well when i go above my nipples i feel like i am putting a lot of load on my shoulders and i can't control my rep very well cause of pain , but since i started to bring the bar to the bottom of my sternum i feel like i am working my chest more and have no problem with my shoulder at all.
I dont think there is a proper answer in relation to nipple location that will fit everyone. This location may depend more on arm length, hand location on the bar ect. Plus I dont think everyones nipples are located the same on their chest.
