. However, Ross Flanigan recently scored gold at the 2023 Musclecontest California Pro, and he’s eager to go two-for-two this weekend.
In addition, fans expect Hassan Mostafa to contend for gold as he won back-to-back competitions in 2022 at the Orlando Pro and Puerto Rico Pro. While he didn’t make it to the Olympia stage for health reasons, the Egyptian native is aiming to make an appearance this year. Other notable entries include Joe Seeman, Slavoj Bednar, and Jangmin Lee.

2023 Toronto Pro Supershow Preview & Athletes to Watch

2023 Toronto Pro Supershow Preview & Athletes to Watch

The bodybuilding calendar will see a total of seven events take place this weekend. However, the 2023 Toronto Pro Supershow is the biggest and will feature 10 divisions on June 4: Men’s Open, 212 Bodybuilding, Classic Physique, Men’s Physique, Men’s Wheelchair, Women’s Bodybuilding, Figure, Bikini, Women’s Physique, and Wellness.
Last year, the 2022 Toronto Pro Supershow saw Mohamed Shaaban win gold and an Olympia invitation. While it appears Shaaban is preparing for a competition, his name was excluded from the Men’s Open competitors list. Nevertheless, this weekend’s show is stacked with talent as a few major players are expected to be in the running for gold.

Whoever emerges with the win this weekend will earn an invite to compete at the 2023 Mr. Olympia competition, which is scheduled for Nov. 2-5 in Orlando, Florida. Currently, athletes have until October 9 to guarantee their passage to the biggest show of the year. Find a full athletes list and detailed breakdown of the Men’s Open and 212 Bodybuilding contests below.

Men’s Open
Iain Valliere

The Men’s Open division will headline this weekend’s attraction and plenty of names have caught the attention of fans. In 2020, Valliere claimed the prestigious title of New York Pro champion and got 7th in Olympia. He carried that momentum into the next year, securing back-to-back victories at the Texas Pro and Tampa Pro, as well got 7th again at the Mr. Olympia contest.
As the highest-ranking Olympian (11th), Iain Valliere enters this show as the odds-on favorite. He won the Vancouver Pro last year en route to performing on the Olympia stage.
Hassan Mostafa

The field of talent is deep, and Hassan Mostafa, who went undefeated last season, is determined to once again earn his invite to Mr. Olympia.
In 2019, Mostafa made an impressive entrance onto the bodybuilding scene, securing third place at the Indy Pro. With his remarkable size, he showed great potential, but he knew there were areas for improvement. Over the years, he diligently worked on sculpting his physique, achieving a shredded look. In 2021, Mostafa consistently placed in the top three at competitions like the New York Pro, California Pro, and Puerto Rico Pro.
Although he finished 13th at the 2021 Olympia, Mostafa didn’t stop there. In the year 2022, he impresses everyone by winning the Orlando Pro and Puerto Rico Pro. Unfortunately, Hassan Mostafa was unable to participate in the 2022 Olympia due to health reasons.
He offered a very promising physique update just days before taking to the event this weekend, leaving fans even more excited for the showdown.
Ross Flanigan

Meanwhile, momentum is on the side of Ross Flanigan. He performed exceptionally well at last weekend’s 2023 Musclecontest California Pro, where his conditioning led him to victory against ”Beef’ Stu Sutherland, Serigo Oliva Jr., and 2023 NY Pro winner Tonio Burton.
Joe Seeman

Joe Seeman also took part in the 2023 New York Pro, though found himself in fourth. He’s on the hunt for a Mr. Olympia invite this year and hopes to reach his goal by claiming a pro show victory against a stiff Open lineup.
Jangmin Lee

Contender Jangmin Lee plans to make a statement this weekend. While he made one appearance last year in the IFBB Pro League, he capitalized on the opportunity. Lee finished first at the NPC Regional Chan Classic.
Slavoj Bednar

Another threat this weekend was Slavoj Bednar. He’s remained very active in 2023 and has competed at three contests so far: Arnold Classic Brazil (10th), New York Pro (12th), and the California State Pro (5th).

