My 4.5 pound yorkie injured her back the other night. She took off running and yellped as whe started to run. You know, that sound like when you accidently step on your dog's foot. She is only two and a half years old and very healthy. She seemed OK that night. By the next moring she would just set there and looked like she may have a stomach ache. By noon that day, I could see by the look in her face she was in pain. My wife immediatley headed to the vet with her. By the time they got to his office, she was having a hard time standing on her back leggs. He said she had probably tweaked her back and had a swollen disk. He gave her predinsone and said we should see a positive response in 24 to 48 hours. Within tow hours of leaving his office, she could not use her back leggs at all. We have kept giving here the predinsone and it has been over 48 hours. She has absolutley no feeling in her back legs. The doc says that is a very bad sign. With the reduction in swelling from the predinsone she should be seeing at least feeling in her legs. She tweaked here back Tuedsay night, she lost mobility the following Wednesday at noon. We have been treating her with predinsone since Wednesday at noon. It is now Friday night and she has no feeling in her back legs. We can pinch here toes and there is absolutley no response. I am very concerned she could be permanently paralyzed because of the time that has passed. Do you think there is any chance IGF could help at all. With no increase in feeling in her legs, I'm affraid to put her down is the only option. At this point I am willing to try anything to save her life. I'm very serious, do you think IGF could help. What dosage would you give a four and a half dog that you are trying to cure nerve damage. I have some on hand and could start immediatley.

Dude, I am very very sorry to hear about your injured pup. It doesn't sound good. My dog is like my 2nd son. I think IGF could help but would even have the slightest idea about dosing and administration. It would have to be very small I imagine. I hope your pup gets better. Keep us posted.

My prayers are with you .. I have a dog and she is family . Let us know what happens . Wish we could do more for you .

Some promising new this morning!!!!!!! And like others have responded, she is not just the family pet, she is part of the family! As of the Friday evening visit to the vet, she had NO feeling in her rear legs. They pinched her with hemostats and NO response. I was fricken loosing it. We were past the 48 our window of a reasonable chance of recovery. We went in for our visit this morning and I assumed we would be possibley be making plans to put her down... possibly around Monday. We were standing there, the doc reaches over an pinches her rear foot and SHE DREW HER LEG BACK!!!!! I jumped up and down and cried like a baby! I knew this little pint size yorkie had it in her!! This has been the worst three days of my life, but we have some hope now. I love you guys on here. Thanks for all the advice and concerns. Presser thank you for the quick response to my question. I was at my absolute witts end. I'll give it a couple of weeks to see if there is any signs of her possbily walking. If she is showing feeling, but no walking I might reconsider the IGF. Her quality of life would be horrible if she cannot walk. In fact if it comes to the point and I have tried every avenue, I will send her to heaven with my cat I had for 16 years. The has been in heaven for about five years.

Thank you all again. I'm so happy with this mornings little bit of promising news.
