so i will be taking a week or so off the gym in the next few weeks so i have decided to hit it 6x a week with cardio 5x a week to try and burn my body out, so that when i take a vacation for a week my body over compensates and maybe will do a little growing with the rest and excess kcals.

has anyone ever tried anything like this

:) I overtrained for a solid year when I was like 17..7 days a week, no rest, etc...Got nowhere quick LOL

I find now that I intentionally try to undertrain..I have taken a few weeks off from Strongman training and wen't back to my BBing routines. I have added a good amount of size quickly by undertraining. I pick one muscle group go to the gym, hit it and then walk out.

Either way if it's something you need to do, then so be it..good luck man :)

Wes, what is your opinion on frequency for squatting? I'm debating whether I should squat twice a week. I heard someone pose an interesting question. They said if hypothetically, someone kidnapped your family and instead of holding them for ransom, held them for 12 weeks and demanded that you increase your squat by 100 lbs or they will kill your family. So the question is, if that happened to you would you only squat once a week. I have always been a big believer in rest time, however, I don't know what I'd do in that situation.

To first question. I have done exactly what you suggested before taking a week off for vacation. You would think
the week off would give the muscle time to grow from the slight overtraining. Not sure if it did any good physically
bit it helps mentally. I have found that when I come back I seem to be stronger from the time off.

Not sure you got what i meant, its not a normal thing i do but figured since i was gona be away for a week why not bust ass for 2 weeks and then have a break, if anything to feel mentally like i can "afford" the break.

we all know its a mental strain sometimes to take a break.