Heading into this weekend, there was notable hype behind a pair of contenders. Last year, Sung Yeop Jang competed at just one show but showed immense promise with an aesthetic and shredded physique. Ultimately, he finished fifth at the 2022 New York Pro, won by Noel Adame.
Hwang Shin

As for Shin, he’s making his 212 debut and also participated in a single show last year, which saw him earn fifth at the Monsterzym Pro in the Men’s Open, an event which was won by Mohammad Alnsoor.

2023 Musclecontest California Pro Results — Ross Flanigan Wins Bodybuilding Title

2023 Musclecontest California Pro Results — Ross Flanigan Wins Bodybuilding Title

Bodybuilding action took over the West Coast this weekend in Anaheim, CA at the 2023 Musclecontest California Pro. Competitors from the Men’s Open division battled on May 27 as they aim to lock in their invites to this year’s Mr. Olympia.
Unlike in 2022, athletes have fewer months to qualify for the Mr. Olympia competition in November. In addition, the point system has been removed, therefore bodybuilders must win a pro show in order to make an appearance on the sport’s biggest stage.

Last weekend, the 2023 New York Pro, headlined by the Open class, saw two names in the running for gold: Tonio Burton and Stuart Sutherland. Ultimately, Burton’s fullness and deep muscle separation got the job done. Both men are competing again in California, however, they will face a new addition to the roster as Sergio Oliva Jr. entered the show last minute. Sergio has shared consistent updates in the lead-up to the event and revealed he’s weighing approximately 286 pounds. Meanwhile, Seung Chul Lee is also looking for a statement performance.

2023 New York Pro Results and Scorecards (Live Updates)

The 2023 New York Pro is the third most important event on the IFBB Pro League calendar and will take place this weekend, May 20, 2023, in Teaneck, New Jersey. This show served as a qualifier for the 2023 Mr. Olympia contest taking place in November.
A total of nine divisions will be in attendance including Men’s Open, Classic Physique, 212 Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Women’s Bodybuilding, Women’s Physique, Figure, Bikini, and Wellness.

Last year’s 2022 New York Pro champion, Blessing Awodibu, will not compete at this year’s event. Therefore, a new champion in the Open class will be crowned. In addition, Nick Walker took New York Pro gold in 2021 but has opted not to compete in favor of making improvements for November.

Whichever athlete comes out on top in their division this weekend will have the opportunity to face the reigning Olympia winner of their category. As far as the Men’s Open division is concerned, fans expect Tonio Burton and ‘Beef’ Stu Sutherland to put on a show, who have both shared consistent progress photos through the entirety of their preps.

2023 New York Pro Preview, Competitors List & Top Names to Watch

The 2023 New York Pro takes place this weekend and serves as the third most significant event of the IFBB Pro League calendar. With Blessing Awodibu away from the stage, a new champion will be crowned on May 20. This contest will feature a total of nine divisions: Men’s Open, Classic Physique, 212 Bodybuilding, Men’s Physique, Women’s Bodybuilding, Women’s Physique, Figure, Bikini, and Wellness.
In addition to 2022 champion Blessing Awodibu’s absence, the 2021 New York Pro winner, Nick Walker, has opted to use the extra time to prepare for 2023 Mr. Olympia. Whoever claims Steve Weinberger’s New York Pro title over the weekend will gain substantial momentum in their quest to shine on the Mr. Olympia stage in November.
With the event set to kick off Saturday in Teaneck, NJ., fans are eager to see their favorite athletes vie for gold and a coveted 2023 Mr. Olympia invitation. Find a full competitors list and names to watch below:
2023 New York Pro Lineup
Men’s Open Bodybuilding
Heading into New York, fans expect Tonio Burton to make a statement. Having competed in 212 and the Open, Burton continues to make strides and sports a freaky physique. Last year, he won a Men’s Open show at the 2022 Legion Sports Fest Pro and plans to secure another title this weekend.

However, Burton will have to get through a couple of threats, such as veteran Maxx Charles and Nate Spear. At the 2022 New York Pro last year, Charles took third and intends to inch closer to gold in his next appearance.
On the other hand, Stuart Sutherland has shown promising updates during prep for his New York debut, weighing as much as 253 pounds. Spear, who last competed at the Boston Pro (7th) appears to have added size as well. Other notable standouts include Joe Seeman and Slavoj Bednar.

