PCT, post cycle therapy, is something that far too few people in the bodybuilding community seriously follow through on. That’s a shame, as it’s easy to find Nolvadex for sale and implement it at the end of your cycle, or even to use Nolvadex on cycle if necessary.

So what causes this apathy? Well, part of the problem is that since SARMs have mostly replaced anabolic steroids, I think it’s mostly down to complacency. I also think it’s partly ignorance because people don’t know which SARMs require a PCT supplement, and which don’t.

So let’s put anabolic steroids to the side, as you’d be crazy to take them. But for SARMs, some do require post cycle therapy. Something like Nolvadex or Clomid can totally eradicate gyno problems, making things far easier on your body. So let’s take a look at Nolvadex in detail so that you can build it into the end of your next SARMs cycle.

What Is Nolvadex?

Nolvadex is just a brand-name for the drug Tamoxifen Citrate. It’s also known by a ton of other brand names, like Soltamox, Fentamox, and Oestrifen. It’s a drug that has been designed to control the human body’s production of the female hormone estrogen Its main use is after surgery and during chemotherapy for cancer in females.

It functions as a SERM, a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator. It regulates the production of estrogen, which can lower the risk of cancer cell development.

However, because it’s so efficient at limiting estrogen production it’s become useful to bodybuilders who are struggling at the end of a SARMs cycle because some SARMs can cause a dramatic drop in testosterone levels.

By blocking estrogen production, it encourages the elevation of testosterone production. This can remove the danger of gyno (gynecomastia) symptoms, meaning bodybuilders’ breasts, plus additional problems with hair and the genitals.

Does Nolvadex PCT work?

So before we go any further, let’s just answer the question around does Nolvadex works as a PCT?

Well, I don’t want to go into this in great detail, but the answer is yes. To reinforce my certainty on this, apart from the evidence of my own SARMs cycles and PCT therapy, people I know in the real world and online, plus studies, back this conclusion up.

Let’s just take one study an example, whose abstract concluded that:

“…prolonged treatment (6 weeks) with tamoxifen significantly increased the LH response to LHRL. Treatment of patients with “idiopathic” oligospermia for 6 to 9 months resulted in a significant increase in gonadotropin, testosterone, and estradiol levels.”

So let’s be clear, Nolvadex PCT will work. However, it’s not without side effects, which we will talk about in a little while.

Nolvadex Vs Clomid

Clomid (Clomiphone Citrate) is another SERM, just like Nolvadex (Tamoxifen Citrate). Clomid was created as a fertility treatment for females. It boosts the production of FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) which helps to better regulate the female monthly menstrual cycle.

Clomid works by stopping estrogen interaction with the pituitary gland. This leads to an increase in FSH, which leads to higher levels of testosterone production.

So in a straight-up comparison of Nolvadex Vs Clomid, which is best as a post cycle therapy supplement?

Well, to be honest, I don’t think there’s much to choose between them. There are known side effects with both that are very similar, so it might just be a case of having to try both Nolvadex and Clomid PCT supplements to see which is the most positive experience for you. For more info, please check out my detailed Clomid review.

For me, though Nolvadex worked best. It didn’t have any side effects, and from my reading online it just felt like there was less potential for complications using it.

What SARMs Need Nolvadex As A PCT?

Some people believe that you don’t need a PCT supplement when using SARMs. Other people think you need a PCT supplement with every SARM. You’ll also be told that you don’t need a full PCT supplement, and you’ll be told instead that a mini PCT supplement is always going to be enough to deal with testosterone suppression.

But that’s not the case, and for most SARMs, you will require a full PCT supplement like Nolvadex.

However, you could get away with a mini PCT supplement if you are doing a short cycle, but if you are doing a standard or long SARMs cycle, eight weeks or more, then you will need Nolvadex or something similar at the end of the cycle.

You won’t need a PCT supplement for SARMs which aren’t actually true SARMs. Cardarine is an example of this.

However, if you are using YK-11, RAD-140, or LGD-4033, then you definitely will need a PCT supplement like Nolvadex or Clomid.

Nolvadex Dosage For PCT

The Nolvadex half-life (the amount of time it takes for half of a substance to be processed and leave the body) is as long as seven days, but sometimes shorter at around five days.

So Nolvadex is a very long-lasting PCT supplement, and therefore a single daily dose is enough. So if you are using Nolvadex PCT, then you don’t need tons of the stuff every day. Just take it once in the morning.

When it’s prescribed to women as in estrogen suppressor, the standard medical dose is 20 mg per day. So that tends to be the dosage range when using Nolvadex as a PCT as well.

I would recommend you take 20 mg per day for four weeks post cycle.

However, if you stacked SARMs, or have cycled through SARMs that definitely require a PCT supplement, especially if you are feeling suppressive side effects, then I would make the initial week one dose 30 mg rather than 20 mg.

Can You use Nolvadex On Cycle?

Although it’s not recommended, and mostly not necessary, if you are feeling suppressive side effects during a SARMs cycle, you can use Nolvadex on cycle.

However, I would keep Nolvadex on cycle doses low, 10 mg per day. I would then do post cycle therapy using the Nolvadex dosing information I’ve just given. Just be aware that if you are using Nolvadex on cycle, it means your body is struggling to cope and you should make sure you complete a proper PCT cycle.

The formula I would suggest to make sure you get proper recovery time is SARMs cycle plus PCT equals break until the next cycle.

So if you cycled SARMs for 10 weeks, and then did four weeks PCT, you should have a 14-week break before your next SARMs cycle, and you should definitely take that break if you are having to use Nolvadex on cycle to suppress gyno symptoms.

Nolvadex Side Effects

It’s only fair to warn you that there are Nolvadex side effects to be aware of. This is because it changes estrogen levels in the body and the regulation of hormones.

Common low-level side effects include:

  • Nausea
  • Constipation
  • Muscle aches
  • Heartburn
  • Mood swings
  • Indigestion
  • Prickly skin
  • Thinning of the hair
  • Headaches
  • Changes in sex drive
  • Bone and joint pain

It’s also important to note that the side effects don’t affect everyone, and very few people have all of them. So on balance, Nolvadex PCT is a pretty low-risk way of using Nolvadex for gyno suppression.
