Well i seen the doctor yesterday and he gave me a couple weeks worth of cymbalta 30mg daily first week and 60mg daily week 2 and on i guess. I know I said i would never ever use any anti-depressants, hell I just stated that in a thread here days ago, lol. But I desperatly need a (R) knee replacement and have chronic pain from it, so the doctor told me Cymbalta will help with chronic pain some and elevate my moods as well if i have been down and out about my bumm knee, which I have i guess.

So before I go fill this script can anyone tell me anything about this stuff?

My wife used it for a few days, and it made her feel overall more depressed.

Don't do it, anti depressants change your brain chemistry and are a bitch to detox from. I was in chronic pain for 9 years with my back. They gave me the Cymbalta, what a joke that drug is. What finally helped me was ,surgery for 3rd time.

well i took it for 3 days and I felt like ABSOLUTE SHIT! headaches, heart racing, so i stopped after 3 days, and on day 4 i still felt the shit in my system making me feel shitty, i simply couldnt handle it

That is exactly what happened to my wife. If you are needing an anti-anxiety drug, Paxil may be the one you need. My wife is doing great on that one. Perhaps you should talk to your doc about it.

nah, i know people who took paxil and were zombies all day, im sure its different for everyone but im not chancing it anymore with anything at all

You need to give Celexa a try! The low dose. All it does is stop the lows other than that it doesn't affect anything including aggression or anything else. For the first time I feel normal. Cytalopram is the generic and its $4 a month. 20mg a day before bed.

gotcha! well my Addirall helps me a ton with anxiety bro,,,i dont take my xanax either they do the same thing,,,but i like to take them when i cant sleep sometimes. Goodluck!

I pretty much oppse anti depressents as well however they are suppose to change ur brain chemistry, thats why people get depressed, lack of serotonin, or norepinephrin ect ect ,

Xannax is more for anxiety and only as a short term fix to spontenious anxiety. For longer onsets of anxiety most psychiatrist or GP's prescribe daily medications. Xannax...if prescribed for the right reasons does wonders. It tends to adjust to ones body as the need arises. I take .5mg 2xed as needed. When I am taking it on a regular basis it does nto effect me with drowsiness....now on the other hand if i dont take it for a while and then start up again it tends to make me sleepy. for my anxieties, its wonderful. Just my .02 ;)
It also helps my restless sleep and bp when I'm on Tren :D

Celexa destroyed my sex drive. What ever you do don't get on effexor. A word on paxil as well... It is the only anti depressant that has withdrawals as severe as effexor. The effects you got from the first few days are normal by the way. Thats why they have those commercials that say beware of suicidal thoughts. It takes a couple weeks for any of the anti depressants that work on epinephrine and norepinephrine regulation. The half life of effexor is five hours and it took a month before I could tell anything. Xanax is for acute anxiety by the way. Some people take three a day to combat that but it is highly addictive. I am trying to get off effexor now and have been on the low does 37mgs for a month and a half now. I will eventually go to half of those a day for two months and then pray I dont get horrible withdrawals. I know you have anxiety as well press and to be honest the only thing that helps me is doing tons of cardio. I know you knee keeps you from that so I hope you find a solution.

Wow, this is all really intimidating stuff... I was on a particular birth control pill, which I later stopped immediately upon learning that it was the cause of all sorts of wacky shxt I was experiencing. I've never been on anti-d's and even if I needed them, I think I'd rather be depressed than deal with all the above. I know some people actually do need them and thrive well (or at least, sufficiently) on them, but I personally wouldn't want to mess with anything like that unless it was absolutely necessary.

Is that really the only alternative to surgery? If so, that truly sucks...

I'm on lexapro 10 mg have been for 2 years and I don't have any bad sides from them. Had an anxiety attack last week but that's the first bad one I've had in over a year.

Don't do it unless you absolutely have too...

I was on anti-depressant's for about 8 years... Started with paxil and welbutrin... welbutrin made me pretty jumpy... Later I went to cymbalta...

Every time they changed my dosages and or brand I went on a wild ride... My weight would ping pong back and forth +/- 20 lbs. easy... I also either experience big time lows or highs while my body got used to the meds...

When the put me on cymbalta my blood pressure immediately started to rise... Eventually getting to 160/120 (my blood pressure has always been normal)... A quick google search showed high BP to be one of the top sides of cymbalta...

About 18 months ago I decided to go off all of the meds (don't do this without a doctor's supervision)... It was a 4-6 month rough ride... My blood pressure returned to normal 120/80 and I feel great...

All these meds DULLED my natural aggressive personality. After 8 years or so on meds I realized that I've been letting people walk all over me. I've spent the last 6 month's or so resetting boundaries.

All that being said I really needed to take something when I went on them (which I believe most do) I was suffering from debilitating anxiety attacks. Medications do not treat the root cause only the symptoms. The fact of the matter is I had a HIGH STRESS job, a shitty marriage and had stopped working out. The medications only helped me "deal" with these facts and did nothing to "fix" the problem. I quit my job, separated from my wife and started working out again... I feel great!

I hope this information helps someone.

BTW) I'm not a doctor and I believe these medications require a lot of doctor supervision. Never go on or off of them without a doctor closely monitoring them. Also if you are going to go off ask your friends to monitor your mood as often you won't notice you are in a slump until it's pretty deep.

Cymbalta made me feel like shit. I dont mess wih anti-depressants other than 5-HTP and SAME because the script stuff can make you wacked out.