Classic Physique
Having just claimed gold at the 2023 Pittsburgh Pro, Michael Daboul is an obvious favorite heading into this weekend’s event. Considering he’s already in shape and riding momentum, it will take a massive effort to overshadow him on stage. As a former Men’s Physique competitor, fans expect a big turnout from Matthew Greggo in his debut for Classic Physique. Greggo’s last contest came last year in seventh place at the 2022 Tampa Pro.

In addition, Junior Javorski is in the running for gold. He competed against the 2023 Arnold Classic champion Ramon Dino but ultimately left town in sixth. He also has ambitious plans this weekend and is aiming to earn his Olympia invitation.

Meanwhile, Charjo Grant also stands out as an early favorite. He last appeared in December on the Mr. Olympia stage where he impressed in fourth place. And while Vitor Chaves took 13th at the 2022 Olympia, many in the bodybuilding community refuse to dismiss his chances on the East Coast.
Daniel Ammons is a surefire frontrunner as well as he found loads of success on stage in 2022. He enters this show on the heels of back-to-back wins at the Tampa and Texas Pro.

As it stands, the 2023 Mr. Olympia Qualification System has undergone notable changes. Most importantly, IFBB Pro League athletes can no longer qualify for the annual Mr. Olympia competition based on points. The point system has been removed and bodybuilders must win a pro show to guarantee passage to the biggest event of the year.
With the 2023 New York Pro set for November 20, fans are excited to see the bodybuilding season move forward. The 10 winners from this contest will have the opportunity to face the respective champions of their division in less than six months.

2023 Arnold Classic South America Results — Behrooz Tabani Wins

This year’s 2023 Arnold Classic South America kicked off April 14-16 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. This competition served as a Mr. Olympia qualifier for the Men’s Open and Men’s Wheelchair divisions.
The bodybuilding calendar is currently underway as athletes aim to earn their respective invitations to the 2023 Mr. Olympia competition. This year’s Olympia takes place from November 2-5, in Orlando, Florida inside the Orange County Convention Center.
Athletes from the Men’s Open division must win a pro show to guarantee their passage to the prestigious Mr. Olympia event. The point system has been removed and there are fewer months to qualify in 2023 compared to last year.
A few names got the attention of fans, who expect a very exciting show in Brazil. Vitor Hugo Boff is a leading threat this weekend. Boff was the 2022 Musclecontest Brazil Pro champ and made his debut on the Olympia stage last December.
Additionally, Emir Omeragic, who placed sixth at last year’s New York Pro was eager to prove naysayers wrong with a commanding performance. And perhaps the biggest frontrunner of the show, Behrooz Tabani, trained by Milos Sarcev, intends to do some damage. His lone pro show came at the 2021 Romania Muscle Fest Pro where he placed third behind Samson Dauda.

By the time he got to college, he knew he wanted to be involved with this as a career and continued his education with a focus on health and fitness.

Training
When it comes to training, Brandon hits the gym about five times per week and is always looking for the best way to put on muscle. It is important for him to change up his routine once in a while and this will involve weightlifting, HIIT, and full body circuits. While he does enjoy working legs and back, judging by his physique, every muscle gets plenty of work done.

Nutrition
Brandon is always fueling his body and typically eats upwards of 6-8 meals per day. These consist of whole foods and the right balance of macronutrients in order to see real gains and to stay healthy overall. Foods in his diet are things like lean meats, rice, oats, sweet potatoes, fruits, vegetables, and plenty of nuts. He does, of course, have cheat meals now and then.
Supplementation
While Brandon uses his own supplements of choice, there are some staple products in a bodybuilder’s routine to take note of that can serve you well. A protein powder is great for seeing gains and working to pump you with protein to aid in muscle growth, recovery, and even weight loss.
For those pre-workout needs, looking to pre-workout supplements will provide energy and muscle pumps so you can take full advantage of every workout. Of course, a shredded aesthetic is the end goal and looking to fat burners can kickstart your metabolism, suppress your appetite, and allow for more calorie burn to give you the best benefits possible.

