Ladies...What are your routines for working out?

I was wondering what the other female members do for a normal routine at the gym...with cardio (how many days/week, how much cardio?) and also lifting routines...what you use, and what you do? Let us know...:)

haha! This is pretty funny for me because my workouts are usually half ass- because Im in the process of trying to get a chubby friend in shape for her wedding..

Ok- well I teach aerobics- so 6 hours a week of gym time is devoted to that-

TW and Sats- I teach a kickboxing class followed by a body flex class- (full body workout lite weights)

M and R --I usually workout with my friend- I almost have to FORCE her to go through a basic circuit in the WOMANS weight area- and then we do 30 mins of cardio.. its not a bad workout-but its hard trying to accomodate someone at such a different fitness level than me.. its like a basic personal trainer program..

Fridays- I try to get in for cardio- maybe a step class or something for variety...

Hi Nicole...you're from Boston? I'm from Mass also, I live like 30 minutes from Boston..It's cool to see another female from Mass on here..:)

Yea...I usually go there a lot, go shopping, or check out the nice areas there, or to go clubbing, I think they have the best clubs in Mass..:)

I too am a fitenss instructor, and teach about 10 classes a week. I teach in the early mornings before work: Mon & Wed it;s BodyPump (barbell training), Tues & Thurs it's BodyAttack (way hardcore combat-style cardio class) and on Fridays - aaaaaaahh - it's BodyFlow (Yoga/Pilates fusion class). I teach in the evenings once in a while and on weekends too.

I find it hard to have a "program" when you're a fitness instructor who also happens to have a full-time job and a whole other life outside of the gym. Maybe other instructors here can attest?

My workouts occur, obviously, when I'm not teaching. Either before or after my class(es). I am a running junkie, so if I haven't already done too much cardio for the day, I'll do a long treadmill run. My weight training depends on what class(es) I have to teach the next day - I won't, for example, do shoulders the day befre I teach BodyAttack because of all the punching I'll have to do (which is a good enough shoulder workout in itself); I won't do legs the day before I have to teach BodyFlow (because I lose ALL flexibility through my legs, and what kind of yoga isntructor would I be then?) and I can't do biceps before I teach BodyPump, because... well... if you've ever done BodyPump you'd understand.

I find it really hard to maintain a program. I mean, I'm certainly physically fit, but I don't get to devote a lot of time to my own thing. I simply don't WANT to spend 3+ hours at the gym every day, teaching and then working out... is that wrong?

I often think about taking some time off from teaching to focus on my own workout for a while, but I really do love teaching. Plus, I feel like I am suffering from Gym burnout - when you are an instructor, you HAVE to go to the gym, even when you're sick, injured, depressed, tired. It sucks sometimes, and it can start to make you view the gym as a CHORE. I really think that if I stopped teaching for a while, I'd actually stop going to the gym altogether for a while. Being an instructor, sad as this is, is the thing that keeps me going to the gym every day.

Anyway, there's my routine: I work whatever muscle I don't really need to use the next day.

Next!

That's kind of like the same routine I have...but I add another hour or so of cardio on Sundays...every once in a while..

In regards to your workout...what are your sets/reps, & intensity levels you work out on??

Hi bj...How are you?? In response to your question about my exercise routine...I really don't have a certain amount of sets/reps that I do daily..I usually just do an hour of both things that I have set to do that day...and I do about 45 minutes of cardio...

I'm good thanks for asking! Just tryin to get some info. for other females I know! Not sure how many sets/reps to recommend for them to do?

Hmm...well if I were to think of how many I do within my time working out on each one..I would probably say a set of 2/ 15 reps..but everyone's is different...:)

Hi Ladies:

I have a question for you...

Here's my routine

Monday: Chest/Bis/Upper abs
Wednesday:Legs/Glutes/Lower abs
Friday: Shoulders/Tris/Obliques
Saturday: Back/Calves

My problem is that I don't want to (or can't) do cardio on Thursday because my legs are sore.

Should I switch Wed and Fri so that Fri I'd be doing legs, and Sat doing back, that way I could do cardio on Thursday? But would I be able to work calves on Saturday after doing legs on Friday?
