A couple of my friends had their test levels done and found they both were in the mid 100s. Did it twice with similar results. Both doctors told them they were normal. My friend Tiny was over 500 pounds and is on Reta and has lost almost 100 pounds so far. His test level is so low I’m afraid he’s losing muscle mass. I heard his doctor tell him “why would we want to raise your test level just to raise it?” I couldn’t believe she said that and proceeded to tell him it’s only because he’s fat. He needs to lose weight. His level was under 200! I was blown away! My other friend Carl had to go to a men’s health clinic and pay too much money to get what his primary care dr should have been able to for him with his insurance. He was also mid 100s. My levels weren’t quite low enough to get my dr to help. “Have to be under 300” he told me. I was mid 300s with all the symptoms. It’s bullshit that the system seems to be set up in a way to make it almost impossible to access TRT unless it’s through a pay cash dr

the doctor isn't wrong when they tell someone who is morbidly obese that they need to lose weight to boost testosterone levels. I would not recommend someone who's obese get on TRT. It can be extremely dangerous, thicken their blood, and lead to a stroke. They need to get in top shape first then worry about that.

if your friend's 400 lbs., losing muscle mass should be the least of his worries. He should not even think about using any type of hormones until he gets to a proper weight first. After that he can start looking into it.

a lot of people are choosing to do self-TRT anyway. It's cheaper and less of a hassle.

its the what happened first the chicken or the egg.

did he get low test cause of being obese? llikely
He never checked his test levels before. He changed doctors after that happened. He has to lose 150 more pounds before he can have a surgery he needs to have. This is going to save his life in several ways. We just thought test would help him do that.

That’s what I did. I just did my labs yesterday. Waiting on results now. I had Tiny do his again as well. He’s waiting for his appointment with the new doctor. At least he’ll have his labs done already

He now like 448lbs. I told him that whatever this doctor tells him we need to listen to it. Im afraid for him to do anything without his dr involved because of his weight. He’s one of my best friends and want him to succeed and get healthy

bros doctors just like any job. some are good some aren't
I love my doctor. He’s an old guy. He will monitor any labs I ask him to run. He does it every 10 weeks for me. He knows exactly what I’m doing and he’s just helping me stay safe while doing it. He can’t prescribe it to me cause I wasn’t quite low enough by Medi-Cal standards but male health clinics have no problem prescribing it with my levels if I’m paying cash. It’s actually the insurance companies that make it more difficult
