last meal b4 bed during a cutter

Ok, so I have heard two different stories about this subject. One is that you should drink a protein shake right b4 you go to bed. So that your body does not break down muscle specialy if you are going to do cardio the next morning on an empty stomach. Second, you should not eat anything 2 hours b4 you go to bed and cut your carbs at no later than 6-8pm. Because your body will burn more fat this way. So which is true in your opinion.

When cutting I'd cut out the carbs after the third meal, the reason for this is that once glycogen stores start filling up your body doesn't burn fat as readily. Also yes you should have a shake before bed, i'd say an hour before bed with some hemp seed oil and 10g's of glutamine, the shake should contain Micellar Casein. And it is ok to have a shake before morning cardio, just make sure it's zero carb and zero fat.

Beat me to it Chaps. Thats EXACTLY what I do, however, I cut my carbs at 11am. I hit the gym early early AM eat a few times and then work from 12noon till 9:30pm. I work in a fast paced work environment where Im always on my feet and sometimes might even break a sweat. About 6pm you will feel your stomach burning, begging for carbs, thats just your body tapping into those sotred fat deposits for energy! Elmo, hit a shake about 30 mins before that AM cardio so you dont burn up too many of your BCAA's and start to loose muscle. And be sure to get in at least 20 grams of carbs and 40 grams of protein after any cardio session. I like to dump half a cup of fat free yogurt into my protein shakes, it gives them more flavor and makes them more filling. Keep us posted bro.

I'm not doing ANY cardio for my diet anymore, I just started landscaping with 10-12 hour days 5-6 days a week, their is my cardio :) . The biggest problem i'm finding is WATER! I drink like 12 litres, lol. The problem i'm finding is that my muscles get TOO pumped from the M1T i'm on, lol then sometimes cramp from the clen, lol. So i need to pick up some Taurine.

ok, so keep my cargs to about 70-100grms per day cut them off after my third meal and have a protein shake with glutamine and no carbs b4 i go to bed. now the confusing part is that if i take a protein shake b4 my am cardio instead you wont your body use that instead of going after your fat since your glucose levels are the lowest after you wake up. will the shake not spike up your blood level and the protein provide fuel so that it will use the shake as fuel instead of your fat? all this talk about running on an empty stomach now i dont know what to do bros.... the current protein i get is unavailable so i had to get there next best seller which has about 1.5grms or carbs perserving which is 1/3 cup. usually take 3 servings per shake which gives me about 4.5grms of carbs and 69grms of protein. so what should i then

Go on an empty stomach then, but you could drink some water with BCAA's or Glutamine in it to keep catabolism to a minimum.

great advice from chaps(there's a lot of big fuckers in toronto. ;) ) the most important thing to remember is no matter what you're still a slave to the first law of thermodynamics. energy in = energy out. every little "energy in" eating trick like those described above are intended to make the "energy out" go to the right places. they won't really change how fast you lose weight, just help ensure it's from fat rather than muscle. you still gotta balance that equation independently through cardio, supplements, and calories.

though if you're landscaping you probably aren't in toronto... not much of that there. :D

Personally i have a carb cutoff b/c i know my body is more likely to turn carbs to fat in the evening when it has slowed down. No matter whether i'm bulkin or cutting i always have a meals before bed to keep me from goin catabolic, think about it. Your sleeping for 8 hours and your body has to feed itself somehow. What i do is have 1 cup of cottage cheese, 8 oz of chicken breast, and 1 tbsp of EFA's before bed that way my body will have something to break down while i rest.

You need some glutamine in their 10g's would be perfect, you have to keep in mind that when your body remains unfed it will crave glutamine, and it will get this by breaking down muscle tissue! 50g's of glutamine a day minimum, if you would like me to expand on this just ask.

nah, i'm actually american, but i've lived in toronto and (ugh) winnipeg. good luck with that paul martin issue, and stick around MC. you've got great knowledge, especially for a guy from hamilton. ;) :D

Sorry, I just re-read your post Marble, are you in fact Canadian or have you just been to Toronto before? And ya their sure is some big guys, the Toronto Pro Show brought everyone together, just about everyone in the building was sporting 18inch arms or bigger, lol. It's that Canadian beef for ya, gotta love it, lol.

Not a fan of Hamilton, a.k.a Steel City? LOL I actually live in Stoney Creek but it is now considered Hamilton. When i hear someone mention Hamilton i think of bums and filth, lol. And i hope to god no one on here lives in downtown hamilton, lol.

When I am dieting for a contest I have 250 grams of grilled steak and some brocolli every night before bed, you need a slow release protein when you are going to be asleep for 8 hours, a protein shake will be absorbed quickly and will do little to prevent hunger and even worse little to prevent catabolism. Most competitors I have spoken to lately have said they do this also.

Yeah steak is great but if your a broke college student like myself and others you can find other protein sources as well as supps to take that will work just as good and better imho b/c there will be no saturated fats in it.

Irishmuscle that's a nice meal to eat, the protein digests slower, the fat in their will slow it down even more and the fiber from the greens will extend it's digestion further. But i do think that a Micellar Casein shake before bed is King, i mean 7 hours of amino's dripping away into your body, you just gotta love it. The best combo would be a 50/50 mix of CFM whey and Micellar casein, actually i think biotest has something like that, i think it's called Grow PM.

Have to agree with you Chaps the shake is nutritionally better but without my steak the hunger drives me insane, I am a very hungry big boy!

what about taking a 1tbsp of hemp oil and some tuna before bed. Only thing is that tuna has 360 mgs of sodium per every 20grms of protein in it. Also I am more than willing to wake up at 4am to eat something if it will help. What do you guys think. My wait is down to 33.5 inches so far and I am down to 182-185lbs with a frame of 5' 11''