Iain Valliere is a Canadian pro bodybuilder and internet fitness celebrity. He started his bodybuilding career in 2010 and has been steadily climbing the ranks in the pro circuit over the last few years.
Valliere is currently one of the strongest bodybuilders in the competitive circuit and is known to deadlift ginormous amounts of weights leading up to contests. He is also one of the most transparent athletes and regularly shares his opinions, training, and nutrition tips with his followers.

Iain Valliere Stats
Name: Iain Valliere
Height: 5’10”
Weight: 260 pounds
Birthdate: November 27, 1990
Birthplace: Canada
In his younger years, Valliere was stronger and faster than most kids his age. He ran track and field in high school and excelled at it. Interestingly, Iain participated in football but dropped out soon as he was not interested in team sports. The Canadian bodybuilder prefers sports where he is in total control and doesn’t have to rely on anyone else.
“I was always someone who was into the individuality of what work I put in, and what results I got out of it. I’m not depending on the success of other people. It was completely what I put in.” — Iain Valliere
Iain Valliere is passionate about helping other bodybuilders and regularly shares training tips and advice on his Instagram page. In fact, he introduced his brother-in-law, Chris Bumstead — now 3X Classic Physique Olympia champion — to competitive bodybuilding. CBum credits his success to Valliere and recognizes him as one of his biggest idols and influences.
Valliere won his Pro card in 2014 at the Amateur Olympia. 2015 Toronto Pro Supershow was his first pro show, where he placed a respectable fifth. He qualified for his first Mr. Olympia contest in 2018 by winning the Big Man Weekend Pro show.
Iain was dealt a disappointment in 2019 when he could not qualify for the Olympia. However, he bounced back strongly by punching his ticket to the 2020 Olympia after conquering the 2020 New York Pro contest. He qualified for the 2021 Olympia by winning the Tampa Pro.
*Note: As per the Olympia Qualification System (OQS), winners of each division in a pro bodybuilding show earn a direct qualification for the Olympia.

A Career Altering Injury
Valliere faced a major setback in 2012 after he broke his arm while arm wrestling the legendary Devon Larratt at a local competition in Ottawa. As per the Canadian bodybuilder, the moment his bones popped, it sounded like a gunshot or explosion.
Iain was later informed at a local hospital that he had incurred a spiral fracture — it happens when one of your bones is broken with a twisting motion.
When long bones are broken at an angle, they often separate into two parts that do not align and have rough, uneven edges. This fracture can make it difficult to put the bone back together. However, six weeks after undergoing surgery to repair his arm, Iain was back training in the gym. His arm size was back to normal after 12 weeks of hard work.

Iain Valliere Training Program
Iain Valliere is a beast in the gym. He throws around big-boy weights like it’s no one’s business. He follows a high-volume training approach and is known to perform up to 10 exercises in a workout to ensure he is training the target muscle from all angles.
Valliere is a proponent of progressive overloading and is constantly finding ways to challenge his muscles.
Iain Valliere’s Training Split

Day 1: Chest / Triceps
Day 2: Back / Biceps
Day 3: Quads
Day 4: Shoulders
Day 5: Arms
Day 6: Hamstrings
Day 7: Rest Day

Iain uses a six-day training split, where he trains his arms and legs twice a week. He uses a high-volume and high-intensity training regimen to get the best bang for his buck.
Valliere follows the same strategy for all his workouts — he performs a couple of all-out working sets to failure for each exercise. He uses relatively heavier weights in the first set and performs 8-10 reps of an exercise. The final set is a back-off set in the 12-15 rep range.
Additionally, he employs different advanced training techniques in each set like forced reps, rest-pause sets, and drop sets to make sure he isn’t leaving gains on the table.
“The top set is usually 8-10 reps, then we do a back-off set and throw in high-intensity techniques like forced reps or drop sets as needed.”

