I'd have to agree with LA and say that looks are a big part of personality. I dont think I could respect a person much who didnt give a shit how they look/eat/dress/smell/whatever. Someone who doesnt take care of themselves is probably someone with low self-esteem and we all know how fun it is to be with someone with a bad self image!

BUT, if the person takes good care of themself, respects themself, and just doesnt happen to be graced with good genes, I think that would show through and make them attractive to me (as long as he had tons of cash, drove a kick ass car, and was markedly older than I was! HA! ).

To me personality is the critical factor. A woman must be smart, have a good sense of humor, and be compatible in many ways. However, having said that, I must admit that I have to find the woman to be attractive (beautiful).

BTW I'm on board with LA and T82's assertion that there is a link between looks and personality. I mean, look at what we do, could you relate to a woman who didn't take care of her body (or a man who didn't if you are a woman)?

Physical attraction is, of course, the initial attraction.
If an average looking guy has a great persnality, he ends up being HOT! If a hot guy has a dumpy personality, he ends up looking really butt ugly to me.
