How many guys work forearms? what has worked for you. I never used to
work forarms. I work sheetmetal and squeezing those snips all day made
them one of my strong bodyparts. I dont work with the tools as much
anymore and have started working forearms with the DC. Any feedback
on exercises - how you did them and how they worked.

Glad u brought up the topic... It is always great if you got added stimulation of a muscle group in non gym type activitied so with your line of work surely they will get added stimulation and forced to grow.

I have always had very weak looking forearms and still hate their size to this day. I had neglected them thinking they will grow from all the other heavy work I did and over the years they simply became so rediculously puny looking, I got dead serious about packing on size on them!

Alot of guys will say theirs grew from all the heavy deadlifts etc and the genetically blessed who dont even have to do much or anything at all to get thick masculine looking forearms. I have had to work my forearms via prioritizing them 2 times a week. I will finish off biceps with heavy hammer curls... And on the forearms day when they are fresh, I will do a variety of wrist curls, both pronated and supinated grips. I use a rep range of 15-25 per set, Then Ez bar reverse grip curls, reverse cable curls, reverse one arm cable curls, cable hamemr curls and farmer walks..try not to do to train with a high volume . Gradually increase the sets because forearms do get their share on back and bicep day!

Guys may work forearms by throwing in some sets right after bicep training but I find training them on a cardio day to be quite beneficial. I may hit for 15 sets for forearms... Some may need less.

The important thing for me that gave me some very good results was training forearms from all angles possible and a wide variety of exercises including both cable and free weights. You can get very creative with forearm training and use tonnes of variety but I like to stick to the basics. Other variations inculding static dumbell holds where you sit holding two very heavy dumbells at the end of the workout till your grip gives.Try to give forearms a break from back training day of course and also biceps...

After each set especially those wrist curls, your forearms should feel like on fire as if you want to rip them off! I have managed to add some girth and great vascularity to my forearms and Im pretty glad with the progress I made. For those who got weak forearms, dont give up! Oh, accessory body parts like forearms, if youre gonna train them on their own day, I always find you get a MUCH better pump and range of motion after a good cardio session.. Just like abs no doubt.

Good luck and share your experiences. Sure good to learn more and any help to get me popeye type forearms!

a few things i do that work great for me

straight bar infront and behind my back simply curling my wrists
another is grabbing a pair of dumbells and holding them at my sides with palms facing my in( like hammer curls) next i just pull up using ONLY my wrists( keeping arms at my sides) as if im trying to point the front end of dumbells to the roof and then pointing them at the ground... i do this pretty fast... after about 15-25reps my arms are so swollen i can barley hold on to the dumbells... hope i explained this ok...
at the gym i use they have a bar about a foot long with a rope tied to the middle with a clip at the end of the rope... i clip on some light plates... hold my arms out in front of me and slowly turn the bar hand, by hand wrapping the rope around the bar and pulling up the weights with ALL forearm..once u get it all the way up, u slowly lower the weight back to the ground...

I have weak forearms, too. I've been trying to bulk them up, but they are extremely stubborn. I'll have to really blast them like bulking_n did. Looks kind of funny when you have a 19 inch upper arm with a 15 inch forearm.

Deads don't seem to do anything for my forearms. Well, they make my forearms strong, but never seem to build any size.

Saudades.. dont give up.. My forearms stick out like toothpicks in my shirtsleeves and on days I dont train them, they seem to look so deflated! :upset: My forearms got significant definition now and good thickness but there is always work to do in this department.

I always awe at guys who got naturally huge masculine forearms and never step foot in a gym but then again, I dont think they can bomb forearms as hard as you do..

Great work on those 19 inch guns.. Awesome...

i was up to the 90 pounders on pinwheels and and hammers. couldnt go any higher cause i dont have any bigger db's. also use one arm reverse cable curls. dc style of course

I haven't worked forearms in a long time and it definitely shows...so yeah, I need to start hitting them again. Probably just going to hit them at the end of a bi day, how does everyone else work them with in with your other bodyparts.

Spider, why not try training forearms on your off days? I do them on an off day after my cardio. I generally dont like to ever weight train 2 days in a row but with small group like forearms, I try to make good work of it and a compace workout so you dont end up turning that session into a full drawn out session. Doing a few sets after biceps is 'OK" but it wont really cut it . You want to train them on a separate day. One of the reasons I stopped training forearms was simply not having the energy left to train them after the 'important' muscle groups. But I learnt hard lessons after they starting to look really thin... And that is where I made the effort and I love training them! I look forward to training them more than ever

i masterbate alot, it has really helped but other than that i do something very similar to db006

Nice idea bud...only prob with that is I usually do my running outside so no equipment. But I don't mind the treadmill, especially now that there is 6 inches of snow on the ground. I'll give it a try.

Dont mention it.. IM not the expert by any means in forearms... I run in a high school and then I drive down to my gym which is 10 mins away and do my forearm training there.. But with winter around, pop on your IPOD and do the threadmill or maybe some punching bag cardio if youre like me and then go attack those forearms... When you reach 15 reps and you are screaming for mercy, do an added two more!

ditto on db006...the pinwheel curls DC style really work those forearms. I've always had small forearms and they didn't start growing until I started doing heavy straight bar shrugs, and heavy dead lifts.
