I have alot of sun spots on my back and arms from the tanning bed as well as being out in the sun alot. The tanning bed lady said it is a bacteria on your skin and that selsun blue will make it go away. Well about six months ago I smeared selsun blue all over my back shoulders and arms and after about 2 weeks of doing that everyday they went away, but eventually came back. Yesterday I was talking to a nurse who had them and said she went to a dermatologist and got a pill that made them go away almost instantly and permanentaly. Does anyone know what type of medicice this was or could be? SHe couldn't remember the name.

Just in case u don't know what I mean, sun spots are the spots that people get on there back. It looks like you just finished peeling after going to the beach or something but it's not from peeling and they take months or even a year or more to go away naturally. Bottom line is I want to get rid of them fast and smearing selsun blue all over yourself and letting it sit for 20min before showering everyday is a pain in the ass. I'd much rather get a pill to take care of them

If anyone knows what kind of pill this is please let me know. I don't have enough time to go to a dermatologist with work and my training regime as of lately.

Thanks,,,bigjosh

Actually she is wrong, it is a fungus that does not allow tanning. Selsen blue will work but lotriman antifungal works best unless you get a script for the high test stuff which I have lol good luck I hope this helps...oh yeah using lotramin you will be able to tan there in less than 2 weeks...OH yeah the pill is a pain in the ass you have to take it after your shower at night and you sweat it through your glands as you sleep so you smell nice when you wake up

Bro... sounds like you might have tinea versicolor. BUt it is not from the sun... although UV rays will make it spread more. It is a vegetative growth that lies just under your skin... tends to be more on the back. SPots are usually reddish.

I have had it off and on for about 8 years. Docs in america kept telling me to use head and shoulders for 2 weeks. And like you, mine would go away...leaving pigment drained areas where the spots were (very white). Tanning would make those blend into the skin... but 6 months later the tinea would come back. cycle repeated.

ABout 1 month ago I saw a German doctor in Japan about it and he gave me some pills - 1 a day for 5 days. Said in 90% of cases it would never come back. So far it hasn't... but the verdict is still out.

Wish I could help you, but i don't remeber the name of the med. Try searching on the internet for tinea versicolor and see if you can find something.

Good luck!

If you were trying to dis Bigjosh by referring to him as a "nimrod" you should educate yourself a little, lest you make yourself look bad.
here's who Nimrod was.

The name Nimrod may come from the Hebrew verb 'nimrodh' which is translated, "Let us revolt." Nimrod is referred to as a 'mighty one': this phrase derives from the Hebrew word 'gilor' which means "tyrant". Nimrod was not just a powerful man on the earth at that time, he was a tyrannical leader of men. The phrase "a mighty hunter before the Lord" suggests that it was not wild beasts that Nimrod was hunting, but men. Having hunted them he would enslave them and have a tyranical hold over them. And all this was done in direct opposition to the Lord.

It has also been suggested that Nimrod tamed a leopard to accompany him on his hunts for animals, just as people today use dogs for this purpose. This could also be where Nimrod got his name: the Babylonian name for "leopard" was "nimr" and "rod" means "to subdue."

After the Great Flood, various city-states in Mesopotamia became the temporary seat of power until about 2800 BC, when they were united under the rule of one king, Etana of Kish, who may also be the origin of the Biblical Nimrod. Seven cities were conquered by this king, who established the world's first, post-deluge empire. After founding a southern (Sumerian) empire in Babel, Erech, Akkad, and Calneh, he invaded Assyria and built Nineveh, Rehoboth-Ir, Calah and Resen. He then unified the people in numerous construction projects, the most prominent of which was the construction of the Tower of Babel.

japan69 is right, its called tinea versicolor, it's some kind of fungus. I've had it before, the first time I went to the doc he gave me some kind of sodium thiosulfate solution I think that's what it was called and it's a topical solution that pretty much killed it in a couple days. It came back about a year later and I hade the doc give me a pill that I took one a day for 10 days, but I can't remember what it was called. I haven't seen the spots in about 3 years so it might be worth it to find the time to see the doc or keep your shirt on cause those spots are ugly. I didn't have to see a dermitologist either, I just walked into a walk in clinic and it took 30 minutes waiting for the doc and he didn't even look at me for five minutes. So a total of 35 minutes in and out. peace
