Ostarine (MK-2866) is the original SARM. It’s very mildly androgenic and does activate androgen receptors in muscle and bone tissue.


Designed for people with muscle-building diseases, it helps to retain muscle mass in a calorie deficit situation.


It does this by telling the body to burn fat before it burns muscle. Naturally, in a starvation situation, the body actually begins to burn muscle first, because fat can be stored more easily for a long term deficit use alongside maintaining body heat (think hunter-gatherers in winter).


Ostarine changes that natural balance, allowing you to protect your gains while still burning fat. On top of that, it’s only very mildly androgenic, so it doesn’t deplete your natural testosterone supplies.


An average daily Ostarine dosage for men is around 30 mg but can be as low as 10 mg when part of a stack.



  1. Stenabolic
Stenabolic (SR-9009) is another supplement that promotes fat loss, but it isn’t actually one of the true family of SARMs.


SR-9009 is a Rev-erbA agonist, which interacts with the circadian rhythm that regulates our body and several key processes.

Ligandrol (LGD-4033) is very similar to Ostarine and is made by the same company (Ligand Pharmaceuticals). It’s basically a more potent version of Ostarine.


So is more androgenic than Ostarine, but has similar effects. It produces not only muscle retention but also at high doses can induce muscle gains while at the same time telling the body to cut more fat.


It’s therefore great for cutting, maintenance, and bulking stacks.


Ligandrol is usually taken at doses of around 20 mg per day, but in stacks, it can be as low as 5 mg per day.



  1. Andarine
Andarine (S-4) is another androgenic SARM that interacts with the androgen receptors in bone and muscle tissue.


Again, it can retain muscle mass, and help to cut significant amounts of fat. But at higher doses, just like Ligandrol, it can in fact help to increase muscle mass, which makes it perfect for both cutting and maintenance stacks particularly.


Not only does it bind the androgen receptors and tell them to build muscle, but it also increases fat oxidation and helps to prevent the body from entering a catabolic state on a low-calorie diet.


Andarine can be used in doses up to 50 mg per day, often taken as a half dose twice per day. However, a few people report colored tint effects in their vision at this level of the daily dose, so most people are more moderate with the dose, with a stack dose usually being around 20 mg daily.


Andarine Vs Ostarine

So as you now know, both Andarine and Ostarine are both very good at cutting SARMs.

This goes within a few weeks of stopping using it, but it does mean that some people could have a detrimental side effect with using it.

For most people, you won’t get much testosterone drop at the end of the cycle. If you do, cut the cycle short by a couple of weeks, or drop the dose of Andarine in half if needed.


Can You Use SARMs For Cutting Post Cycle?

A lot of people talk about using SARMs post cycle to cut fat. Let me explain what they mean by that.


There are two scenarios they could be talking about.


The first is that they are using anabolic steroids. They then switch to SARMs which are non-anabolic in order to keep cutting fat while protecting muscle during the recovery from the cycle of steroids. To me, that’s not recommended because your body needs a proper break after steroids.


The second way of using SARMs post cycle is to use Ostarine. Because it’s so mild, alongside a decent PCT supplement, you won’t damage your testosterone levels recovering by very much. On top of that, you will protect your gains, and continue to cut fat. A minor dose of around 10 mg per day is plenty enough to use between cycles.
