I never understood why coaches don't train fighters in their own weight class on this show? Other than that I watch it religiously
yeah way too early at this point, I think that mexican guy is gonna be good
which guy, you just described my whole neighborhood - lol
( mi esposa es mexicana)
I wondered the same (about the coaches weight class vs the fighters) but I figured it was all a money thing. People wanna see Brock vs. JDS, so that coaching match-up made sense. They just had HWs on TUF a few seasons back, so they had to mix it up anyway. The theory about not wanting to coach fighters that they could eventually meet in the Octagon (especially for title contention - ala GSP vs. Matt Serra!) makes sense too though!
What do you think of Brock's coaching style vs Dos Santos? It seems like Brock is all about the win and not about helping the athletes, but then again everyone's goal there is to win so who can blame him. Also, he only seemed interested in the wrestlers. I get it since that's his strength, but as a fighter and coach, you should be trying to help your team be more well-rounded, no?
I don't know though... looking forward to seeing how the season plays out!

Maybe if brock were more well rounded himself then he would be a better coach.
IMO the first fight of the season was pathetic. A wrestler with no submission moves and a striker with almost zero take down defense. These guys were the cream of the crop?
winner said he didnt want to display all his skills with the 1st match so we will see

The one guy was Lesnars last pic and the winner said he didnt want to display all his skills with the 1st match so we will see
I can't say I disagree with you... but Lesnar will bring in the ratings, so we'll see how the rest of the season goes.
Right... JDS's first pick against Lesnar's last pick. Smart strategy by JDS' team... it obviously paid off. But I'm with you guys... nice wrestling, but WTF... once he was in position, he did absolutely nothing to end the fight. The kid needed to strike or go for a submission or something. You don't earn respect by laying on a dude each round and not trying to finish the fight! And WHY wouldn't you want to display your skills from the very start? You WANT to catch the federation, the coaches and the other fighters' attention by going in and doing some serious work. That's a bs statement to not give it your all each and every time!
