Do you Really know your friends?

Im asking this due to what i discovered today. My friend after 11 years I recently discovered is a government contractor. He does(did) some serious shit like you see in the movies. He told me because he is retiring soon and said he feels like he can trust me and totally freaked me out when we started talking about an ex of mine and he knew everything about her.apparently he did a background and all that just to be around her. we broke up because she stole my car, he even told me she was bad news. Anyways , my point is do we really know people we hang out with?
11 years and I find out he killed people in war and other shit for the government, been to 18 countries and was a sniper for the Army. I knew he was military and said he was a contract specialist for some company.
I feel kinda insecure now around him, freaks me out.
I just had to get this out, but did any of you ever find out stuff after years of being friends with someone that kinda worried you?

No shit! right? I wondered what he did, he has a few scars and is a decent sized guy about 5ft 10 or so about 220. I should have known because he has no tattoos none at all,lol

ppl like that are compartmentalized (in their mind). you better believe that if he has known u for 11 years, and he actually told u, hes not a fake friend. He might have quirks, but if you killed ppl for your country or for government contracts, and had to basically live a fake life in public, you would have quirks too. Seriously, if he never told you, would it make a difference? how much of us know anything, really, about our friends? Shit for all i know my buddy miles could be a closet fag, my brother could be adopted, and my dad could have been unfaithful to my mom every chance he got. But they still are there for me.

If he is who he says he is, and he knows what he knows and has the intell like he does, and he's still your friend, that also says a lot about you. You must be a really decent dude and a great person "Friend" for him. Kudos to you buddy, and be grateful to be surrounded by people of good statue.
