I'd rather have a 338 Lapua Magnum over both. I posted the 20mm link as a joke. But 20MM is no fucking joke.

I've heard people say that the 338 Lap is a headache due to maintance compared to the 50 BMG

Both great rifles, and both hold some impressive long shots, but I have a love for the old .50 Cal, its just a workhorse, and will eat up just about any brand of ammo you want to feed it without much fuss and still make clean shots.

youtube how to make one, it takes some time but really it's not that hard

gorilla glue, FR overalls and some spray paint and old rags to cut up

thing to remember is that unless you are in actual warfare they are kinda over rated

not practical for urban warfare

I should look into making one. If there's one thing I have an abundance of its time.

I don't know how true this is, but I've heard the 338 Lapua is a better sniper rifle, but the 50 BMG is a badass anti vehicle gun and that's what I want it for. There is like a 1/2 mile long driveway to our house site.

I second that, from my info the 338 is more accurate but the 50 is just a monster that will stop anything-originally that what is was designed for was to be a tank stopper

1/2 mile... 300 Win Mag would world. You need to think about a round that will be fairly common to buy, easy to reload, take any and all game in your area and you can carry if you had to.

Here in Florida the largest round I will need is a 308 Winchester.

yeah the 308 is a great round-at 850 yards it has the stopping power of a 357 Magnum at point blank range

I have 3 rifles chambered in 308 Winchester. I have a Springfield M1A, a Savage 10 FCP and a POF 308 AR. If the shit hit the fan I think my go to rifle would be my M1A. Last time to the range I hit a 12 inch steel plate 8 out of 10 times at 565 yards with iron sites. That rifle is remarkable.

It's an awesome round, but your environment has a lot to say about what use the round is for. My place in TN is about 3 miles from my closest neighbor and I have a HUGE driveway and private road. It's only me and Silk. Someone or some group that comes barreling down my road is SOL with Silk with an AK and me with a 50 BMG. 1 round will disable each vehicle and likely kill the driver in the process. Its a blunt force killing round. 200 rounds will go A LONG WAY! I have a few thousand 556 and plenty of pistol ammo. Our Achilles heal is our lack of people. The 50 BMG is a great value in that respect.

yeah but how many people can drop 10 grand plus on just a gun? then another $5 per round...if you can then go for it

I definitely won't be looking for a single shot. I was looking at the Bushmaster. It's like $7,000.

Its a lot, but I consider it pretty important. Silk and I are different Bro. CH3NO2 knows what I'm talking about. Besides, how often do you see firearms lose value? I truly feel safer "investing" $7,000 plus maybe another $2000 in glass for a rifle than putting it into a 401k or market run by corrupt Government and a Socialist leader.

Go see them and talk to them. Its not that far of a drive from you. I would give a testicle to have the Anzio 20mm.

The 20mm requires a tax stamp and register with the BATFE since its larger than 50cal.

Shit you guys know your guns. I just on one gun a 243. But I would like to buy a good hand gun to keep by the bed and for my wife to learn how to shoot one.
