When you do skull crushers do you use a stright bar or EZ bar.. I feel that I get a better pump in my tri's using a EZ bar..

DO NOT do them!!!!! all they do is tear up your elbows-there is scientific evidence to back this up

This still doesn't mean they don't work. I am a firm believer in skull crushers. This exercise has been a staple of mine since I was in high school. I honestly believe these are one of the best mass builders for triceps. It all depends on the person. Everyones bodies are diff, so just because they don't work for some doesn't mean they won't work for others....

do they work? yes, they do...but they tear up your elbows...to me it's not worth it

best bet I would think is to superset them with other tricep movements so that the weight is not that much therefore less wear and tear on the elbows

Honestly, this is what I love about lifting. How one exercise litterly can injur 1 person, and work awesome for another. I have these discussions all the time with my lifting buds. Just crazy how diff we all all are. Hell I have been doing them for prob 20 years. Granted, I have been serious about lifting for 12 and serious about BB for 3. Still, I have always done them. I credit skull crushers and Heavy overhead dumbell presses for my tri's...

I have always done them but i can not start my workout with them.. i keep them for the 3rd or 4th exercise as my tries need to be really worked and warm otherwise the elbows to hurt like a bitch

Ez bar is better and less stress on the wrist .. but did heear something abt ur elbows suffering for it .. but its true what kills u make me stronger .. were all diffrent

no offense but if it's bothering your elbows and you keep doing them as you get older your going to be in some pain

and why trash your elbows to the point that you can't even do any tricep exercises?

just saying it's no good if it causes pain

Besides doing weighted dips, skull crushers are one of the best mass builders for the tri's IMO.

I've always wondered why some exercises are coined "best for building ...", says who? Compound movements stimulate the entire body, but single joint movements??? In reality big triceps are going to come from big UPPER BODY movements. Dips and presses are going to give you the biggest bang for the buck and are much less likely to injure you. If you like them, go for it, but with as much as I press just on chest day, I can't do a known elbow wrecker.

Your right they probably arent for everyone but for me I think I've added a good inch by doing them this last 6 months. My heavy pressing days are over, used to like doing more pressing movement close grip bench/reverse bench, but not able to do those much anymore due to shoulder issues.

I have a hard time doing them because of the way my humerus healed when I broke it so it causes my arm to come down at a weird angle, but I try to utilize them at least once a month
