Since I would consider you all to be a version of my extended family I figured I would share something with you. Not only am I in the middle of a prep for a national qualifier, but I now have to make some decisions on my career and which direction I would like to go for the better of my family. I was offered a job opportunity to be a GM of a sports nutrition store in TX. It is a very good deal but I must really consider a lot of things before deciding to relocate myself and my family. I have never had to make a big career decision like this. I have always wanted to get back to my roots. I have an educational background in exercise science and a love for nutrition and fitness. I know that I would enjoy it and the pay is good, but just a lot to decide in a short amount of time. Not to mention a big move like this could put additional stress on my body that I don't need during my prep. If you guys would just keep me and my family in your thoughts as I make a major decision one way or the other. It is nice to have a bunch of like minded individuals to vent to lol.

has the nutrition company been around for a while? it seems like now days alot of those stores come and go very quickly.
do they offer benefits as well?

just a couple thoughts i had right away.

congrats brutha my thoughts are with you and ur family. i got a feeling you will do great at whatever you decide. good heart and head this one and knows to separate them wisely

They do offer a benefits package. The franchise is total nutrition. There are not any in my area. Most of them in Florida are in the central and south Florida markets. I believe they have been around for a while for them to have that many stores in the country. Great questions by the way!

What has your family said? Man that's rough. Exciting, promising, and fulfilling, but also risky and somewhat sudden it seems. Those are the worst man. Personally I would talk it out with some trusted people and listen to their thoughts. We all do great at giving advice, but when the decision is in reference to ourselves emotions can really get in the way

Very true. Yes it was sudden. I was looking for another job but did not expect this much of a relocation. My wife and I have thought about getting a fresh start in the past because we both grew up here. So yes it could be exciting but scary as well. I talked with my parents as well and feel that I have weighed the pros and cons accordingly. So it really is up to me to decide one way or the other.

Tough call! I know a lot of company's of any type come and go in this industry unfortunately !! I also know a guy who relocated for something like this and they moved him out there and put him up in housing and then fucked him over pretty good! So I would make sure you have a lawyer look over your contract first and foremost

Good thoughts. I did some research on them and they have been around since 2001. So at least it is not a very new company. Also who knows, I may be able to get back to FL down the road since they do have 12 stores in the state now as well as opening more. So I still have to officially decide but thanks for your input.

You have to take risk brotha. I reloacted my family too for a new opportunity and I have never looked back. The biggest question you have to ask yourself is if your spouse will support you and stand by you no matter what happens. When I relocated my wife it was freaking hard for her to adjust but now she would never move back.

I say do it, if your wife is cool with it and wont effect here job. BB shows are all year long and everywhere. TX has some great shows and some great gyms.

Yea I think it is a great opportunity. A pay raise for me for sure and my wife is a teacher so I would think she could find work pretty easily. She is scared about a move but we have always thought about what it would be like to get away from where we grew up. After today I should know more whether it is a done deal or not. I will keep you guys posted.

I am very familiar with Total Nutrition.
They are all around Central and West Texas.
I also know they are in Southern Florida.
Was that not an option for you?

The owner of this particular store does not own any in FL. but if all goes well I could possibly get back to FL one day. There is a lot of opportunity with this company so we will see. Also the pay was better to go out to TX.

Just wanted to let you guys know that I did decide to take the job. I will be headed that way around the 22nd of this month to start some training. Then I will head back to get myself moved over there in February. There were just more pros than there were cons. A relocation and new job will definitely make my prep a little harder but I will not miss a beat. Will have to eat on the road a few times as well as find some different gyms to work out in. But I am excited about the opportunity and the chance to see a new place.

bro, ive been in a similar situation this past year, i made the dicicion to relocate and transfer to another part of the company i work for. i took the opertunity and now am happier where im at. i think any chance you get to better your self and take better care of your family you should take it. it might take alittle tole on your body but bro, there will always be another show to prep for. i say do it brotha. expecially if you ol'lady supports you with the dicision.

I left Michigan for Texas after 33 years of freezing most of the year and I don't regret it one bit. I found my home. Where in Texas could you be going?