Iain Valliere Workout Plan
Here is what Valliere’s training program looks like:
Day 1: Chest and Triceps

30-degree incline Smith machine press: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Hammer strength incline press: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Incline machine fly: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Flat DB press: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Flat cable fly/press: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
V-bar dips (forward-leaning torso): 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Cable pushdowns (dual handles): 2 sets of 8-15 reps
One-arm cable overhead extension (high pulley): 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Cable pushdown (pronated grip): 2 sets of 8-15 reps

The Smith machine is one of Iain’s favorite training equipment. He utilizes it in most of his push training sessions. Valliere performs two to three forced reps with the help of his training partner after reaching muscle failure on the 30-degree incline Smith machine press.
Iain performs two to three forced reps on the first set of incline machine fly. He follows it up with a double drop set on the second set.
“I love the smith press. It’s always the staple in my chest training. I just find it’s a little easier to keep that stability in the line that you want vs the barbell press.”
Day 2: Back / Biceps

Cable pullover (straight bar): 2 sets of 8-20 reps
Hammer strength low row: 2 sets of 8-20 reps
Machine chest supported row: 2 sets of 8-20 reps
Seated cable row (dual-handle): 2 sets of 8-20 reps
Lat pulldown (medium / neutral grip): 2 sets of 8-20 reps
Assisted pull up machine (wide/overhand grip): 2 sets of 8-20 reps
Standing cable curl (dual handle / supinated grip): 2 sets of 8-20 reps
Standing alternating DB curl (hammer grip): 2 sets of 8-20 reps
One-arm preacher DB curl (supinated grip): 2 sets of 8-20 reps
Standing barbell curl (reverse grip): 2 sets of 8-20 reps

Valliere starts his back workout with cable pullovers to pre-exhaust his lats. At the end of his back workout, Iain performs three to four biceps exercises to annihilate his guns.
On exercises two, three, and five, the Canadian pro bodybuilder performs the first set to failure. On the final set, he uses a weight that makes him hit failure between 10-12 reps. He then performs four mini-sets of four reps with 15 seconds of rest between them.
“[The cable pullover] gives you that full range of motion with a full stretch and a full contraction. I found this exercise made a huge difference in my lats from my front shots.”
Day 3: Quads

One-leg machine leg extension: 2 sets of 10-20 reps
Machine hack squat: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Horizontal leg press: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Pendulum horizontal leg press: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Hip adduction machine: 2 sets of 8-15 reps

Not that he has to, but Iain Valliere trains his quads on their own separate training day. He believes he gets better results training his hams and quads separately as he can give more attention to each muscle group.
Day 4: Shoulders

Smith machine overhead press: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Standing DB lateral raise: 2 sets of 10-20 reps
Cable rear delt fly: 2 sets of 10-20 reps
Machine overhead press: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Machine lateral raise: 2 sets of 10-20 reps
30-degree incline cable fly: 2 sets of 10-20 reps
Hammer strength incline press: 2 sets of 10-20 reps

Valliere hits his deltoids from different angles to ensure the overall development of the three delt heads. He uses advanced training principles like dropsets, forced reps, supersets with every set for maximal muscle fiber activation and recruitment.
Day 5: Arms

Cable rope pushdown: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Bench press (shoulder-width grip): 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Machine overhead triceps extension: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Standing cable curl (dual handles / supinated grip): 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Standing alternating DB curl (hammer grip): 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Preacher cable curl (supinated grip): 2 sets of 8-15 reps

Although this is Iain’s third arm session of the week, day five is when he steps on the gas. He performs a double drop set on the cable rope pushdown to kick off his workout.
“Stopping 2-3 inches off your chest [on the close-grip bench press] will work your triceps harder and take the stress off your shoulders.”
Day 6: Hamstrings

Lying leg curl: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Seated leg curl: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Kneeling leg curl: 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Conventional deadlift: 2 sets of 6-12 reps
One-arm cable pulldown’ 2 sets of 8-15 reps
Cable pulldown (supinated grip): 2 sets of 8-15 reps
45 degree back extensions: 2 sets of 8-15 reps

Since the hamstrings are a posterior muscle group, it is harder to establish a mind-muscle connection while training them than the quads. Iain Valliere recommends training your hamstrings on a separate day if they are lagging.
Day 7: Rest Day
Iain takes one day off the week to allow his muscles time to recuperate from his high-intensity and high-volume workouts.

