it is all genetics, a large percentage of people do not have straight up and down and side by side abs. i've heard of body models having surgery to straighten their stomachs.
All you can do is crunch them to build the individual "bulges" without making the whole abdominal wall big and bulging out. Bet even that is useless if you don't have a diet plan in place to keep bf down. Anything below 10% works for visibility.
