HUMALOG (slin) ?

properly pumped

New member
I am taking 10 iu's of humalog post workout, 5 days on 2 days off. Humalog, having a relatively short half-life (peaks in 15 mins), out in 2 hours, here is my question...... i take a shake post workout w/ 65 gms. of whey, 5gms. of creatine, 7 gms of glutamine, 100 gms of carbs. When should my next meal be? i have been eating again within an hour of the shot. (medium carbs, medium protein, very minimal fat.)
thanks.

take ina shit load of simple carbs as soon as you inject and then an hour later take in a whole meal such as white rice and chicken try to limit your fats....

Actually, I do it the way that you do it. I bring 10-12 iu to the gym with me (log). A shake with 125 grams dextrose, 50 grams whey, and 10 grams of glutamine and creatine. Shoot it and drink the shake about 10 minutes before leaving gym. Get home, shower, and then eat a full meal, usually another 60-70 grams protein, 100 grams carbs within 1-1.5 hours. You have that window their, utilize it. I like to get some protein in immed with the dextrose shake because the insulin is driving evrything into the muscle

I posted this in another thread but I'm going to re-post part of it here,

HEY be careful with that Slin boys don't drop your blood sugar to a dangerous level, you might end up comatose or worse. If your thinking about doing some slin then you better know what the signs of low blood sugar are and have some Glucose, Fructose (Orange Juice), Dextrose or some other simple sugar handy just in case.

Disorientation, dizziness, dry mouth, and halo's around lights, sluggishness, ect. eat some sugar.

You want to always have a simple sugar handy at all times when doing slin, a can of OJ will give you fructose, if your blood sugar drops suddenly chug it down, or they sell Glucose fast dissolving tablets OTC I think for those kinds of emergency's for diabetics. :dizzy:

thought fructose didnt spike insulin, so then it seems like it would raise your blood suger??? Can someone plz clarify. thx

fructose will spike your insulin, but not as quickly as some of the other simple sugars such as dextrose...I hope that answers your question

The simpler the sugar the faster it raises your blood sugar level:

Glucose (the simplest) + Fructose = Sucrose (table sugar)

There are complex sugars like cellulose, starch that would take all day to raise your blood sugar level.

Usually the sweeter it tastes the less complex the sugar is and the faster it gets your blood sugar up.

hope this helps, I could go on and on about simple and complex sugar's but ...naaaaa lets move on. :)

i called the pharm.they want 30$ for humalin R. do u guys recomm. humolog or the humlin r for a first timer slin user.i think i'll get some today.i want it in and out as soon as posible.i thought the r was out of your system faster.am i right?

the r is longer/slower acting.....peaks at about 2 hrs if I am correct where as log peaks at right about an hour

Their are a bunch of diffent types some fast acting and some slow acting get:

Humalin R Short-Acting

Onset: 1/2 - 1 Hour
Peak 2 - 3 hours
Effective length of action 3-6 hours
Max length of action 4 - 6 hours

Color = Clear
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Humalin N some times known as NPH Intermediate-Acting (dont get this one)

Onset 2 - 4 hours
Peak 4-12 hours
Effective length of action 10-18 hours
Max length of action 14-20 hours

Color = Cloudy
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then theirs the Long Acting type that I woln't go into because you dont need it (dont get this one either)

And Always keep some OJ handy in case you start to get sick, slam it down and raise your blood sugar before you pass out, or worse.

I wouldn't fuck with anything except humalog, but that's just me. this shit is fucking dangerous. it's not like shooting dirty AAS and getting an abcess, or getting "fina cough" (both of which i have had). this shit can fucking KILL you. no joke. i would highly recommend that anyone thinking of trying slin for the first time to go and read the post "insulin: topic of the week". it's on this site in "the edge" section. it's a lengthy read, but well worth the time.
good luck.

f.y.i.- you're always better safe than sorry as far as amount of carbs consumed post-workout. i had been consuming 100gms per 10 iu, and never got the slightest bit hypo, so yesterday i dropped it to 75 grams w/ 10 iu's and shortly thereafter i began to yawn rather excessively. i had some o.j. and that went away. i think i'll stick w/ around 85 grams from now on.

Like properly pumped, I HAVE to have at least 10 grams carbs per iu....most times I need even more to avoid the dizziness and profuse sweating that accompany my going hypo....

Humalog sure ain't something to be taken lightly