Arnold Classic 2022 Men’s Open Prejudging Report & Analysis

Arnold Classic 2022 Men’s Open Prejudging Report & Analysis

Highlights from the Arnold Classic 2022 Men’s Open prejudging.
The prejudging for the Men’s Open division has been completed at the Arnold Classic 2022. Despite many competitors pulling out of the competition in recent weeks, this division still highlights the event and will bring plenty of excitement during the finals on Saturday night. Rafael Brandao was the first to withdraw from the competition before Nathan De Asha and Mohamed Shaaban suffered injuries. Akim Williams and Cedric McMillan also pulled their names out over the last three weeks.
With Nick Walker not appearing in Columbus, a new competitor was ready to take over as champion. Brandon Curry and William Bonac were the only previous Arnold Classic winners to compete and entered as two of the favorites. Steve Kuclo finished third last year and has a chance to finish in the top three once again. Regan Grimes and Brett Wilkin are dark-horse contenders to make a run at the title as well.

The first callout featured six competitors but the judges seemed to focus on Curry, Samson Dauda, and Justin Rodriguez. They shuffled athletes in and out to get a good look next to one another. Kuclo was also moved into the center late as he showed up with great conditioning. Bonac and Wilkin were also featured in the first callout.
With nine competitors, the final three were featured in the second callout, along with Dauda and Wilkin. This means that the early top four has been set. We have seen in the past that this can change as the competition goes on, especially with the finals being the next day.

The judges made sure to get a look at Curry and Bonac next to each other in the center. Kuclo and Rodriguez were placed on the outside in the third callout. In the fourth callout, Dauda and Wilkin were brought back out, which could be the battle for fifth place. The final callout featured the top four from the third as the judges continued to mix the positioning.
Despite the recent withdrawals, this division might very well come down to the wire during the finals and it still destined to bring plenty of energy. Make sure to keep a close eye on comparisons and the rest of the results leading into the night portion of the event. Stay tuned to Generation Iron Fitness Network as we continue to provide coverage.

Biography
Early Life
Kai Greene was born in New York City and had a tough upbringing. Inconsistency in family life and constant problems at school were only leading Kai down an unfortunate road. However, in his early teen years, he found weightlifting and realized this was a great way to deal with his stress and other problems bringing him down. As he grew bigger and more defined, someone introduced him to bodybuilding, and he found a new passion and outlet to change his life.

He began competing at many teen shows and continued to build his physique. The more success he felt, the more he sought to be a real force in the bodybuilding world. Done with competing at the lower tier competitions, he set his sights on the NPC, knowing that bigger, more defined athletes would be his competitors.
Pro Bodybuilding Career
Before his 19th birthday, Kai Greene turned pro with a natural organization and held the distinction of being the youngest natural professional bodybuilder in the world. Kai’s pro status allowed him to take his competitive aspiration to a larger stage.
Kai Greene became an enthusiastic bodybuilder, competing in the National Physique Committee (NPC) and aiming to move into the IFBB. He perceives his success in the NPC as mixed. Although he won the 1999 NPC Team Universe, he was disappointed and took a five-year break from competitions, before re-emerging in the 2004 NPC Team Universe contest, which he won again. This victory qualified him for a career as an IFBB professional bodybuilder.
In 2011, Greene began working with preparation coach George Farah and placed 1st in the 2011 New York Pro Championship. His 3rd place win at Mr. Olympia in 2011 qualified him for the 2012 contest, so he did not compete at the 2012 New York Pro in order to focus on Mr. Olympia. As documented in his breakout role in Generation Iron, he placed 2nd in the 2012 Mr. Olympia, the 2013 Mr. Olympia, and the 2014 Mr. Olympia.
Taking A Break From The Olympia
Kai Greene did not compete in the 2015 Mr. Olympia in order to focus on his career outside of bodybuilding. He issued the statement, “There is a lot more going on behind the scenes that I cannot discuss.” Olympia officials denied any claims that he was banned from competing but did confirm that he did not register and had been reminded several times since May. Greene did request an extension on the registration period in May; it was extended until July, but he did not meet this deadline either. He shortly confirmed he signed a management deal with Generation Iron who helped him secure roles on “Stranger Things” Season 2 and many auditions for major TV and film roles.
Kai Greene’s Short Lived Return
On March 5, 2016, Kai Greene won the 2016 Arnold Classic, which he had also won in 2009 and 2010.
On June 23rd, 2017, Greene was given a special offer personally by NPC chairman and CEO of Mr. Olympia to join that current year’s Mr. Olympia competition without going through qualification, as required for all of the other competitors in the 2017 Mr. Olympia.
Over the years, Kai Greene has gained vast notoriety beyond what he could have imagined in his youth. Within the bodybuilding arena, Kai has been held as one of the most inspirational athletes of his time. With a seemingly unique, yet well-developed vocabulary, Kai has made a seemingly unconscious effort to create a revolutionary approach to bodybuilding. He has changed bodybuilding’s fans, competitors, and the overall perception of a once thought of as “pick things up and put them down” bodybuilder.
Other Ventures
While Kai will be always known as a dedicated bodybuilder, he is also into other ventures and hobbies. He is a visual artist, painting on canvas and experimenting with fun costumes, giving him a way to express himself. He has been an actor in a number of documentaries and some shows and is also an entrepreneur, launching a supplements company to bring great products to those who want them.

Training
Before every workout, Kai Greene stretches and does ab workouts for 15-20 minutes. He says that the core is an integral part of every exercise, so it is important to awaken the abs before you start workouts. Plus, by working your abs before you start, there’s no excuse to not do them after a hard workout.
Ab Workout Routine
Typically, Kai performs 3-4 sets for 20-30 reps.

Crunch
Side Crunch

Kai does not believe in training with heavy weights for fewer reps. He says that higher volume with lighter weights makes him feel like there is maximum growth by improving the mind-muscle connection. Here is his 5-day training plan so you too can get a great workout like Kai Greene himself.

Nutrition
Bulking Diet Routine
Kai’s diet is pretty strict. He must have 1.5gms of protein for each pound of his body mass and 0.5gms of fats that are healthy per gram out his bodyweight. He also takes a pre-workout protein shake 30 minutes before every workout.
Meal 1: 2 slices Ezekiel bread, 4 egg whites, 2 scallions, ¼ shredded cheddar cheese
Meal 2: 2 scoops of whey protein powder, 1-ounce almonds, 1 cup Almond/ Coconut Milk, 1 cup blueberries, 1 cup of water
Meal 3: 6 ounces of grilled Flank steak, ½ cucumber, 1 teaspoon olive oil, 1 ripe tomato

Meal 5: 5-ounces of tuna steak with7 ounces of cod, 2 medium-sized yams, 1 tablespoon butter, 2 tablespoon Parmesan Cheese, 4 stalks of Asparagus
Pre-Contest Diet Routine
While the bulking diet is great, during Kai’s pre-contest routine his diet needs to be totally on par. One of the major differences is that he switches to lean proteins.
Meal 1: 16 oz steak, 12 egg whites, quart of white rice with a cutting supplement for fat loss.
Meal 2: A pint of white rice, 2 chicken breasts, turkey burger
Meal 3: 16 oz salmon, large green salad, 6 egg whites
Meal 4: 16 oz steak with 2 sweet potatoes

Supplementation
While Kai uses his own supplements of choice, it is important to know that supplements can help you see serious gains and it just takes knowing which ones are the right ones as you look to achieve that. To start, pre-workouts are great as they will provide energy and muscle pumps so you can push through fatigue and see real muscle growth. To bookmark your workout, taking a protein supplement after will ensure growth and recovery by pumping you with that vital protein. It can also help keep you full for better weight loss efforts.
As we all look to shred and tone, a fat burner is something to consider for what this can do for your physique. The right fat burner is great in working towards suppressing your appetite, boosting your metabolism, and shedding extra calories so you only see the best gains possible.
